Chereads / Beneath Secrets and Scandalous Pain / Chapter 15 - The Great Escape

Chapter 15 - The Great Escape

It was the sound of an alarm going off that woke Matilda from her sleep. She shook her hands, which were bound with handcuffs, and hissed. No one was with her in the room; all the men were out due to some emergency.

Matilda looked at the ceiling and rolled her eyes. There was a camera installed up there. She quickly opened the door and walked out. The red light didn't go off, and the blaring resounded in her ear every second. She held her breath and began to pray to her God. Should anyone catch her, then she was dead for real. She was glad she was wearing jeans and a shirt; that would make her run well if there was a need for it. Her breath became faster with every breath.

She came upon a door and realized she had to swipe a card or something before she got caught. But she had none! She knew what she was about to do was foolish, but she decided to do it anyway. She heaved and stretched forth her hand to the door.

"Are you crazy?" she heard a voice that sent chills down her spine. She turned around to see the man who fixed her feelings.

"What are you—"

"Come with me," Cedric held her wrist and dragged her. "Don't run; they'll catch us," Matilda furrowed her brows.

"Who did you think set up all this? If you want to live, shut up and follow me!" Cedric hissed and ran faster. Matilda really shut up and ran after him. She wanted to live so badly, after thinking about the sufferings she had gone through in the hands of Singh in India.

"Why are you helping me?" Matilda asked as they ran.

"I've always been helping you from day one. Thank Leo when you see him," Cedric added, and she raised her brow.

"You mean Leonardo Grey. I don't like it when someone lies to me, so tell me the truth. I know you're a powerful man, but not that powerful to deal with Singh and something like me. I'm wanted in India!" Matilda cried out loud.

Cedric suddenly pulled her to himself and covered her mouth with his palm. They were both pushed to the wall, with her body smashing against his. Matilda gasped and held her breath. She could hear heavy footsteps approaching where they stood. She began to pray that the person wouldn't find them.

"Matilda!!!" She heard the angry voice of Singh. It was Singh coming.

"Matilda!!" He yelled with an angrier voice and went in the opposite direction.

"Run!" Cedric yelled when she was still rooted to the ground. Matilda began to run for her dear life with him at her back. They were soon in an open space. Matilda was surprised to see a chopper on the rooftop.

As she ran to the chopper, she heard a gunshot. She turned around and saw Cedric running with his bloody arm. She widened her eyes in shock, but he held her hand and ran with her to the chopper.

"Stop there, Matilda!!" Singh yelled and began to shoot in the air. He positioned his gun well and decided to target Matilda. He got a clear view of her and fired. Unfortunately, they were about to enter the chopper, and the bullet grazed Cedric's arm. Cedric fell into the chopper and landed on Matilda's lap. Matilda began to panic when he was unconscious after some seconds.

"Go!" She yelled at the pilot and stared at the unconscious body of Cedric.

"What is it?" Leo darkened with displeasure. He hadn't been in a good mood since morning.

Darcy gulped his spit and answered, "Cedric was shot during the rescue operation."

"So?" Leo asked with a cold tone.

"I was wondering if we are going to see him," Darcy said slowly.

"Do you want to retire so soon? Roman would take care of him. No one told him to go and rescue that criminal. He's responsible for his condition. Since you care about Cedric so much, turn in your resignation letter and leave," Leo's eyes flashed with anger.

"I also have something to discuss with you," Darcy said seriously.

"What is it?" Leo asked.

"It's true that Santiago managed to steal our client with his devious idea. He trapped them by reducing the fees the company was supposed to pay," Darcy retorted.

"You mean that Santiago managed to secure a deal with Bacos with thirty-three percent off the original cost?" Leo was surprised. He never knew Santiago was such a big fool.

"He believes the deal with Bacos would get him more deals with other companies," Darcy replied.

"What does the next company say about this?" Leo interrogated.

"They've refused to be partners with Bacos due to the percentage orchestrated by Santiago. They sent us a mail saying they would like to partner with us instead," Darcy remarked and saw Leo smile.

"Does Santiago know about this?" Leo smirked.

"He just got to know this morning," Darcy replied.

"How did he take the good news?" Leo laughed.

"What's done is done, Leonardo. He has to take care of Bacos before he looks for another company to partner with him," Darcy chuckled.

"Don't forget to send him flowers for his success," Leo had a clever glint in his eyes.

