ANIKA'S POV
BACK TO PRESENT
" Hey, Anika. Are you really going to Levi's office to tell him about your pregnancy?" Stella asked through the video call and I nodded.
I didn't know how to feel.
I have no idea if this was the right way or rather the wrong way, but no matter which way it was, I had to tell him sooner or later.
It wouldn't be nice for him to hear from one of my friends or our house keeper, Caroline that I'm pregnant.
" Yes, Stella. I will tell him today." I took a deep breath, preparing myself what was going to happen next.
" You have my full support, Anika. Go for it." Lily cheered me and I smiled slightly.
" What about Rosie? Why isn't she always present?" I asked, my brows knitted together.
I just couldn't tell why she was avoiding us, or rather giving excuses so as not to join our gathering, video calls and all that.
" Maybe she's busy." Lily shrugged.
" Okay girls, I will take my leave now." I waved at them and turned off the video call.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I touched my small baby bump which was almost invisible.
How would Levi take this news?
Will it be good or bad news for him?
Those thoughts ran through my mind.
" You have no time to think, let's just act and get this over with." My inner mind said to me.
With another deep breath, I wore my peach gown, which stopped above my thighs.
I let my curly hair down, and wore my perfume before leaving the room.
Since Levi didn't remember our wedding anniversary, I had to surprise him.
" Caroline!" I called and a middle aged woman came out of the kitchen.
" Miss."
" Take care of the house, I will be back soon enough." I said and left the house afterwards.
The drive to Levi's office took no less than thirty minutes.
I have been at his company for more than I could remember.
I almost attend his office with him every day when we just got married.
When our love was still as bright as the day, but now, it was clouded with darkness that I could barely find my way out.
Upon getting to his company, I drove in and sat in my car for about five minutes, trying to compose myself.
My heart was racing faster for some reason, and I had a bad sign, but I ignored it.
It was now or never.
If I don't tell him today, being our anniversary, there won't be a proper time to tell him anymore.
Stepping out of my car, I walked into the company, and most employees who knew who I was, welcomed me with respect.
I felt warm inside of me.
I was sure many ladies were jealous of me. They might be thinking our love was still as bright as it was when we just got married.
They were jealous because I have a billionaire husband who loves me to the moon and back. I also have my art gallery which I had set up without the help of Levi.
Even during the opening of the art gallery two years ago, he promised to show up, but never did.
I cried my eyes out until it became puffy and swollen, but Levi still didn't return home for days after the opening of my art gallery.
When he did, he said he had an important trip to Dubai and he couldn't miss it for anything in this world.
That was when it dawned on me, that I really didn't mean anything to him.
With a deep breath, I approached his secretary, whose eyes widened upon seeing me.
She looked extremely suspicious, but I waved the thought away and walked towards her.
" Good day Mrs. Banks." She smiled nervously, and I didn't miss that.
" How are you, Rita?" I smiled slightly. " Is my husband in?" I asked, looking through the sound proof, non-transparent door of his office.
" No!" She raised her voice a bit higher than usual, and that raised my suspicion once more.
What was Levi up to that made his secretary this afraid of me?
" So where is he?" I asked.
" He is currently in a meeting, Mrs. Banks. Please return home and I will inform him of your presence." Rita said, her head hung low.
She couldn't look me in the eyes because that came out as a lie.
Me and Rita were close three years ago, but as my marriage began to drift apart, I stopped being friends with her.
" Tell me the truth, Rita. Where is Levi?" I asked, my voice hardening and she gulped in fear.
She remained silent and I took that as my clue to go into Levi's office.
I pushed the door to his office open, and the scene in front of me felt like a romance movie, where the husband was cheating on the wife with her best friend.
That was exactly the scene in front of me.
Levi was fucking my best friend, Rosie on his cushion inside his office, and they were both sweating under the AC.
A bile rose to my throat and I felt my stomach churning.
My eyes twisted painfully in tears and I felt like throwing up everything I ate in the morning.
" What are you doing here?" Levi gave me a stern look.
" I…I.." I couldn't form a word out of my mouth.
" I told you not to come into my office without informing me." He yelled, still inside Rosie, who wanted more of him, and didn't care if I was there.
" Today is our fourth year wedding anniversary, Levi." I said, a drop of tears leaving my eyes. " You forgot our wedding anniversary, and now I came to tell you some good news, this is what I met."
