Chapter 4 - The Chase

The motorcycle Jack was riding suddenly began to spin as if it had a life of its own, reacting to the sudden appearance of the two cars. By some miracle and survival instinct, Jack managed to keep his balance on the bike and ran towards the two cars, passing between them in a narrow gap.

I was a little dazed by the sudden flash of light, but when I heard the sound of a car's engine coming toward me, I reversed and swerved at the last moment to avoid a collision.

The two Decepticons were surprised by the human's ability to avoid their collision, but they quickly dismissed those thoughts and pursued the Autobot along with its human companion.

I took a deep breath to recover from the shock. "WHAT WAS THAT MOTHERFUCKER TRYING TO DO, SCRATCH THE PAINT ON MY CAR?" I stared seriously in the direction of the two cars chasing Jack, but something was wrong when I looked at the driver's seats, there was no one driving.

"Oh no, they're Cybertronians!" I said out loud unconsciously. "They weren't after me, but why are they after Jack? Unless... oh no, don't tell me the bike is an alien?" I stepped on the gas and took off after Jack.

I couldn't let an innocent person get caught up in a war that wasn't his. For some reason I felt a little responsible to help him, but it's still a big risk to expose myself like this, maybe if I help him without exposing my true abilities I can live my life as usual, if I'm lucky. As I drove after the two cars chasing Jack, I glanced out of the corner of my eye at the ice gun sitting on the co-pilot's seat, hoping it would be enough for this situation.

"I definitely wasn't planning on a chase." I commented, seeing how the bike Jack was riding on was making almost absurd movements, it was quite obvious that the bike had a life of its own. "What a beauty, I've already had two alien encounters in one day, my quota is more than full."

Arcee was very frustrated because now she had to run away because of the human she was with. She needed to be smart and trick the Decepticons into ignoring the human so she could fight freely, so she took the next right on a sharp curve, almost knocking over her passenger.

As Jack jumped from the bike, he backed away with his arms raised in fear. "What are you?"

Arcee turned to him, though she wasn't assuming her true form, she was somehow quite expressive of her emotions. "You're not going to say anything about what you saw today, or I'll kill you!" She made Jack run away from her as fast as his legs could carry him.

Arcee sped away from the human, hoping the two robots on the enemy side would chase her, but her plan was futile as the two Decepticons had orders to eliminate any supposed allies of the Autobots, including the human. When she saw that one of the Decepticons was chasing Jack, she quickly changed her route and went back to get the human, but first she had to outrun the Decepticon sent to kill her.

Jack ran as fast as he could, apparently not in the habit of exercising his body, but his misfortune was not nearly over when he noticed one of the pursuers accelerating in his direction to run him over.

Before he was run over, a super sports car suddenly appeared and began drifting toward the Decepticon at high speed. Lux had his right hand out of the car, holding his ice gun, and fired the freezing ray that hit the Decepticon, soon creating a wall of ice to protect Jack.

I quickly maneuvered the car and pulled up next to Jack, opening the door at the same time. "Come with me if you want to live!" I said, taking the opportunity to reference one of my favorite action movies. I never thought I would get the chance to use that line in a real situation. Jack quickly got into the car and yelled at me to speed up and get us both out of there as quickly as possible. "Today is indeed a difficult day for you." I commented, speeding toward the highway.

"Who are these guys? They're trying to kill me!" Jack looked back and saw the car that tried to kill him again, only with ice marks on its body. "He's back! He's on our tail!"

"Calm down, screaming hysterically in my ear isn't going to give my car any more power." I commented, concentrating on not accidentally hitting any cars.

"What the hell is going on?" Jack noticed that there were now two killer cars approaching quickly, but now with weapons outside the body.

"Do you want the short or the long explanation?" I asked honestly, because it was a very difficult situation to explain either way. I could see how scared Jack was, so I decided to at least ease his fear with a little truth.

The Decepticons began firing red Energon blasts, intending to blow up Lux's car, but he showed his driving skills by dodging the deadly shots as Jack screamed in despair. His shots caused small explosions on the asphalt, causing widespread panic among the people and several cars to collide violently.

"In short, you have inadvertently entered the war between the Decepticons and the Autobots. They are autonomous cybernetic beings from the planet Cybertron, which is actually a fun place if you ignore the part about the war lasting millions of years." I replied calmly, ignoring the deadly rays that could disintegrate a human to the last atom.

"They're trying to kill us and you're acting like it's the most routine thing ever." Jack said in frustration, fearing they would be hit by the red blasts. Even though it was a matter of life and death, he was genuinely impressed by Lux's driving skills, which defied common sense. "Can you go any faster?"

"We need to get off this highway." I said, looking for a way to escape without scratching the paint on my car. At the rate we were going, it would soon be impossible for us to avoid being hit.

The Decepticons realized there was no point in firing their Energon at the two humans, so they both decided on a more brutal approach. The two accelerated quickly and managed to keep up with Lux's supercar, but before they could attack, a blue motorcycle and a yellow Camaro appeared to intercept them.

Arcee, with Bumblebee's assistance, managed to slow the Decepticons' advance, giving Lux and Jack a chance to get away as quickly as possible.

"That bike is back, and now it has company!" Jack warned as he saw the two killer cars being slowed down.

"Then let's increase the distance!" I shifted gears in my car, accelerating to over 300km/h, moving away from the alien battle on wheels.

Lux and Jack were moving away from the alien confrontation, but their relief turned to despair when they noticed that the road was ending, with a barricade serving as a warning not to proceed, as it was an overpass under construction. Lux tried to slow the car down, but realized that it would inevitably be impossible to stop the car in time, so he prioritized at least reducing the damage from the disaster.

I turned the steering wheel to the right before crossing the overpass, and the car went through the guardrail, sending us down a ravine and under the overpass. From the way we went, I imagine the suspension was completely destroyed. I looked to the side and saw Jack with his face plastered to the airbag, luckily alive, maybe with a bruise at best. I was calm, because the Allspark inside of me already provides me with a decent regeneration, even though I don't know its limits and have no interest in testing it.

I got out of the car and took the opportunity to inspect the damage, but my attention was drawn to a child playing with his remote control car, who watched me in amazement.

"Wow!!!" said the child. "Amazing."

I looked at the boy and waved at him. "Don't do that at home." I joked about the situation, not wanting to upset a child.

Jack staggered out of the car like he was drunk, holding his head with one hand. He almost threw up, but managed to avoid the embarrassing moment by sheer force of will.

"Are you okay?" I asked politely, knowing from his expression that he was fine, just disoriented from the impact and nothing like a night's sleep to help him recover.

"I think I'm okay," Jack said.

Before the situation could return to normal, a yellow robot fell from the overpass onto Lux's car, causing him to twitch as he saw his car completely destroyed, now for good.

The blue motorcycle appeared at the top of the ravine with no one on it. It quickly descended and made a graceful jump, landing next to the humans, before soon undergoing a transformation that revealed its true appearance. The blue motorcycle was now replaced by a 450 cm tall female Cybertronian. Her transformation allowed her to change her mass, becoming larger than expected compared to her vehicle mode, and her slender metallic body, despite an appearance that could be considered fragile, was coated with years of experience and war.

Arcee looked at the three humans and quickly glanced at her disoriented companion who had just been thrown from the overpass. "Come on, Bumblebee! I need your help!"

The moment Arcee said that, the two Decepticons jumped off the overpass at the same time and landed on the ground in style, weapons in hand, ready to kill everyone in the place.

"Superhero landing, the pressure on the knees is huge." I said loudly, causing the robots to stare at me for a moment before focusing on their enemies.
