Damian and Sparrow stood motionless in the forest, their ears straining to pinpoint the source of the faint voice they had heard moments before. The dense canopy above blocked out much of the moonlight, casting the area in an eerie, shifting darkness. Sparrow turned to Damian, his face unusually stern.
"It's my turn to lead now," Sparrow said in a low, firm voice. "You stay on my six at all times. We can't be sure when the bullets might start flying. Got it?"
Damian, gripping his Glock tightly, gave a quick nod. "Got it."
Another faint rustle of leaves reached their ears, this time closer. Sparrow raised his hand in a quick gesture, signaling silence.
"Shhhhhh," Sparrow whispered, his M14 Suppressed steady in his hands. His body language shifted, his focus razor-sharp as he scanned the shadows ahead.
