Luc POV
D*mn. Luc paced inside the palace in Merak, while Irina, on her phone, barked out orders to her guards and spies.
"He escaped the city? How is it possible for my brother to just fly out of the country? Where in the name of the Elder Gods did he go? I want him found, now! Him and his human wh*re."
Irina held up a hand as she talked rapid-fire to the head of her personal guard, a dogged, merciless man known only as "the Direwolf." She seemed to be giving him instructions to harass the people of Ampero, and Dimitri's staff.
Sensing potential danger, Luc gestured frantically. With an annoyed frown, Irina muted the call and said in a too-calm voice, "What is it?"
"Dimitri's people would fall on a stake for him. You can't harass them. There are no disgruntled employees. I had to practically compel Louis."
"You're so cute when you're worrying about what your brother thinks," she said with a smirk.
