Seeing their confidence, Emma couldn't help but sigh; they hadn't experienced things like Apocalypse's return, Galactus's arrival, and Loki's invasion. Thus, they were still confident, thinking they were at the top.
After Fury explained the overall situation, the team, already prepared, embarked on their way to Brazil in SHIELD's special Quinjet.
Although it couldn't compare to the SHIELD Helicarrier, especially since they aren't in the same category, the Quinjet was more advanced than she had expected; she did have some basic knowledge about aircraft, thanks to the original Emma's memory.
While Emma and her team were on their way, something was already happening in Brazil that Fury and the World Security Council might not like at all.
It was because, dressed in U.S. military-style clothes, Lieutenant General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross was there with other American soldiers under his command, receiving a report: "Sir, the Hulk has been detected in one of the slums in Rio. Our team is already on standby, waiting for orders."
Ross was satisfied with the report; at least they weren't as useless as usual.
As the one who had worked hard on the Super Soldier project before the incident, he could be said to be one of the few people who knew the Hulk best.
Even if it happened by accident, how could he let the results of his hard work fall into the hands of the World Security Council just because he received an order?
So, he didn't hesitate and set out with his team to Brazil in secret, wanting to capture Dr. Banner. Speaking of the latter, he couldn't help but grit his teeth, thinking how that scientist could conquer his daughter. Banner must be captured.
He read the report carefully, and apparently, Banner was working in a factory. Although his soldiers were ready, Ross didn't immediately give orders, instead choosing to maximize his chances.
Anyway, he trusted Emil Blonsky for this operation and quickly equipped the team with gas, tranquilizers, and the like to subdue Banner.
Poor Banner, who was working in the slums, had no idea that his cover had already been blown and that two groups of wolves, well, three, counting Hydra were on their way to capture him in case he was defeated.
At this time, he was in a good mood, for after a long time of thinking, he believed he had found a good way to eliminate the monster inside him.
He had come to the factory a little earlier because of a blood sample he sent to "Mr. Blue," an anonymous man he had met online who had managed to help him a great deal.
Entering the factory, he found it empty, which was strange. But thinking it was still early morning, he didn't dwell on it.
In fact, as strange as it may sound, this way of living wasn't bad. Before, he never expected what his life would be like without science and laboratory stuff. But now, aside from having to be on guard against his own monster or the military chasing him, it wasn't bad.
Unfortunately, Banner's good mood didn't last long. He heard a slight sound, so imperceptible, but he still heard it. His months of running and escaping, his instincts—all told him it wasn't good.
Banner could only sigh as his instincts warned him something wasn't right. He dropped everything in his hands and, without hesitation, ran in the opposite direction of where he heard the sound.
Curiosity killed the cat. He didn't want to know who was following him, whether it was the American or Brazilian army. But, strangely, the face of the man who should have been his father-in-law in normal circumstances couldn't help but appear in his mind.
"Ross," he murmured, running, feeling his heart almost burn with anger. Ross was the man who had caused all his suffering, after all.
He knew that Ross wouldn't give up on hunting him, and it would only end with one of them dying. But Banner quickly calmed his mind and thought of Betty. He couldn't let his other side take over, not in such a densely populated area.
To Banner's relief, he successfully left the factory without a problem, making him doubt whether he was starting to become paranoid.
Nonetheless, better safe than sorry. He quickly slipped into an alley and scanned the surroundings, and sure enough, there was nothing, making him sigh in relief.
"Thwap-thwap-thwap-thwap-thwap"
Then he heard a sound he had heard many times before a helicopter above him. He could see Ross inside, as it was just overhead.
"Shit!" Banner couldn't help but curse. He had just started finding his new life here enjoyable, but now he was forced to flee like a criminal again.
He had enough of this cat-and-mouse game. He hadn't done anything to become a wanted criminal always on the run. He had the power to protect himself but didn't want to harm innocent people.
