Ten black cards appeared in response, each bursting forth with its own unique light at Wayne's command.
Six white, three blue, and one purple.
The white cards contained little of value; the most basic reward was one gallon, followed by various basic potion materials. The quantity varied depending on their worth, but all were easily available in the market, so Wayne skipped over them.
The three blue cards offered decent rewards, all in the form of spells: Armor Defense, Thunder Explosion, and Sandstorm. Wayne had already mastered these three spells, and upon mentally integrating them, he found that he now had a deeper understanding of them.
Looking at the panel, he saw that all of them had reached the advanced level. Beyond that, only the master level remained. Of course, reaching the master level did not mean that the spells had reached their limits. Harry, for example, was able to contend with Voldemort using just one "Expelliarmus," and the power he unleashed far surpassed others—this was the best example.
The path of magic is long and has no true limits.
Finally, he looked at the purple card. As the purple light faded, Wayne clearly saw the content and couldn't help but feel a bit strange.
[Talent Spell: Mana Flow Band]
Mana Flow Band? Isn't that a skill from League of Legends? Can it really be drawn here?
He then glanced at the skill description.
[Mana Flow Band: Sorcery, Passive Talent. For every type of magic that reaches an advanced realm, it permanently provides a slight increase to total mana and mana recovery speed.]
What a good thing!
Wayne showed a pleased expression. Mana is a nebulous concept but does objectively exist. To this day, the magical community has not found any means to enhance one's mana; it can only grow naturally with age and time. Simply put, it still relies on talent. Some wizards may live long lives, but if they lack talent, their mana capacity won't increase significantly.
As the disguised target Little Barty Crouch once said, even if those low-year students cast "Avada Kedavra" on him, it would likely just make him bleed from the nose.
Wayne's mana talent was rated SS. His current mana level was already on par with most seventh-year students about to graduate. But who wouldn't want to play with unlimited power?
By fusing the talent, Wayne immediately felt a noticeable increase in his mana. As more and more spells reached the advanced level, the benefits provided by the Mana Flow Band would continue to grow.
This was sheer potential.
With the purple card yielding such results, he truly felt he had gained something worthwhile.
"Continue drawing cards!" Wayne commanded happily.
He drew another ten cards, and this time, the purple reward was the Soul Bind curse from the three Unforgivable Curses, which wasn't particularly useful. During his third ten draw, he hit a very powerful defensive spell, the Aegis Shield, also called the Aegis Shield of Perseus.
In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus possessed a shield made from the hide of the ram Amalthea, crafted by the fire god Hephaestus. This shield not only contained Zeus's divine power but later incorporated the head of the snake demigod Medusa. When Athena was born, Zeus bestowed this shield upon her, and she wielded it in battles.
Since this spell dared to bear a name from mythology, its power should not be underestimated.
Ordinary armor can resist most spells but cannot defend against the Killing Curse. If the opponent's magic is too strong, it can even knock the caster away. However, the Aegis Shield can defend against the Killing Curse as long as the caster has sufficient mana; it is said to be invincible.
With this spell, Wayne's safety was significantly ensured.
During his fourth ten-draw, he obtained a weather spell that could command wind, rain, and thunder.
The fifth ten-draw yielded a high-level potion recipe: the Thinking Potion, which can enhance thinking speed and increase brain activity. It is similar to the Bewildering Potion but more effective and without the post-effects of fatigue from the latter.
However, Wayne's expression turned grim.
"Can you believe it? It's a guaranteed draw at the end."
He was just one bad draw away from the guarantee, having drawn once during the summer and twice after school started. Now he was nearing his hundredth draw.
"System, continue with the ten-draw!"
A golden light filled the entire screen, then dimmed to reveal the rest of the cards, including two purple and three blue cards. Wayne eagerly opened the golden card.
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained the advanced reward Observation Haki. After localization, it has been optimized to: Dynamic Perception.]
[Dynamic Perception: Can sense the life forces around, significantly enhancing observation, and with training to the master level, allows for brief foresight of the future.]
It wasn't a particularly powerful spell, nor was it a template for enhancing talent. Instead, it was a more auxiliary ability.
But Wayne felt that this magic was by no means inferior to high-level templates.
A wizard duel is not as simple as standing still and casting spells; evading or countering an opponent's spells relies on experience and reflexes.
With dynamic perception, he can anticipate the enemy's every move and detect subtle actions with clarity. Even Voldemort, if his spells miss the target, is just a Muggle.
If he can't win, he wouldn't even want to die?
Closing his eyes, he absorbed information about dynamic perception.
This is a type of status magic, similar to the levitation charm. It doesn't consume much magical power, but it is quite difficult to learn. Thanks to the system's guidance, Wayne's proficiency in this magic jumped directly to the intermediate level.
However, to advance to the advanced level, he would need to practice on his own gradually.
Having cast dynamic perception on himself, Wayne could clearly sense the direction of the wind outside the skylight and the noisy voices of over a hundred students from the next room.
He could even spot a mosquito flapping its wings on Toby's suitcase.
His vision, hearing, insight, and sixth sense were all significantly enhanced.
In a magical world where most wizards need to chant spells, his observational skills and ability to foresee the future were practically unmatched.
"I hit the jackpot," Wayne murmured to himself, feeling ecstatic as he remembered that there were still other cards he hadn't drawn.
Two purple cards yielded a bottle of Felix Felicis, while another card revealed a Black Magic curse.
After finishing his sixty draws, he had made considerable progress. He had advanced the levels of several spells to advanced, and his magical capacity had significantly increased due to a passive ability. He also learned a few dark spells and the Shield Charm, enriching his arsenal, along with the newly acquired dynamic perception.
Wayne was eager to test out just how much his skills had improved.
He suddenly thought of a brilliant experiment location: the Gryffindor common room.
It was already half past eleven at night.
Hearing the snores of Seamus and Dean, Harry opened his eyes and quietly asked, "Ron, are you asleep?"
"Of course not! I've been thinking about how to deal with Malfoy later," came Ron's voice, accompanied by the sound of him changing clothes. "How about we wait until his spell doesn't work and then punch him right in the nose?"
"Why not a little lower? I'll give him a good kick."
"You're cruel! Malfoy would kill you for that."
While Harry was also changing clothes, the two of them kept their voices down to avoid waking their two roommates as they made their way to the common room.
The usually lively common room was eerily silent now, with only the crackling of the firewood in the fireplace breaking the quiet, emanating a faint warmth and glow.
Seeing that no one was in the common room made the two of them breathe a sigh of relief as they walked out the main door.
