The implications of such a thing were too obscene to think about.
Him? The same guy who had gotten thrown like a ragdoll by a toddler? And all of a sudden he was the first to discover a Type of magic? And one considered unrivaled No less?
He had never heard such a distinction. From what he knew, there were indeed achievements granted to individuals who discovered new forms of magic. But the highest form he had heard of was Unprecedented. But Unrivaled?
"Hoo~" He took a breath to calm himself.
He would explore everything later. For now, He would have to get out of here.
He looked up and saw the dark barrier was still there. But it was slowly starting to fade away.
'If I'm still here by the time the barrier completely disappears, I'll be in a lot of trouble.' He thought and got up. However, that was when he realized that his clothes had been eviscerated by the blast, leaving him butt naked.
"Ah crap." He was glad no one was around and immediately ran towards the edge of the barrier.
At most, he would be taken for someone who had too much to drink last night, or someone who had made one too many gambles. Regardless, he didn't want to be affiliated with what had happened here, so he quickly made his exit.
And it was a good thing he did, as not long after he left, all sorts of security vehicles began to arrive on the scene.
Luckily for him the barrier had also scrambled every single camera in the surrounding area so there was no record of him entering or leaving the place.
Regardless though, those knowledgeable enough knew exactly what that sound of thunder signified, and so all around the planet, many individuals and forces were alarmed.
But Nux was unaware of all of this as he made his way home.
To his luck, not many people disturbed him for being naked and those who did bought his story of making the wrong gamble so he was able to reach his house in one piece.
"Okay." He locked his door behind him and let out a breath of relief. He looked around his small rundown apartment and smiled.
There were a lot of questions on his mind. But in the end, he was just happy to be alive.
The first thing he did was go and put on some clothes. He didn't have a lot And would be lying if he said that he wasn't pained by the previous set getting shredded, but there wasn't anything he could do about it.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he had failed to look in the mirror and see that his hair and eye color had changed.
"Okay, let's sit down and think about This." Nux plopped down on his chair and was about to take his time to think about the whole matter when he heard several knocks on his door.
"Hm?" His brows furrowed and he stood up to get it.
"Yes…?" He opened the door and asked, but then his face immediately fell when he saw who it was.
Three men stood at the door, one of them was fat, the other was skinny, and the third, the one in the center, was muscular with tattoos on his exposed chest.
"Hey there Nux." The buff man said, however his tone was far from polite.
"Kent." Nux said with no enthusiasm.
"Aw come on, why the long face?" Kent said with a ferocious smile and stepped closer, but Nux did not budge.
"What do you want? I'm busy." Nux asked coldly And Kent laughed.
"You're so weak yet unyielding." He said and calmed down.
"Well kid, I have an offer for you." Nux raised his brow.
"I already told you, I have no interest in stealing." Nux said and tried to close the door but Kent put his hand in the way.
"Hey hey. Calm down little guy, don't worry, I'm not asking you to steal anything." Kent said, his tone becoming calmer.
"... Go on." Nux was unable to keep down his curiosity.
"Well, it's like this. There's a new underground fighting ring that opened up. And I heard that if you can get someone to join in, you get paid." Nux's face Darkened.
"So what, you want me to join so that you get paid?" He said with clear irritation and Kent grinned.
"Sharp As always." Kent nodded and Nux shook his head.
"I don't know what kind of sick joke you're playing but no. You already know I can't fight." Nux declined and Kent Sighed.
"Well, I asked nicely." Kent said before violently pushing his way through. Nux Wasn't expecting it so he didn't even have the chance to stop him.
Kent and his lackeys loomed over Nux as Kent said coldly.
"I've humored you long enough. But you're just so useless. Might as well make you even a bit useful. You Will join whether you like it or not." Hearing this, Nux surprisingly smiled.
"Go ahead and force me. You've beaten the hell out of me before, you should know I won't budge." His confidence was clear and Kent nodded.
"Indeed, that's why I brought something that will make you comply whether you like it or not." He said and held out a blue vial.