He knew he could join the criminal Magneto and no longer worry about being hunted or simply stop running, fight to the death against the U.S. army, show his power, and scare them. But his rationality stopped him. Now, he had simply had enough of all of this.
Banner could even imagine the smile on Ross's face as if he had won a trophy. Just then, Ross's voice came from a loudspeaker on the helicopter: "Banner! You have nowhere to go. Surrender peacefully, and no one has to get hurt."
Even from the loudspeaker, the cold, disdainful tone didn't escape Banner. Sure enough, Ross wouldn't stop until he had the Hulk under his control or worse.
Despite the anger accumulated in his heart, Banner didn't let it take control. He knew that by himself, there was no way to escape Ross, but he also didn't want to hurt many people. He wanted to reduce casualties as much as possible, so he chose to run.
He turned and sprinted down the alley, desperately searching for cover. He was known to be durable enough to resist a single bullet, after all.
Ross, who saw Banner running, just smiled. He didn't order them to fire, as it would be unfortunate to lose such a good experimental subject as Banner. Plus, his men had surrounded the area from all sides.
Sure enough, as soon as Banner rounded a corner, he came face-to-face with Ross's squad, prepared as if waiting for him. One of them shouted, "Target spotted!" and raised his weapon.
Banner felt a cold sensation all over his body as adrenaline took over. He could even feel his heartbeat. He knew he could only let his monster take over if he didn't want to end up as a subject on an experimental table.
Just when he was about to lose control of his anger and let it take over, he heard the sound of another aircraft, prompting him and the soldiers to look up.
It was SHIELD's Quinjet. Before it even landed, Emma inside had already assessed the situation and could see that Banner was ready to lose control, which wasn't good.
She quickly shouted to Natasha, who was piloting the jet, "Quickly, open the jet. The situation outside doesn't look good."
Natasha instinctively opened as she also had more or less thought the situation wasn't good; why bother fighting the Hulk when you can peacefully talk with Banner?
In short, Emma directly jumped down from the aircraft and landed at the side of Banner without even affecting the ground despite the height she jumped down and her mass. No way, Ninjas are really that unscientific.
Reed Richards murmured subconsciously:" Are you sure that she is only just the healer she said or all magicians different from what I know?"
In fact, most of the people present apart from the Fantastic Four have some understanding of Emma's physical ability, but it's what's surprising was that jumping from such a high, she still didn't affect the earth after landing, such a good control over own physical ability is simply too good.
As for Banner, who almost transformed into Hulk, he was speechless; imagine being surrounded by armed people, then someone suddenly appeared in front of you; is this the hero saving the beauty?
Ross has already judged the situation; he did have some information about Emma, plus looking at the SHIELD Quinjet, he instantly guessed that they were people sent by the World Security Council.
Still, it's very surprising; how would these people be willing to work with Mutants?
Emma sighed a breath of relief seeing that Banner didn't transform; she said jokingly: "Hello, Dr. Banner, I'm Emma Müller in cooperation with the World Security Council; nice to meet you in your normal form."
Today, it's already the third time she has introduced herself, which can be considered an achievement.
After she finished speaking, the rest of her temporary team had already left the Quinjet and came to her apart Natasha, who was the pilot.
As for the soldiers at this time, they didn't know what to do and were waiting for an order; anyway, the general was already here, and he would tell them what to do and what not.
Unfortunately, not every one of them has such a mentality; Emil, who was jealous of Banner, a geek scientist who achieved a power he didn't deserve, took the opportunity of Emma and Banner watching the team and fired a shot at Banner.
END OF THE CHAPTER
Life is really f*cking hard for everyone, especially a dreamer, anyway, we have some little action now, and wouah, I didn't expect to write more than 1.500 Words, not much for other authors but too much for me, finally, I don't know if I asked this question before but, how do you think they can win against Hulk, not adding the motherly love mentioned by others.
