Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Should You Open the Door or Should I Break It?

"We've already broken up," Chi Yue repeated.

"Tell me, who is it exactly?"

Just as Chi Yue was about to speak, someone knocked on the door, and Fu Rao roared furiously, "Who the fuck is so clueless?"

A deep and pleasant male voice came from outside, "Are you opening the door or should I break it down?"

It was Fu Rongyin.

In the Fu Family, there were two people Fu Rao feared the most, and Fu Rongyin was one of them.

Frustrated, he muttered a curse and opened the door.

Two elders outside cursing dragged him away.

Chi Yue stood behind the door for a while, the sound of footsteps growing fainter, and she straightened her clothes, opened the door, and instantly froze.

"Mr. Fu?"

Fu Rongyin's deep black eyes swept over her subtly, "I'll find someone to send you back."

Chi Yue, "No need to bother, I can go back myself."

Chi Yue left the wedding venue, hailed a cab, and gave the driver her apartment address.

The car hadn't been driving long when her phone rang; it was the hospital.

"Miss Chi, your mother's account balance is insufficient, please come to the hospital to pay as soon as possible."

Chi Yue pursed her lips, "I'll come by later."

Her mother had always been healthy until one day she suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with late-stage cancer.

Two days into chemotherapy, her father returned home with his mistress and a half-sister a year older than her; after Chi Yue talked back, she was kicked out of the house that very night.

Taking a deep breath, Chi Yue gave the driver a new address.

Although reluctant to return to that home, who hasn't bent over for a few pieces of silver?

At the Chi Family's front gate, Chi Yue entered the password, only to find it had been changed.

She pressed her lips together and rang the doorbell.

The housekeeper, seeing it was her, hurriedly opened the door.

Once inside, only Yang Shulan was in the living room; Chi Yue walked straight upstairs without glancing her way and knocked on the study door.

"Come in."

Chi Yue entered and Chi Jianshan frowned upon seeing her, "Why did you come back today?"

"The hospital called, demanding payment."

Chi Jianshan's frown deepened, "Didn't you just pay last month?"

"You said it yourself, that was last month."

Chi Jianshan, displeased with Chi Yue's attitude but still facing his own daughter, opened his drawer, "How much do you need?"

"One million."

"One million? Didn't you just ask for a hundred thousand last month?"

Chi Yue, "Instead of coming back every month to ask for money, why not just give enough all at once?"

The doctor had said, her mother had less than half a year left; one million would be sufficient.

But Chi Jianshan wasn't pleased, "I'll give you five hundred thousand, come back if you need more."

Chi Yue sneered with a crooked lip, "She's your daughter too, you can give her five million for living expenses, but you can't give me one million to treat Mom?"

After Chi Qingqing returned home, she quickly infiltrated her old circle, winning over her friends.

When Chi Qingqing had a big birthday party last time, her friends posted about it on social media; that's how Chi Yue discovered how generous Chi Jianshan was with Chi Qingqing.

Chi Jianshan's expression darkened, "Chi Yue, you haven't suffered these years, Chi Qingqing has suffered a lot outside, don't compare yourself with her."

"Her suffering is because of you, not because of me."

"You..." Chi Jianshan took a deep breath and took out his phone, "Transfer five hundred thousand to Chi Yue."

After hanging up, he lowered his head to work on his documents and ignored Chi Yue further.

Sometime later, Chi Yue received a notification of the deposit; sure enough, it was only five hundred thousand.

She turned and walked away, taking a few steps before suddenly saying, "If you care so little about Mom, why don't you divorce her?"
