"Team Alpha to team beta, is the signal clear? I repeat is the signal clear?" a distant radio transmission ringed in a walkie talkie. Still, no response. Two soldiers were positioned inside the corridors of what looked like an abandoned building. The cracked ceilings were inhabited by it's local flora. Vines running down the walls were escaping through the shatter windows.
"Dammit watchduty sucks! And why did they even choose THIS place as a stronghold anyways". Two men in who looked like they were in their 30's slouched along the walls. They were dressed in brown camouflage uniforms with well equipped armory. They were assigned to guard the corridor to the level 4 of the stranded property. "Hey Alex watch over for a while will ya?"
"What makes you think I'm gonna do that-"
"Heroine. I'll hook you up with some of that sweet my mate. You know that I have connections with the captain right?" Alex jumped on to the offer with no second thoughts "3 hours. Deal?"
"Deal." The other soldier rested his eyes off while Alex had to cover for both of them.
An hour passes by. He was also starting to get a bit dizzy seeing his partner rest without a care in the world. A sudden metallic noise startles him and he went inside the hallway to check what it was.
Slash. Alex felt a sudden stinging sensation around his neck. Blood started dripping down the floor like bloodstream and everything around Alex started distorting as collapsed onto the crimson floor with a scream loud enough to alert his partner up. Sure enough he was back in his senses. His eyes wandered around the entirety of the four walls in search of any anomalies. Only then did he notice what looked like blood splashed across the entirety of his vision and soon in his hands too. Someone had shot a bullet right through his guts. He staggered and tripped trying to process what was happening but death showed him mercy from suffering any longer.
"Team beta. Reporting in the area has been secured."
"........" the radio line fell silent.
"Team beta already reported in for sector 3. And your signals show the coordinates in sector 5. Ah... Welcome back, ARES."
A tall man geared up in what looked like a mercenary of some kind would wear but it had the symbol of Zwireich military engraved at the chest. He pulled his safety helmet off. "It sure does feel good to be back home." he said whilst darting a smiling towards the corpses upon corpses of dead soldiers.