When he saw it, Nux immediately had a bad feeling and took a step back.
"This is a very diluted version of a mind control potion. So much so that it can't even be used as a drug and it cost me nothing, but for you, it should be more than enough to make you do what I say." Immediately he said this, his two lackeys immediately went forward and grabbed Nux by the arms.
'Shit.' He cursed inwardly and Looked around frantically.
If he really went and joined the fighting ring with his weak body, he would die for sure.
He watched as Kent Moved closer to him and opened the vial, a devious grin on his face.
'Damn it. There's no way I'll be able to get out of this… wait.' Nux blinked.
His arms were being held, but why did their grips feel so loose?
'Are they just that lax That they aren't holding me tightly enough? No, this is good. I'll slip out and make a break for it!'He immediately thought.
When Kent was right in front of him, he suddenly wrenched his hands free much to the surprise of the three individuals and tried to bolt past Kent.
However he felt a hand grip His shoulder tightly.
"You're making this harder than it needs to be kid." Kent's voice was ferocious and Nux gritted his teeth, he had no choice.
'Even if I drink it in the end, I'll go down swinging!' His resolve was strong as he clenched his fist.
He had no idea that at that moment, his eyes began to glow.
Without waiting for Kent to talk any more, he pivoted his foot and spun. He knew it wouldn't do anything but he still wanted to try.
So he was absolutely stunned when his fist connected with Kent's jaw and there was a clear cracking sound as his head whipped back violently, his huge body seizing before collapsing with a loud Thud.
"...B-Boss?" The two lackeys looked on with shock when their leader was taken out with one hit.
His eyes had rolled back and foam came out of his mouth. Nux looked at this and then at his fist as he was equally as stunned.
"Huh?" He voiced out involuntarily. What just happened.
"No way, but he's just a weakling!" The lanky lackey said with disbelief.
"Are you dumb?! He just knocked out the boss in one hit!" The fat one said before looking at Nux, his tone suddenly becoming polite.
"Um, sorry about that. We really tried to warn him that we didn't have to do this but he refused to listen." He said as politely as possible.
Nux just stared at them in a daze and nodded absentmindedly, but they took it as him giving them the go ahead.
"Hehe, thank you very much sir." The fat one said and immediately tapped his partner.
"Help me carry him." He said and the two of them lifted Kent and left the house.
It was only after Nux heard the door close did he snap back to his senses.
"What the hell?" That was the first thing he said.
His mind reeled when he fully understood the implications of what he had just done.
Kent was by no means a powerhouse.
From what he knew, his magic skill was average, and he was just slightly stronger than the average person, well, average for their current generation.
Anyway, even if Kent was exactly a powerhouse, he was still more than enough to beat up Nux with a single hand. And yet he got knocked out in a single blow?
'Something is definitely not right.' He took deep breaths to steady himself.
'I got used as a hostage by a Demon, was in the center of a blast that I should not have survived for any reason, and now that I have returned home, I suddenly have the strength to knock out someone who punching should have left me with a broken hand.' He thought and walked back to his room.
He wasn't sure why he went to his room, but he just did.
As he entered, he passed by his mirror, and he paused. This time his mind was clearer so he was able to pay more attention to his surroundings. So when he saw the handsome young man with lean but powerful muscles, in addition to gray hair and eyes, he was taken aback.
"What the…?!" He stared in disbelief at his own reflection.
He grabbed a strand of his hair and held it in front of his eyes and the light gray color could not be any clearer.
His breath suddenly picked as he felt his heart start to race.
One defining trait about humans in this day and age was that, depending on what sort of magic they used, their hair color would change to match it.
Nux originally had dark hair and it was easy for many people to assume he used darkness magic, but the case was, he couldn't use magic at all.
However.
"My hair color has changed. Doesn't that mean…" He didn't want to think about it. After all these years, he dared not give himself hope.
But, he just couldn't help it. All the signs were there, the change in appearance, the sudden boost in strength, he would be a fool to say it was just a coincidence.
Could he really…?
"Can… I use magic?"
