Chapter 1 - Chapter I

"Mr, are you my father? I am looking for my father." Little pudgy hands clung to Drew's legs and he was shocked at the audacity of the young chap.

Looking down from his great height , Andrew Anderson saw an angelic face and his heart turned over. This is what he most yearned for.  But how can he get it when that right has been taken away  from him? Just how ?

He quickly masked his sorrow and squatted down to the little angel.

"How in the world did you manage to lose your father chap?'He asked with a laugh.

Cam looked the handsome man over and rolled his eyes in a manner that meant what are you even talking about?

"I did not lose him, Mr !  I just don't have a dad."

Puzzled , Drew looked at the baby who must be around three years, shocked at  the little man's boldness. How can a baby talk this way?

"Oh really? How did that happen? Or did you manage to fall from the sky ?"  Drew laughed  out loud this time. His perfect set of teeth glinted in the evening soft lights.

"No stupid!" Another angelic voice spoke from behind Drew.

"It means what he said. We don't have a dad."  Windsor called Win, the smart pants said and put a hand on top of his brother's shoulder looking every inch a smart lad.

Drew, who had been squatting in front of the boy, looked up at the newcomer and could not overcome his shock.

Has he begun to see double.? This boy was an exact replica of the one he had been talking to.

"No you are seeing that right mister,"

George, who knew exactly what the poor man was thinking, came right up to his brothers and took exactly the same stand as Win.

Drew gradually got up from where he was squatting and wiped his eyes. Something must be wrong with him. He has never seen such a thing from where he came from. Identical triplets?

"Who are you?" He asked the boys , almost reduced to stuttering.

"We are brothers," the newcomer explained. "I am George."

"Windsor, but call me Win, and that is Cam."

One of them introduced and for the life of him, he could not tell which one.

They looked exactly the same with golden brown locks falling over their cherubic faces. They looked like they all came out straight from a vogue advert.

The babies stood silently looking at the handsome man with  the emerald green  eyes.

" What are you doing here all alone? Where are your parents? "  Drew asked the boys looking around to see if he could see any sign of an adult. The place was quite deserted and that was  exactly why he had chosen this spot to get away from everyone.

"Parent , you mean. I told you we don't have a father." Cam said calmly, his green eyes shining.

"Our mother is over there. But what are you doing here and why do you look so sad?" George asked, looking closely at Andrew.

Drew guessed this must be the eldest from the way he talked.

"Never mind me but what are you guys doing all out here alone? And how old are you?" Drew asked the boys, puzzled.

Why would a parent allow these children out alone without a chaperone, never mind that they look smart. He was going to give their mother an earful over this carelessness.

"Don't worry Mr,  this here is our turf, we live over there,  not quite far from here. " Windsor said, pointing over a direction with his little hand at a group of houses just  down the hill.

"That's where I am staying. It's quite far. How did you manage to come so far?"

"Hello sir, in case you haven't noticed, we are big boys and can handle ourselves. We come here all the time." One of them said, looking all mature .

Drew continued to look at the angels and his heart twisted all over again. Is this the life he was destined for, no family?

He was an only child and he had always dreamed of having a big family .

Looking at the boys, he felt envy. Envy for their brotherhood, something he never had and the shattered dreams of a future with a big family.

Down the hill, Sophie was busy with the customers. Looking at her watch, she checked to see how soon the boys would be back. She had expressly told them to be back in an hour and they had promised to do exactly that.

"Sophie, over here, there is a full table and no service."  Edna the head waitress called out.

"Coming right up,"  Sophie yelled over the ding of noise and loud cat - calls.

The restaurant was unusually full today as this was the start of the summer holidays and there were many guests at the bed and breakfast.

While moving agily  among the  customers, Sophie kept glancing at the door to check if her boys were back.

Yes, this  was now  her life . For three and half years, she had worked and lived in this seaside village and everything she knew had  been left behind.

Here she was just Sophie, the mother of the boys.

Everyone loved her and she loved them. Without  these people, her life would not be as she knew it. They were her everything.

Taking a breather after standing and moving around the large dining hall for almost three hours, Sophie sipped her chilled lemonade and looked at herself over the large mirror hung on the wall of her cabin.

She  sighed, and blew away long strands of hair from her face which was once a beautiful  one but now  looked pale and tired. Her gold eyes that used to have a shine to them were  now dim.

These three years have been tough  but it had  been all worth it when she thought about her angels.

Removing her scrubs to reveal a blue cardigan and closely fitted jeans, one could see she was a very beautiful woman, with the right curves in the right places. Sophie still was stunning and she will always be.

She cannot imagine her old life, her parents, especially her mother.

Do they think of her? How could they just abandon her like that ? She was their only child for God's sake. She knew she was wrong but it was not entirely her fault. They should have made it clear from the beginning….
