The night was silent, apart from the chirping of crickets. There was a full moon in the sky which illuminated the streets and alleyways of the town. The cool breeze whipped around Ruby as he sat on the stone bench outside of the tavern. He was deep in reverie, thinking about his dead parents. Just like a normal kid, he was attached to his parents, yet going forward, he had to live without them. The thought of it sent a sharp pang of pain deep into his heart. A feeling of hopelessness coursed through his veins making him sigh every moment as he changed seating positions. As he stared into the void, the thought of committing suicide crossed his mind. He thought that maybe if he died the feeling of pain that stabbed his heart each day and every moment would end. And, on top of that, he might meet his parents in the land of the dead and live happily forever.
