If I remember correctly, I have met her about two to three times in total; although we spoke to each other, a bit of formality could be heard in our voices; thus, I was a little surprised seeing her acting as if she was familiar with me.
But after all, Skye is also one of the characters that start I have a good impression especially since this one's appearance is close to the MCU but as for her background.
I'm also curious since if according to The MCU setting, she would only join SHIELD after the Avengers reunion when Coulson was resurrected.
Anyway, Skye didn't have as much thought as me; she rolled her eyes and said: "What's my base? When I drove you with Fury last time, this was the first time I entered this base."
I shook my head at her response and said: "You know that I'm not talking about this, but well, let's not dwell on this issue; since we are going to participate in a life and death battle, I think it's normal to introduce each other, right?"
I said this while looking at the third group; although they have a character that I don't like, I should put my prejudice for now. Plus, we may really need his help.
I said: "My name is Emma Müller; I'm a newly awakened mutant with abilities allowing me to heal people, enhance myself, and do some stuff; I'm also a magician, the one in the true sense."
My introduction was less playful than with the SHIELD duo before; I could also see the people in the room being interested when I said I was a magician, including Ororo, as we never talked about this issue; I wonder if this version of her is also related to the mystic side.
In short, although curious about the magic things, no one truly asked me about it considering we aren't familiar enough or this may involve some sort of secrets.
After that, Ororo, Logan, Skye, Barton, and Natasha formally introduced themselves, and it was finally the turn of the man I didn't have a good impression of and his team.
He said: "Hello, I'm Dr. Reed Richards, also going with the hero name Mister Fantastic; my superpower is to make any part of my body elastic; of course, I'm also a scientist specializing in physics and engineering."
That's right, the man was Reed Richards and his fantastic four, a double-edged sword like the Chinese call it; he can either help in this mission or come up with some wonderful idea and make the Hulk angrier.
I could only sigh but well, his team's help is more than welcome as I don't see how we could stop Hulk with only two tankers who may able to resist the Hulk but without a way to inflict any proper damage unless Natasha plays her cards but well, I couldn't rely on something this illusory.
With this team, if we were to go head to head against Hulk, we would have more chance to win, of course, provided this isn't the World Breaker Hulk version.
Just after we finished introducing ourselves, Fury entered the room; there wasn't any sign of the discussion we had, as if nothing had happened between us.
He said: "It seems that you have proceeded to do a formal introduction, which saves us some time; now, let me truly explain what we are going to face."
Although I don't like the way he was speaking as if he was our superior, since I decided to do it just this once, let's bear it to the end.
He said: "What you're facing was, in fact, a doctor named Bruce Banner who was working for the military before."
Reed was surprised and murmured: "Dr. Banner?"
Apparently, he knows Banner, but it is not that surprising because even if they work in different fields, they are among, if not the best, in their respective field.
I can feel Nick observing every one of us even though he was speaking, probably wanting to know our reaction, knowing the menace was caused by the military, but well, didn't he brief them as he did with me?
"Hmph, the military again, don't even understand why Charles would be willing to make us wipe their ass when in the end, they could just say it was a mutant's work."
Ororo didn't hide her disgust in the slightest. Supposedly, the fight against Hulk happened in the United States and caused some casualties; they would just say it was a mutant going on a rampage, and then everything was done.
Apart from her, I also saw Logan agreeing with her by nodding his head; I then remembered that he should have worked in the military during World War II before being subjected to experimentation; I was curious if his version of him had worked with Captain America's Howling Commandos.
Fury, who heard Ororo's complaint, didn't reply; maybe he knows the relationship of mutants with the government, the military especially, can't be repaired in the short term, or does he have some sort of plan in his head?
In short, he continued explaining the birth of Hulk, which should normally involve military secrets; he said: "Dr. Banner was exposed to gamma radiation during military experimentation to create superhuman."
"After that, with a slight change in his emotion, he will turn into an unbeatable green monster that we call the Hulk."
After that, a holographic projection appeared, displaying how Hulk escaped from the military; he was simply invincible; no matter how much effort the military put in or what kind of weapons they used, it was like a scratch to him.
Seeing the invincible form of Hulk, I looked around to see the reaction of the people around, only to find an excited Ororo, Logan, and even Reed.
'Truly a world for lunatics.' I thought Logan and Ororo probably wanted to fight; as for Reed, his scientist side must be excited by something this new.
I also had an approving smile on Fury's face; it was very likely because none of us present seemed to be scared in the slightest.
He said: "As you can see, he didn't win some sort of energy thing, just his body being enhanced, but the enhancement has surpassed human common sense, making someone who looks almost invincible without a weakness in the true sense."
"But don't worry, all the people here were specially selected according to his ability and you could indeed restrain him because even if he didn't have a true weakness, we could just create one for him."
I nodded because I had already thought of a way for us to fight him, and from what I judged, we could win as long as it was not a cheating version of Hulk.
The people in the room also agreed with Fury, which can be seen from their expressions; they are all superhuman, after all, and are confident with their abilities.
END OF THE CHAPTER
Now completely healed, and after some pause, I'm back.
