Chapter 42 - Karma debt?

[3RD POV INITIALLIZE]

Despite everything returning to its previous state, the protesters in the crowd still wore expressions of shock on their faces. They were exhausted and on the verge of fainting. Some of them rubbed their stomachs and heads, trying to alleviate the pain. Deep down, they knew that something had changed within them.

The air was filled with the nauseating stench of human remains, causing some to lose control of their bodily functions, soiling themselves. Meanwhile, a red-haired man gasped for breath, kneeling with his sweaty hand on the ground.

"What just happened? It feels like I've experienced death!" the red-haired man whispered.

The two people beside him also felt the same indescribable feeling, and his words resonated with them.

"Damn, I feel the same way," replied the second voice beside him.

Some people began to vomit, and a sense of dread grew among the crowd. They started to suspect that this might be a widespread pandemic, unlike anything they had seen in the thirty years since the Gasoxic-19 pandemic. During that time, humanity had just begun its space exploration after creating a dome over the planet Tellus. Gasoxic-19 was a deadly virus transmitted through breathing the outside world's toxic gases that had managed to seep through a small crack in the dome.

However, what these protesters didn't know was that the dome shield technology was flawless. Their bodies, unaccustomed to such horror, were paralyzed. Even their memories were reset, but the terror and experience had been encrypted into their subconsciousness.

"This is the same symptom as the victims who contracted the Gasoxic virus!" cried the girl, tears streaming down her face.

Suddenly, one by one, the protesters collapsed to the ground. To make matters worse, a massive plume of smoke rose from area four, engulfing the sky. The stage was on fire, signaling that chaos and indescribable horror were spreading throughout the entire island.

The enormous smoke, visible even from nearby islands hundreds of kilometers away, caught the attention of onlookers.

The hazy black and red smoke took the shape of a human skull, a symbol of death and destruction, as it hovered above the Zero Zone island. It originated from a circular stadium with an open central area that could accommodate up to ten thousand spectators.

Within the concert stadium, thousands of people frantically tried to evacuate. Normally, the four exits would be open in all directions, allowing for a quick and orderly exit. However, due to a security guard falling unconscious, only one exit was open. This resulted in people stumbling over each other, causing deaths and injuries, with broken ribs and skulls being sustained.

Even though time had reset and there were no visible demons, the subconscious fear of danger lingered. People rushed for their lives, unsure of what was real and fake. The false reality could still be stored as a real experience, leading to panic and chaos. Many people collapsed and died as others trampled over them.

Some security guards, who managed to maintain some level of consciousness, did their best to evacuate the crowd. Meanwhile, the flames on the stage grew brighter. On that stage stood the vocalist of the band known as Black Eyes. He had been killed moments ago, his head devoured by a giant creature.

Yet now, he stood with a laser gun in hand, which he had found during the chaos. The lifeless bodies of his band members lay around him, having been killed by his own hand. He laughed wickedly, ending his own life by pointing the laser gun at his head and pulling the trigger.

As his lifeless corpse collapsed on the stage, his eyes turned completely black and opened wide in a horrified stare. In his subconsciousness, he had already abandoned all reason to live after experiencing true horror. Perhaps he had concluded that he no longer had the sanity to live a normal life, alongside his band members who were now lifeless and being consumed by the fire.

Earlier, the guitarist had snapped his guitar in half and intentionally connected a wire to the positive and negative terminals of a battery. This resulted in a massive spark and explosion that engulfed nearby fabric and gasoline, which was intended for the performance to create a more exciting atmosphere.

In this era, gasoline was not commonly used. However, prior to the concert, the Black Eyes band had proposed using gasoline to burn their instruments on stage, making the performance more thrilling. The drummer had brought a box of gasoline with him, placing it near his drum kit for later use. But now, consumed by demonic energy in his mind, despite his body being restored to life, he tragically sprayed the gasoline throughout the stage. When the vocalist, holding the laser gun, saw what the drummer was doing, he wickedly shot the gasoline, igniting the fire, and later killed the drummer before collapsing into the flames that charred his body.

Why did all of this happen to them? Some among the crowd, still able to rationalize, looked at the stage with questions in their minds. All of their favorite band members had died in one of the most tragic ways possible.

They wondered if this was karma catching up to them, the consequences of the band's hidden misdeeds behind the public eye. However, now that the Black Eyes band members were all dead, what they had done in the past no longer mattered to the deceased. After all, there were rumors of the Black Eyes band raping and molesting many girls.

They held so much power in the vibrant city and knew the world government couldn't touch them. They even threatened their victims, warning that if they dared to sue the band members, their lives would become worse than death.

Despite the rumors, some fans reasoned that they didn't need to escape immediately since they believed rescue would arrive soon. While some of them gazed at the burning stage, and speculated that perhaps this was God's judgment on the Black Eyes band, even though they were unaware of the true cause.

The white-haired man, resembling a wise sage with his purple eyes holding ancient magic, possessed almost god-like abilities. However, he couldn't reverse the effects that affected both reset reality and the narrative domain, or perhaps he chose not to for his own reasons.

Within seconds, hundreds of drones arrived at the stadium, hovering above to spray water and extinguish the fire. Equipped with the latest extinguisher technology, the drones swiftly cooled down the area and put out the flames.

The rescue team, comprised of firefighters, security guards, police officers, doctors, and nurses, along with flying cars with emergency lights, also arrived at the stadium. A squad of policemen entered the control room to open the four gates.

One of the policemen, watching the security camera footage through a holographic display, replayed what had happened. He couldn't comprehend the sudden change in the audience's behavior, from happily singing along to collapsing, losing their sanity, screaming, and exhibiting aggression. He also couldn't fathom the suicide of the Black Eyes vocalist after murdering his band members.

Suddenly, a man dressed in a black robe with a mask of a smiling angelic face, adorned with a red pyramid emblem on the forehead, approached the policeman from behind.

The man, his voice distorted, instructed the policeman not to share the footage with the public. Fear filled the policeman's eyes as he recognized the man as an elite from high society.

Though the man currently wore a mask to conceal his identity, the policeman knew exactly who he was. The red pyramid emblem symbolized the elite, who, while not as powerful as the masked men with the sun cross emblem, the elite still commanded great power.

The policeman understood that refusing the masked man's request could result in his body being devoured by a dog and his death being reported as a mysterious murder the next day. Fearful of the consequences, he obediently nodded and swallowed his saliva.
