Since Wayne had brought it up, the twins no longer kept it hidden and took out a piece of parchment map.
Fred cleared his throat and pointed his wand at the parchment. "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
The previously blank map suddenly had ink swirling and quickly forming into a detailed layout. Unlike the map made by Wayne, this one had a much wider scope, covering the entire castle, the surrounding lawn, the Quidditch pitch, and a small part of the Forbidden Forest. Wayne's map only outlined the educational area of the castle, without any of those particular locations.
The most impressive feature of the map was the multitude of names scattered across it, some clustered together, and others moving around.
Cedric stared wide-eyed. "Where did this come from?"
"Wayne, did you create a more advanced version?"
"I definitely don't have the ability for that right now." Wayne took the map and quickly discovered the presence of contract magic, extensive tracking spells, and various enchantments related to names.
Could the Marauder's Map actually be the product of Sirius and his friends during their school days? Wayne found himself deeply skeptical. How could a few students have made something so extraordinary?
"Invisible and undetectable."
Wayne pulled out his wand and cast a disillusionment charm on himself. Instantly, his name disappeared from the map, with only the Weasley twins' and Cedric's names remaining visible in the room.
"Can it do that?" Fred gasped in amazement at the sight.
George explained to Cedric, "Fred and I were locked in by Filch, and he made us clean out the closet. This is what we took from his drawer."
"It took a lot of effort to figure it out," Fred chimed in. "George almost threw that piece of parchment away—thank goodness he didn't."
The two exchanged a knowing smile.
Wayne examined the map a bit longer but still couldn't find Wormtail Peter's name; he finally returned it to the twins.
Of course, considering that Wormtail was one of the map's creators, given his cowardly nature, he probably used every spell available to conceal his identity. Not being able to find him was to be expected.
Fred carefully folded the map and put it away. While they still had a few months to use it, they needed to hurry and document all of Hogwarts' secret passageways.
Since Wayne had promised to help them, they set Cedric aside to create the map, and Wayne then discussed the sale of feather quills with the twins. They were both social butterflies, having friends in every house except Slytherin.
Wayne did not wish to invest too much effort into managing this; Hermione and Cho weren't particularly interested either. It was just the right time for them to arrive.
In the original timeline, the Weasley twins had turned the joke shop into a bustling business, which proved their talent for entrepreneurship.
For every quill sold, they would give the twins a ten percent cut, and if it was one they made themselves, they would earn twenty percent.
Fred and George had no objections to this. Once they found something that interested them, even their mischievous nature could be tempered enough for them to focus on learning.
