Title: A Break in Training
The sound of weights clanging and the echoing grunts of effort filled the training gym of the agency. Sunlight filtered through the large windows, illuminating the room and casting shadows that danced across the polished floor. It had been a month since Y/N joined Kirishima's agency as his sidekick, and things were going exceptionally well. Under Kirishima's mentorship, Y/N had learned not only practical skills but also the importance of camaraderie in the hero world.
Y/N found Kirishima to be an admirable hero, more than just his physique. His cheerful demeanor and unwavering determination inspired Y/N to work harder every day. It wasn't long before the playful banter between the two turned into something more. Each friendly gesture—a brush of hands here, a playful nudge there—felt charged with unspoken emotion. Yet, Kirishima remained blissfully unaware of the subtle shifts in their dynamic.
"Hey, Y/N! Let's take a quick break!" Kirishima called out, wiping the sweat from his brow as he set down a barbell with a loud thud. The two had been training intensely, and while Y/N was struggling to keep up with Kirishima's energy, they also relished every moment spent in his company.
"Sounds good!" Y/N replied, sitting down on a nearby bench and reaching for a bottle of water. They watched Kirishima as he stretched under the bright gym lights, appreciating the way his muscles moved with ease and grace. A playful smile crept onto their face, and suddenly, a bold idea sparked in Y/N's mind.
Once Kirishima plopped onto the bench beside them, resting and pouting slightly from exhaustion, Y/N took a deep breath. The gym was filled with sounds—distant laughter, the thud of feet against the floor, and the steady rhythm of breathing. However, all Y/N could focus on was Kirishima's warm presence beside them.
Without thinking too much about it, Y/N leaned closer and pressed their lips against Kirishima's. They could hardly believe they had just done it, their heart racing faster than it ever had during training.
Kirishima's eyes widened in surprise, his red hair slightly falling over his eyes as he processed what had just happened. The world seemed to pause—his mind spiraling in a flurry of thoughts. "Y/N…?" he stammered, utterly perplexed.
"I—uh—sorry! I didn't mean to surprise you." Y/N's voice was a mix of nervousness and determination. "Actually, that's not true. I wanted to kiss you. I just… didn't know how to say it."
The gym felt quieter now, as if the air thickened with unspoken feelings. Kirishima stared, his first instincts screaming to laugh, to brush it off as a prank, but the sincerity in Y/N's eyes stopped him. "You wanted to kiss me?" he asked, trying to wrap his mind around it. 'But why didn't you ever say anything before?'
Y/N's heart raced. "I thought you'd never notice. I-I thought you saw it as just friendly gestures… but they meant more—I mean, they mean more to me."
Kirishima felt a rush of warmth within him, a mix of confusion and something else—a joy that bubbled to the surface. "So, you like me?"
"More than like," Y/N replied, feeling emboldened. "I really, really like you, Kirishima. I've had a crush on you since I joined the agency."
For a moment, silence enveloped them before a wide smile spread across Kirishima's face. The shock melted away, replaced by an overwhelming feeling of happiness. "I like you too, Y/N! I just, I didn't realize! I thought you were just being friendly, like you said!"
Y/N's eyes glimmered with delight. "So… does that mean we can… maybe go on a date sometime?"
Kirishima chuckled, the nervousness blossoming into excitement. "Yeah, I'd love that! You know, I've been waiting for you to say something. But next time, maybe let me know before you catch me off guard like that?"
"I'll keep that in mind," Y/N grinned, a lightness in their chest, feeling the affection growing. With a newfound connection, the gym felt brighter, and a hint of pink dusted both of their cheeks.
As they resumed training, this time there was an extra spark in the air, a thread of anticipation weaving between them. Kirishima couldn't help but steal glances at Y/N as they both pushed themselves to new limits, their laughter echoing in the gym. The real training had just begun—a training of hearts, hopes, and maybe, if they were lucky, love.
