"I think we need to get out," Jacques said.
"You don't need to remind me twice," Eugene responded, already backing away from the tank.
A spiderweb of cracks spread across the reinforced glass, each new line accompanied by an ominous crackling sound. Pale blue fluid began to seep through the fissures, forming growing puddles on the sterile lab floor. The liquid gave off a sharp, chemical smell that burned their nostrils.
Inside the tank, the creature's movements became more deliberate. Its massive limbs unfurled slowly, as if testing their strength after a long slumber. Muscles rippled beneath its patchy fur as it stretched, pressing against the weakening glass.
The monitoring equipment around the tank erupted in a cascade of warning signals, urgently beeping filling the lab like a technological death knell.
"The door," Jacques hissed, grabbing Eugene's arm. "Where's the damn door?"