Darcy cleared his throat when Dominic came in. It was his long legs that gave his identity out. He was looking more charming and different.

Leo rolled his eyes when he saw Dominic and continued working on his system.

"Let me guess, Darcy. I'm still a stranger for you to stop talking," Dominic hissed.

"I wasn't talking, Dom," Darcy hissed back.

"What's with your hair?"

"I have to impress Abi since I want to get her," Dominic declared and touched his hair proudly.

Leo raised his head to look at Dominic.

"She's not here," Leo said coldly.

"I know. She's at her friend's house," Dominic replied.

"I called before coming."

"So, what are you still doing here?" Leo queried.

"Can't I come to see you again? I came alone because the others are busy with work," Dominic laughed.

"I'm also busy. You would see that if you're not blind. But Abi has blinded you these days, so I won't be surprised if you were involved in an accident on your way here one day," Leo said in one breath.

"Ouch!" Dominic held his chest and stood up.

"No one spoiled your relationship with Ophelia, Leo. I heard you both had a good time this morning. She called me to say that."

"She calls you?" Leo asked with a frown.

"Of course. You're still with her, and you don't see Abi as your wife, so why won't I pick her calls?" Dominic replied.

Leo had a deep thought when Dominic said that. What does he mean by that? Was that what everyone was thinking?

"Actually, I came here so we can go and see Cedric together. He's with that Indian criminal too. Benjamin said she's pretty," Dominic laughed.

"Send my greetings to him as you go. Darcy may follow you since he's resigning soon," Leo declared with a grin.

"Whatever!" Dominic hissed and dragged Darcy out of his office.

Scent from ago company Ophelia's car pulled up in the garage, and she stepped out of it with pride. She rolled her key on her index finger and whistled as she catwalked into the company. The employees stared at her. She knew they were staring, and that was what she had always wanted.

She walked past the secretary and barged into the CEO's office. Santiago raised his head to look at the human who dared to barge into his office without fear. A smile found its way to his lips when he realized it was Ophelia.

"What are you doing here?" he asked and dropped the pen in his hand on his table.

"It's obvious, duh! I came to see you," Ophelia said and threw her bag onto one of the sofas. She then walked to him and zipped down her gown.

Santiago stared at her boobs, which came into sight, and his mouth watered. The zip was in the front of the gown, and it was her bare boobs that were out. She walked to him and sat on his laps.

" Aren't you scared that someone would come in?" he asked her with a smirk.

"This is Santiago Spider's office. Who would dare walk in carelessly?" Ophelia asked and stared at him.

"What do you want?" Santiago asked and continued to touch her boobs.

"You didn't come to my show. You embarrassed me, so you have to make up for that," she said shamelessly.

She wants money, a lot of it, and she was going to get it that day because she needs money so badly! She wants to get the latest bag that just came out three days ago. She had seen the bag with Abi that morning. What annoyed her the most was that it was Leo who got her the bag. She asked him to get it for her too, but he told her he couldn't. So, she has to get it by all means and boast to her friends that Leo bought her the bag. It costs a lot, and she would need about thirty million dollars! Why would Leo spend such on his stupid wife?! He doesn't love her, so why would he get her something so expensive?

"Baby, I need to buy a bag," Ophelia finally revealed to him.

"Buy it," Santiago said, confused.

"Should I buy it?" She was happy and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Give me your card, then. I'll come to see you tonight, baby," Ophelia covered his lips with hers.

"How much is it?" He asked her.

"It's just thirty million dollars," Ophelia whispered and watched him closely. He's going through a storm in his business, and she was asking for that much?! Ophelia began to zip up her gown and stood up.

"I should buy it?" She asked.

"Ophe—"

"It's fine. I'll just go to Leo—" Santiago quickly fished out his card from his pocket and gave it to her.

"Just thirty million dollars, Ophelia," Santiago breathed heavily.

"The information I usually give you about him is worth more than that money," Ophelia hissed.

"But not your pussy," He replied, and heard her hiss. He also stood up and held her waist.

"Since you're here, why don't we go for a round?" He took out a condom from his pocket and tore it with his teeth. Ophelia laughed when they both landed on the chair. He unbuckled his belt and wore the condom on his length. Her legs were spread apart since she didn't take her clothes off. She watched him loosen his tie around his neck.

Cedric opened his eyes and looked at Dominic and Darcy in annoyance as they stepped into his ward.

