As Chris revived the engine, the car jolted backward, smashing through a hastily-erected barricade as civilians scattered across the street, some screaming as they dodged out of the way.
"Get the hell out of our way!" Chris shouted, his voice tense.
The car roared forward, tires screeching, but Slayer spotted a group of police up ahead, setting up with RPK machine guns. "Damn it!" he cursed, bracing himself as the police unleashed a hailstorm of bullets.
In slow motion, Chris and Slayer ducked as the car's windows shattered, shards of glass spraying everywhere. Behind them, Sparrow shouted, "Roadblock up ahead!"
"I see it!" Chris yelled, the tension thick in his voice as he fought to keep control of the car.
"Floor it, Chris! Just floor it!" Slayer yelled, gripping his seat with white-knuckled hands.
