Ariana POV
Someone gently shook her awake. "We're almost there," Aunt Sally murmured in her ear. "You don't want to miss seeing Paris from the air. It's fantastic."
Her eyes flew open, and she stared out the Gulfstream jet window at the lacy clouds, and the city of Paris spread out below. The Eiffel Tower stuck out like a beacon, like a giant "Welcome to Paris" sign. Ariana tried to spot the Arc de Triomphe, but couldn't make it out.
Paris!
She'd dreamed of going. Her mother had spoken fondly of studying in Paris, of summers spent in France, in Germany, in England. She'd applied for an international semester at some of the the best universities for biotechnology in Paris: Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris Descartes University, Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences, Paris Diderot University, and others.
