Brice Olivier adjusted his tie, standing before a sea of holo-recorders and eager faces. Drones hummed overhead with their sensors sweeping the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," he began, his voice steady. "The emergency bill is ready for the President's signature. We can't afford to wait any longer."
A reporter thrust her hand up. "Senator Olivier, how do you respond to critics who say this bill violates basic human rights?"
Brice leaned into the podium. "Look, I get it. Nobody likes the idea of being scanned. But you know what people like even less? Being torn apart by werewolves disguised as their neighbors."
