The Rescue
Xiaoyu's eyes locked onto Jingyi's, her mind racing with possibilities. The noise grew louder, and Jingyi's grip on her gun tightened.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and Alexander exploded into the room. "Get down, Xiaoyu!" he yelled, his gun drawn.
Xiaoyu didn't hesitate, dropping to the floor as Alexander took cover behind a nearby couch. Bullets flew through the air, Jingyi's goons returning fire.
Alexander popped out from behind the couch, his gun blazing. "Go, Xiaoyu!" he shouted.
Xiaoyu sprang to her feet, sprinting towards the door. Alexander laid down a suppressive fire, keeping Jingyi's men pinned down.
As they burst out of the room, Xiaoyu could hear Jingyi's enraged screams. "You'll never escape me!" she shouted.
But Xiaoyu and Alexander didn't look back. They kept running, their footsteps echoing down the hallway.
They hit the stairs, taking them two at a time. Xiaoyu's heart pounded in her chest, her senses on high alert.
They reached the bottom, and Alexander yanked open the door. "Go!" he shouted.
Xiaoyu sprinted out into the night, Alexander right behind her. They didn't stop until they reached the safety of their car, speeding away from the danger zone.
Only then did Xiaoyu dare to look back. Jingyi's goons were swarming out of the building, but they were too late.
Xiaoyu and Alexander had escaped.
For now.!
As they sped away from the danger zone, Xiaoyu's heart slowly returned to normal. She looked over at Alexander, who was focused on the road.
"Thanks for saving me back there," she said, her voice neutral.
Alexander nodded, his eyes still on the road. "No problem. We make a good team."
Xiaoyu raised an eyebrow, but said nothing. She knew that Alexander was right - they did make a good team.
As they drove, Xiaoyu's mind turned to their next move. They had escaped Jingyi's clutches, but they knew that she would not give up easily.
"We need to get to the bottom of this," Xiaoyu said, her voice firm. "We need to find out who's behind Jingyi's operation."
Alexander nodded, his jaw clenched. "I agree. Let's get to work."
Xiaoyu smiled, a cold, calculated smile. "Let's do it."
As they drove off into the night, Xiaoyu knew that they were in for a long and dangerous road ahead. But she was ready.
