"Do you want to stay the night?"
The sun was setting and already the crickets were out in force. The birds too were returning home and chatting with their neighbors about their day. Aron and I were going down the steps at the back of the station.
Aron stopped and turned back to look at me. He had just reached the ground while I was still one step up and, for once, at eye level with him.
I'd messed up. I was being too impatient, too… needy. I quickly looked away and tried to think of an excuse to change the subject.
Strong arms went around my waist and pulled me from the steps and I fell forward against Aron's chest.
"Can I really?" I heard him ask and my heart skipped a beat. Just three words but I could clearly hear his desire in them. I reached up and ran my thumb along his jaw.
