Chapter 11 - Trials Of Loyalty And Strength

"But what if an attack does happen? It's also the Luna's duty to protect her pack and fight alongside the Alpha. How would it look if the Luna is hiding or running away?" Uncle interjected with a smug expression. I clenched my jaw as I tried to think of a good answer.

Alpha Luciano interrupted with a snarl, his jaw clenched with anger. He locked eyes with Russ, his uncle, and gave him a death glare.

"Who would dare to attack my pack? Are you planning to do so, uncle Russ?" He

challenged him.

I felt a surge of fear and confusion. What was going on here? Russ glared back at him, his face twisted with rage.

"Why do you always accuse me, Alpha?" He spat.

"Why do you always have attacks on your mind?" He taunted him.

"Enough! Let's move on to the next question!" One of the elders said sternly, breaking the tension.

Alpha Luciano's gaze shifted to me again, making me nervous.

"So, what are your special qualities that make you unique?" One of the elders asked me.

Special qualities? I didn't have any. I hesitated and took a deep breath. Alpha Luciano was watching me intently, his chin resting on his hand.

"Well, I don't have any specific special quality or power, but l don't think that's necessary to protect the pack or to be a good Luna. What matters more is hard work, determination and loyalty to the pack. And I have those qualities. I will do my best to protect my pack and my mate.

They are like my family and I would give my life for them if needed." I said firmly, lifting my chin with confidence.

The elders looked at each other and nodded approvingly. It seemed they were impressed by my answer.

"I agree with you, Luna. And I admire your loyalty to the pack." One of the elders said.

"But we still have to test you, to see if you can prove yourself." Another elder said.

"Okay, elders. I'm ready for the test." I said and nodded.

"So we are ending this meeting here only." Alpha Luciano announced.

He got up from his chair and wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me close to him. He planted a kiss on my cheek, making me blush.

"You were amazing, my love," he praised me.

The elders smiled warmly at us and wished us well. Alpha led me out of the room, holding me tightly. announced.

"Can you tell me what kind of tests they are talking about and when they will start?" I asked him.

He put his finger on my lips and shushed me.

"Can you be quiet for a moment?" he said.

I felt a jolt of electricity run through me as he looked at me intensely, his face inches from mine.

He whispered in his husky voice,

"You were amazing." His compliment caught me off guard and made my heart skip a beat. I felt butterflies in my stomach as our lips almost touched.

He slowly slid his finger down and pulled away. I didn't understand why, but both me and my wolf hated it when he did that.

He said, "I'll tell you later about the tests and rules. I have an important meeting to attend." He left without another word, leaving me standing there in shock.

Today he had kissed me on the neck and on the cheeks. I didn't know how we would pretend if he kept doing this.

I heard someone call my name from a distance, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Alina! We haven't talked since morning." Millie ran towards me.

"I thought you forgot your friend.

How could you do that? You were supposed to support me, but it seems like you are in your own world." I scolded her.

She said apologetically, "I'm sorry, sweetie! Actually, Mikasa..." She trailed off and I narrowed my eyes at her.

I said with a deadpan expression,

"Oh, so you have found a new friend."

She shook her head and said,

"No, no, it's not like that. He is annoying and he keeps teasing me."

She changed the subject and said eagerly, "But enough about me. What about you two?"

"About what?" I pretended to be clueless and asked,

She rolled her eyes and said,

"Oh, come on. How is Alpha Luciano? Is he good to you?"

I crossed my arms over my chest and said, "No, I can't stand him.He is so arrogant and he thinks he is better than everyone else."

She frowned and said, "That's awful. He should treat you with respect. But don't worry, this is just a contract marriage. You will find someone who truly loves you after this is over."

She patted my shoulder reassuringly and I felt a pang of guilt.

I whispered, "Hey, keep it down.

What if someone hears us?" She nodded and said, "You're right. We have to act like everything is normal."

She apologized and said, "I'm really sorry!"

I smiled and said, "No need to apologize. Just be careful next time."

She sighed and said, "So what are we going to do for the rest of the day? I'm getting bored here." She pouted and said, "I'm so bored here. I can't believe we've been here for less than a day and I already want to leave."

I nodded

"Me too. How about we go to the garden? Maybe it will cheer us up." I said.

She agreed and we headed outside.

I was stunned by the sight of the garden. It was a huge expanse of greenery and color, covering more than two acres of land. The garden had a variety of plants,

from bright roses and fragrant lavender to majestic oak trees.

Stone paths wound through the garden, leading to fountains and ponds that sparkled in the sun.

There were benches where we could sit and relax, and gardeners who tended to the flowers and plants.

Everything was perfect and orderly in this mansion. Millie gasped and said, "Wow, this is amazing, Alina!"

I closed her mouth and said,

"Shh, don't draw attention to yourself."

She giggled and we walked around the garden.

We saw many omegas who were busy with their chores and cleaning duties.

We found a bench and sat down. Millie broke the silence and asked, "Has your father found out about you?"

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I said, "Yes."

She asked, "What did he say?"

I said, "He didn't say anything to hurt me. But I think he has something in mind. He hates Alpha Luciano more than I ever imagined. But he didn't show it.

He acted happy." She looked at me with shock and asked, "What? How can he be happy? Is he really happy or is he hiding something?"

I lied to her and said, "No, I don't know what he's thinking."

I didn't want to talk about him anymore and I didn't want to make her worry about me.

I changed the topic and asked her, "Have you heard from your father?"

She shook her head and said,

"No, you know he doesn't care about me. He would never miss me even if I died. He always said that I was his stepdaughter and he never loved me like his own."

She said that with tears in her eyes. I felt a pang in my heart as I saw her cry. She was a brave girl, but she also longed for a father's love, just like me.

I wiped her tears and said, "Stop crying. You're better off without him." She sniffed and said, "No, I'm not crying. Why would I cry for that jerk?" She tried to smile and act tough.

"Sure, sure. You're a fighter." I chuckled

I saw Alpha Luciano talking to some omegas and giving them some money. The omegas bowed their heads and thanked him gratefully. He looked arrogant, but he had a kind heart.

Millie said, "He's not that bad after all." She was also watching him.

"And neither is Mikasa." She said that with a blush on her face. I looked at her in confusion.

I think she had gone mad. I thought to myself. After a few minutes silence I said. "Millie, we can't just sit around and wait for something to happen," I said, feeling restless.

"What else can we do?" Millie asked, looking at me with a puzzled expression.

"We have to keep working on our jobs. We can't let them go to waste," I said, remembering the reason why we came here in the first place. It was just a contract and I couldn't stop living my life from living. I too had my works and life.

"Right, right. I almost forgot about that. So, are you going to talk to Alpha about it?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Yes, I'll talk to him later. He's probably busy right now," I said, avoiding her gaze. I didn't want to admit that I was nervous about facing him again.

I felt a sudden surge of fatigue and decided to go to my room. I needed some time alone to sort out my thoughts. I slept for hours and woke up feeling refreshed. In the evening, Millie and I had a cozy chat on the sofa, sharing stories and secrets. After having dinner i went to my room but there was something else going on.
