Chapter 3 - A Burger Solves Many Things

I drove to the next town indicated on the map in the last town I passed through. Fortunately, the traffic was light, so I could abuse the power of my car without worrying about the local police. The town I was in was called Jasper, and it seemed to be a pretty comfortable place to live peacefully. Since it was a relatively small town, it would be difficult to have crime like in big cities.

I couldn't help but notice that a lot of people were staring at my car and me, I couldn't blame them, the car was quite unusual for a modest town. My car was customized and adapted to fit my needs perfectly as I drove around the world.

I followed the flow of traffic and had to stop when the light turned red. My radio played Survivor songs and my fingers danced to the rhythm of the drums and guitar on the steering wheel. As I enjoyed the music, I saw a famous fast food restaurant and I confess that I was getting hungry.

I must be thankful that the Allspark has not altered my biological foundation. It would be inconvenient to never be able to eat like a normal human again. Of course, because of the power of the Allspark flowing within me, it was never a biological necessity to rely on food for sustenance, but it was a matter of principle for me. I have traveled all over the world and tasted as many different delicacies as possible. I cannot deny that I have preferences, especially when it comes to hamburgers, but that does not mean that I do not try new things. It reminds me of the time when I could only eat fruit, roasted meat and insects. I thank mankind for developing the science of gastronomy.

I drove my supercar to the fast-food restaurant and had to wait for only one car. When it was my turn to order, I ordered three double-layered burgers with lots of cheese and a soda. While I was waiting, I noticed that the car in front of me had cheated the waiter and taken their food without paying. I couldn't help but roll my eyes, unfortunately a lot of people are idiots because they want to be idiots.

"I hate that kind of person, it's amazing that humanity has managed to survive with people like this." I commented irritably, approaching the window where I would get my snacks. "Must be a tough day, huh?" I asked, looking at the attendant who was a boy of at least 16 or 17.

The teenager was surprised to notice the black supercar and was fascinated by the exotic car's striking appearance.

"Yeah. Yeah! Rough day." He quickly turned around and grabbed the burgers Lux wanted. "They're 20 bucks."

I feel sorry for the kid, he's obviously a hard working, honest kid, so it's no problem to be a Good Samaritan every now and then. I discreetly use my creative powers and pull 100 $100 bills out of my pocket for a total of $10,000. In practice, I know it's a crime, but I'm no amateur when it comes to creating money out of thin air.

"What's your name, my friend?" I asked.

"My name is Jack Darby." Jack replied without much interest, just wanting to get back to work.

"Here's your money, keep the change." I casually handed him the money without ceremony. Since I can do this trick hundreds of times a day, it's no problem for me, not to mention that I practiced and abused this method even in the Roman Empire.

Jack took the money and it took him three seconds to realize the amount of money in his hand. "WAIT!!! I can't accept this!"

"Take this as a gift, I'm sure you need it more than I do." I grabbed my burgers and soda and slowly maneuvered my car into the parking lot next to the fast food joint. "Finally, the best part of my day begins!"

Lux enjoyed her snack like a child trying chocolate for the first time, oblivious to a blue motorcycle parked in the space next to him.

A few minutes earlier...

Arcee was driving around town in her vehicle mode, mourning the death of her partner Cliffjumper and needing a distraction. Driving sometimes helped her distract herself from her accumulated negative thoughts when she had her tantrums.

As she drove through the city, she noticed two suspicious cars following her, making it clear to her that they were two Decepticons on the hunt, and she was ready to fight and take some heads. However, she knew that a public battle would cause unnecessary complications and panic among the humans, so she decided to lose them for now and park near a restaurant to organize a plan of attack.

While Arcee waited, a supercar appeared and parked next to her, surprising her with its well-constructed design, even she knew that every Cybertronian would like to have this car as a disguise. She looked at the human eating his food with obvious satisfaction on his face, but there was something strange about him that made her find him interesting.

Lux looked at the blue motorcycle next to him and found it quite beautiful, completely unaware that there was a Cybertronian next to him, spying on him. The minutes passed as Lux devoured his third burger, while Arcee watched him strangely, unable to ignore a feeling of familiarity in the human, something she pondered in her cybernetic brain.

The door to the establishment opened to reveal Jack finishing his shift, cell phone in hand, talking to his mother. He was distracted until he saw the blue motorcycle that practically seduced his eyes, being a big fan of that type of vehicle. He turned off his phone and walked over to admire the beauty of the vehicle, even sitting on the seat and holding the handlebars.

"I have to admit that this is a very beautiful motorcycle, is it yours by any chance?" I asked, seeing how the boy seemed hypnotized by the vehicle.

Jack turned around and finally noticed the luxury car next to him, along with the driver who had just literally given him a $10,000 bonus. "The bike isn't mine, but one day I'd like to have one just like it."

"Motorcycles are vehicles that don't attract my attention, but I must admit that there are some versions that are extremely charming with a seductive harmony." I commented as I sipped my soda. "This bike fits the bill perfectly, you have great taste."

Arcee felt rather uncomfortable being practically fawned over because of her shape, but her distraction disappeared when she noticed the same two suspicious cars slowly approaching her, making her feel anxious and worried.

"What's your name? Are you a celebrity?" Jack asked.

"My name is Lux, I can't say that I'm exactly a celebrity, but I can guarantee that a lot of people would kill to catch me." I said it ironically with a grain of truth, normally I have a habit of only communicating the minimum with people, but this boy named Jack was someone easy to communicate with because of his personality.

"Hahahaha... you're funny, so can I assume you're on a trip? This town isn't that interesting." Jack actually had fun with Lux because he didn't seem like a rich asshole.

"In theory you're right, I'm traveling the world looking for a new adventure." I replied. "However, this place is quite peaceful compared to a big city, I could easily live here."

"Then you must have a lot of friends all over the world, I can't even imagine that in my life." Jack couldn't help but remember the humble life he had thanks to his mother's efforts. He didn't mind being poor because his mother taught him to value many things besides money.

When I heard the word friends, I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable and a little depressed. I'm not an antisocial person, but I learned a long time ago that living forever makes me understand that having friends or being attached to people is painful, very painful. Watching the people I care about grow old and die is a curse, which is why I rarely make deep friendships.

I shake my head quickly and return to my usual calm. "Jack, sometimes happiness comes from the smallest things, maybe you just need to look at it from a different perspective."

Jack was impressed by Lux's words, but before he could comment, two cars turned on their headlights at full power, hitting them with a powerful flash of light, causing both of them to close their eyes in a daze from the sudden event.

The two Decepticons, in their vehicle mode, accelerated with the intention of crashing directly into the blue motorcycle and the two humans around it.
