What the email said was true, monsters still existed, and they even looked exactly the same. I stared the Goblin in the eyes, it growled and then began to charge for me.
I got ready to face it, then it pounced. It scratched me on the cheek and I froze.
It hurts.
I always turned by pain receptors off when playing Unity World, but now I can feel the pain and i'm not used to it.
The Goblin quickly turns back toward me and charges again, this time i'm prepared. I throw a jab when it jumps and it lands clean into it's face.
The goblin flies back a few feet and clenches it's nose, I quickly run in and barrage it with punches.
I punch and punch until the goblin stops trying to fight back, and like that I won the battle.
The plains surrounding me disappear and i'm back in the gym, this time surrounded by many onlookers.
They stare in shock, "Did he really defeat a goblin that easy?" "Wasn't it his first time?"
I look over at my trainer and he a conniving smile spread across his face. He then turns around and the space around changes again, now to a cave.
A small screen appears in front of me,
[Training Dungeon #1]
Objective: Defeat the Boss
Reward: +1 Level Up
He threw me into a training dungeon, he must've felt the goblin was too easy for me.
This is a good time to explain dungeons:
In Unity World, monsters don't give exp, the only way to level up is through clearing dungeons or quest rewards.
Dungeons consist of multiple rooms filled randomly with either monsters or treasure. Every time you enter a dungeon the layout changes, but the dungeons theme stays the same.
Players with mapping or exploration skills are very helpful in dungeons, knowing more about your next room can help a lot with preparations.
I begin to walk through the dungeon, the theme seems to be coal mine, meaning the monsters I might encounter could be Golems, Mining Zombies, or Bats.
It seems the enemy is Bats, a huge swarm flies toward me and begins to bite me, I try to punch them but they easily dodge.
The annoying thing about bats is their high evasion, they can easily dodge attacks. But every pro has a con, bats have very low health often dying after one hit.
Instead of strong punches I opt for fast punches, this seems to work as the swarm begins to thin out.
Soon the bats are all dead and I can proceed through the dungeon. Seeing how annoying the bats were to deal with, I'm not very hopeful for this dungeon.
