Emily took a deep breath before finally speaking. "I walked into your room to deliver your breakfast when I saw Valerie putting the dress in your closet." Sophia's eyes widened in shock.
"Valerie?" Sophia repeated, her voice low.
Emily nodded. "Yes, I was about to come in, but then I saw her, and she looked so angry. She muttered something about teaching you a lesson."
Sophia felt a surge of anger, but she kept her composure. "Thank you for telling me, Emily. I promise I won't say anything."
Emily looked relieved. "Thank you, miss. I was so scared. She said she would hurt me and fire me if I spoke up."
Sophia's heart went out to Emily. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. I'll make sure nothing happens to you."
Emily smiled weakly. "Thank you, miss."
Sophia watched Emily hurry away, her mind reeling with thoughts. Why would Valerie go to such lengths to frame her? What had she done to deserve such hatred?
