Chloe's Point of View
The drive back to the office felt like a blur. My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned white. Victor's presence at the hospital had rattled me more than I wanted to admit. The fact that he paid for Emily's bills and waltzed into her life like nothing had happened made my blood boil. I couldn't trust him, but I didn't have the luxury of dwelling on it. Not when Jonathan's entire world was unraveling and we had enemies circling us like sharks.
As I pulled into the parking lot, a thought crept into my mind—one I hadn't wanted to confront but could no longer ignore. How far was Victor willing to go? Was he truly just after the company, or was there something more to his return?
I pushed open the door to the office, my mind still swirling with questions. The clack of my heels echoed in the empty corridor as I made my way to my desk. But as I approached Jonathan's office, something felt… off.
