Chapter 12 - Chapter 11

The Trap

Xiaoyu's eyes fluttered open, her head pounding with pain. She was disoriented, unsure of where she was or how she got there.

As her vision cleared, she saw that she was in a dimly lit room. Alexander was nowhere to be seen, but their protective detail was scattered around the room, unconscious.

Xiaoyu's heart raced as she realized the truth. They had been ambushed.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was Jingyi, a cruel smile spreading across her face.

"You're so predictable, Xiaoyu," Jingyi sneered. "I knew you'd fall for the trap."

Xiaoyu struggled to sit up, but her head spun. She was groggy, unable to defend herself.

Jingyi laughed. "You're no match for me, Xiaoyu. I've been playing you from the beginning."

Xiaoyu's eyes narrowed, her anger rising. She knew that she had to escape, to stop Jingyi before it was too late.

But as she looked around the room, she realized that she was trapped. There was no way out.

Jingyi's smile grew wider. "You'll never leave this place alive," she said.

And with that, the room went black.

Xiaoyu's eyes fluttered open again, her mind foggy. She was tied to a chair, her wrists and ankles bound by ropes.

Jingyi stood in front of her, a triumphant smile on her face. "You're a hard woman to kill, Xiaoyu," she said. "But don't worry, I have a special plan for you."

Xiaoyu struggled against the ropes, but they were too tight. She was trapped.

Jingyi laughed. "You're not going to escape this time, Xiaoyu. This time, you're going to pay for what you've done."

Xiaoyu's eyes locked onto Jingyi's, her anger burning. "You'll never get away with this," she spat.

Jingyi shrugged. "Oh, I think I will. You see, I have insurance. Insurance that will make sure I walk away from this a free woman."

Xiaoyu's mind raced, trying to think of what Jingyi's insurance could be. And then, it hit her. The documents. The ones that proved Jingyi's involvement with the syndicate.

Jingyi saw the realization in Xiaoyu's eyes and smiled. "Yes, Xiaoyu. I have the documents. And with them, I'll be able to take down anyone who tries to stop me."

Xiaoyu's heart sank, her hopes dwindling. She was trapped, and Jingyi had the upper hand.

But then, Xiaoyu heard a noise. A faint rustling sound, coming from outside the room.

Jingyi's head jerked up, her eyes narrowing. "What was that?" she muttered.

Xiaoyu's heart leapt with hope. Could it be? Could Alexander have escaped and be coming for her?