"Why?" Dominic laughed.

"You're sad that Leo didn't come along," Darcy gave Cedric a bouquet of flowers and looked at the girl who was asleep beside him.

Logan saw his gaze on her and cleared his throat, "That's the fugitive."

"She's not a fugitive," Cedric corrected Logan.

"Who's she then? Why did you risk your bloody life to save her?" Benjamin asked. The others looked at Cedric for an explanation because they wanted to know too.

"Leo wanted her safe," Cedric stammered.

"Cedric the great is stammering," Dominic said purposely and saw Cedric blush.

"Do you like her?" Logan laughed, and he quickly denied.

"What? No! I just went to save her myself because I didn't want anything to get in the way," Cedric said quickly.

"Really?" Darcy teased him.

The girl moved, and she raised her head from the bed. She froze when she saw four men around her. She was nervous and speechless.

"Hi!" Dominic waved at her while flashing his hair.

"She can see, Dom," Darcy said purposely.

"I didn't ask you, Darcy," Dominic replied with a big frown.

"This is a hospital, not a hall for debate. You both should get out if you want to argue," Cedric hissed.

"I would win if we were to argue because, after all, you're my lawyer too," Dominic smirked.

"In your dreams," Darcy hissed.

"I would rather win in my dream than lose to you in real life," Darcy heard Dominic say proudly.

"You're so stupid. I didn't know how your business became successful," Darcy insulted Dominic and heard a gasp from everyone, including Matilda.

"Enough!" Logan yelled.

"What would the fugitive think of us?" He asked and got a hard stare from Cedric.

"Are you fine now?" Matilda stood up and examined Cedric's arm.

"I'm fine. It hurts a little bit, though," He added and saw her worry.

"This is all my fault! I'm so sorry," Matilda bit her lips when she saw how the doctor had wrapped his arm with bandages.

"Thanks for saving me," Matilda said and knew she was still in captivity because she couldn't just leave. There were guards by the ward too. She wanted to see who this Leo guy was by herself because she was already feeling intimidated.

It had been four days since Leo saw Abi. Leo wasn't happy with her. He wasn't even happy with himself. He knew she was avoiding him, and he swore he would see her that morning, whether she liked it or not.

He got his phone and decided to send her her allowance. He sent her ten million dollars. He quickly typed a message saying, "I'm sorry for taking so long to send your allowance." He noticed she was online, but she didn't respond to his message. The water on his wet hair dripped to the bed and soaked it with each drop. He didn't care about that. He tried to put some of his thoughts together. "Is she texting that bastard?" he asked himself, his expression transforming from calmness to fury. He began to call her. He scoffed when she rejected his call. He then sent a message saying, "Come to my room now. I need your help." Soon, he heard a soft knock on his door.

"Come in," he said coldly and quickly sat up. He stared at his wife as she walked into his room with a frown. What has he done now?

"I saw your message," Abi said with a low voice.

He wasn't well-dressed; he was just wearing his singlet, and his trousers weren't zipped up. Leo raised his head to look at her. It looked like she was busy; there were paints all over her clothes, and he furrowed his brows.

"What are you doing? Playing with paints?" he asked and sneezed.

Abi looked at him and scoffed. "I paint when I'm bored, so I was painting."

"Why didn't you dry your hair? You've caught a cold," Abi scolded him and took out a towel from his drawer.

"Did you see the money I sent to you? I just sent your allowance," he said.

"You did? I'll check it later. Thanks," she replied and began to dry his hair with the small towel in her hand. She didn't know why she did that, but she just continued drying his hair. She knew he was staring at her; it was her instinct.

"So, what did you need my help with?" Abi queried as she dried his hair.

"I hurt my hand because I type a lot," Leo lied and stared into her eyes. They were looking at each other now.

"Oh! You need my help in typing some documents. No problem," she replied to him.

"Not that, stupid!" Leo hissed inwardly and looked at her closely. He could smell her scent, and he must confess that he liked it. It was so mild and warm to his nose. She smelled like milk and dry orange. Her skin was so fair and spotless. Her hair had some bangs in it, and it was silky. It was also shiny that morning. He would have asked her if she was going on a date, but the clothes on her body answered his question.

"I need you to wear my clothes for me," he told her.

Abi froze when she heard that. She would come into contact with his skin, and even more. What the hell?!
