Chapter 46 - Tenya x Y/N

Title: A Helping Hand

The sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm, golden hue across the bustling city. Y/N sat quietly at her desk, the hum of the office around her fading into oblivion as she focused on her work. Tenya, her colleague, often marveled at her dedication. But lately, he noticed something unsettling—she was pushing herself harder than ever. Late nights and early mornings had become her routine, and Tenya couldn't shake off the feeling that something deeper lay beneath her tireless zeal.

One evening, curiosity got the better of him. After saying goodbye to his coworkers, Tenya decided to discreetly follow Y/N home. He kept a comfortable distance, his heart heavy with concern. As he trailed her through the streets, he watched as she walked with a slight hitch in her step. When she finally arrived at a modest apartment building, Tenya's heart sank. She entered the building, and moments later, two small figures raced through the door—the unmistakable energy of children.

Peering through the window, Tenya saw Y/N fall exhausted onto the couch, her expression a mixture of love and weariness. The twins, Mason and Lilly, clambered up to her with joyful squeals, and for a moment, Y/N's tired face lit up with radiant smiles. But the shadows under her eyes spoke volumes; life as a single mother was clearly taking its toll.

The next day at the office, Tenya approached Y/N with a gentle resolve. "Can we talk?" he asked, his tone serious yet kind. She nodded, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"What's on your mind?" she asked, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"I've noticed you've been working harder than usual lately," Tenya began, watching her response carefully. "I wanted to check in. Are you okay?"

Y/N opened her mouth to deflect, to brush off any concern, but Tenya held her gaze. "Please, just tell me. I want to help."

After a brief pause, Y/N sighed, the weight of her struggles spilling into the air between them. "It's just… things have been rough since my husband left. The twins keep me on my toes, and by the time I finish everything at work, I'm just… exhausted."

Tenya's heart ached for her. "Why didn't you say anything? I could help."

"It's embarrassing. I—I should be able to handle it on my own," Y/N stumbled over her words, but Tenya wasn't deterred.

"Everyone needs help, Y/N. Let me watch the kids while you take a day to rest. Just one day. You deserve a break."

Despite her reservations, there was a glimmer of hope in Y/N's eyes. "Okay," she finally conceded, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'd like that."

The next day, Tenya arrived at Y/N's apartment, greeted by the small whirlwind of Mason and Lilly, both five years old and full of curiosity. As the kids showed him their toys, Y/N took a deep breath, grateful for the respite. It felt foreign yet freeing as she settled into a chair with a cup of tea, listening to the distant sounds of laughter mingling with her thoughts.

By the end of the day, as the twins yawned and snuggled close to Tenya while he read them a story, Y/N felt a sense of gratitude wash over her. When Tenya finally left, she opened her door to him, a genuine smile now lighting her face. "I can't thank you enough for today," she said. "I've never felt so… relaxed."

"It was my pleasure," Tenya replied, feeling a warmth spread in his chest. "Maybe we can do it again? This time I'll bring dinner."

Y/N's laughter was melodic, and it made Tenya heart skip a beat. "You're on!"

But before she could shut the door, Tenya hesitated, an idea forming in his mind. "Actually, I was thinking… instead of dinner for the kids, how about dinner for just us? A date?"

Y/N's eyes widened in disbelief, and for a moment silence hung thick in the air. But then her lips curved into a smile, one that radiated hope and excitement. "I'd like that."

As the evening wrapped around them like a comforting blanket, Tenya felt a thrilling new chapter blooming both for Y/N and himself. The journey of friendship and perhaps even love began, and it was all rooted in kindness—a helping hand that turned into something beautiful.
