The five people sat around the table, which groaned under the weight of a variety of hearty vegetable dishes. Pots of thick soup, fragrant with herbs and spices, sat next to baskets of freshly baked vegetable tarts. Platters of grilled eggplant and tomatoes, glistening with olive oil, mingled with bowls of carrots and peas, and cabbage and potatoes were piled high on serving platters.

Since the kingdom was plunged into chaos by the terrifying invasion of the demons, the merchants who once supplied the Laughing Dragon tavern with a variety of foodstuffs stopped visiting. However, hope was not lost given that there was a kitchen backyard behind the house which Leios diligently managed. The garden bloomed with a colourful assortment of vegetables, herbs, and grains, from rosemary and lettuce to barley and rice. Considering that the number of customers at the tavern plummeted, the garden provided a much-needed source of food for both the tavern and the home