I didn't know if I should cry or laugh, because the scene in front of me was ridiculously funny and painful.
I knew he sleeps around, but I never knew one of my best friends were part of his numerous whores.
" I see that you're busy." I sniffled, wiping my tears out of my eyes. " I will let you continue."
With that said, I turned around and walked out of his company.
I looked so calm for someone whose husband was caught cheating on her.
Maybe, all the love and care I once harboured for him, died the minute I saw him having sex with my best friend.
Once I arrived home, I met Caroline cleaning the dining room. I said nothing as I went to my room.
I packed up everything which belonged to me and left behind all the jewellery, the expensive perfumes, the designer bags and shoes he bought for me.
Going through my wardrobe, I came across the divorce papers I have been keeping for two years.
I signed on my part and took the papers with me downstairs.
Caroline wasn't in the dining room when I returned downstairs.
I placed the divorce papers on the cushion, alongside my engagement ring and wedding ring.
No matter how I tried to force tears out of my eyes, not even a drop fell.
Maybe, it will be over now.
I have been able to crawl my way out of this dark marriage, and I wasn't going to return, not ever.
With a determined look, I left his penthouse and didn't look back until I flagged a cab and left for Stella's apartment.
Upon getting to her place, I met her washing the dishes in her kitchen.
She was so surprised to see me with my luggages.
" Bestie, what happened?" She asked, rushing towards me.
" I caught Levi fucking Rosie inside his office." I said.
" Which Rosie? The Rosie I know of or another one?" Stella asked, her brows furrowed.
" Rosie, our friend. She felt no remorse as she was imploring Levi to even fuck her more." I said and exhaled.
" So? What did you do?" Stella sat beside me, ready to hear the full gist.
" I left him a divorce papers, my wedding and engagement rings, and also everything he bought for me. I left everything behind."
I said, my voice filled with sadness, not because I caught Levi cheating on me, but because I couldn't save our drowning marriage.
" So what will you do now?"
" I'm going to the Philippines by tomorrow." I said, my voice filled with determination and resilience.
" Oh dear bestie. I'm coming with you." Stella said, smiling brightly as she grabbed her phone to book her flight with me to the Philippines.
" Why?" I asked.
" You're pregnant, I can't leave you alone."
...….
LEVI'S POV
I returned home after fucking Rosie in my office.
I didn't even feel a bit of remorse when I saw tears leave Anika's eyes.
Was our marriage really dead?
I didn't even feel sad or guilty for cheating on my wife? Why?
" Anika!" I called once I entered the penthouse.
I was enveloped by the shallowness and emptiness.
" Anika!" I called once more, but got no reply.
Walking upstairs to her room, I didn't see her, but I noticed that most of her clothes were gone, which made my heart drum even faster for some reason.
Rushing downstairs, I met Caroline as she was about to leave the house.
" Welcome Sir."
I ignored her greetings and went straight to the point.
" Where is Anika?" I asked, my voice more desperate than I thought it would be.
" I have no idea Sir, she returned home and disappeared like she never came." Caroline said, bowed her head and walked out of the house.
I dipped my fingers inside my scalp and looked around the sitting room, my eyes caught a file and two shining rings on it.
My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach upon seeing it, and it took the last strength in me to be able to walk towards it.
I gulped in fear as I opened the file to see a divorce paper.
At that very moment, I felt a different rush of emotions inside of me.
Emotions that I never knew existed.
This wasn't right.
She wasn't supposed to leave.
I never imagined Anika leaving me despite how much she had endured when our marriage was at the brink of collapsing.
I dashed out of the house with the speed of lighting and drove out of the penthouse like a mad man.
I couldn't think straight, not when Anika wasn't around me anymore.
I began to call all of heer friends but none picked, but luckily, after a few tries, Lily picked up.
" Hey Lily, where is Anika?" I asked.
" I have no idea." She replied and I bit my lips, almost drawing out blood.
" I can't seem to reach Stella or Anika." I said, my voice laced with frustration.
" What about Rosie? Why did you fuck your wife's friend?" Lily asked, her voice filled with hatred. " Were you expecting Anika to stay with you after what you did?""
I gues her friends where aware of how I fucked up.
I had no idea what came over me.
" Well, you can't find her again, because she's gone. Anika is gone out of your life forever."
Those words hit me harder than I thought they would.
I have lost my wife forever.
