Previously in our date Sunday,we went for shopping, then hit the theatre and saw a beautiful movie, with someone even beautiful than the movie ,mei. My heart became clearer and clearer that I had fallen for Mei . We had some ice-cream by the end of the date that is when Mei and I felt a sudden surge of aura coming from somewhere .We weren't able to find the source at first but then ,I think Mei saw it and from the top of an electric pole she elegantly jumped off and flew towards the source and went running after….
Mei dived toward the source of the overwhelming energy, and I chased after her, my heart pounding with anxiety.
She finally stopped and when I neared her I asked "mei, did you find something". She replied "hmmm, yes, look " she seemed terrified..
And when I turned around I was met with a sight that made my blood run cold. A massive kaiju, its presence suffocating, loomed ahead, but what really caught my attention were the three figures standing behind it. They appeared human, but their auras told a different story—a sinister energy radiated from them, strong enough that even I, who normally couldn't sense such things, felt it prickling my skin.
There were three girls standing right next to the kaiju . They were radiating a totally different but suffocating amount of aura . One of the girls had a catalyst as it's weapon floating in the air ,while another girl had a flying sword levitating near her and the third girl had a big hammer rested on her shoulders .
The catalyst wielding girl said "oh boi, look at that, they are the ones who put on the barrier"
The sword wielding girl said "these kind of people are such a pain in the ass"
The hammer wielding girl said "well, well. This barrier of their is a spirit art,and they definitely aren't a spirit . That's impressive"
The catalyst wielding girl replied "well true I guess"
She replied "well why don't we try our new servent on them"
The sword wielding girl said "alright, our servent ,go and finish them"
The kaiju roared at their command.
Mei replied "what are you after".
All three ecoed in unison "WORLD DOMINATION"
The kaiju locked its eyes on me. Before I could react, it lunged with terrifying speed.
"Izumi!"Mei shouted
My instincts kicked in, but I wasn't fast enough—its massive claw was about to crush me when Mei intervened. With a powerful burst of energy, she grabbed me and retreated, leaping a hundred meters back in one fluid motion.
We landed safely, though my heart was still racing. Mei kept her eyes on the kaiju, but I could tell something was off. She wasn't her usual confident self—there was tension in her posture, and I quickly realized why.
"What the hell is going on, Mei?" I asked, struggling to catch my breath. "Who are those girls? And why do they feel so… dangerous?"
Mei's gaze remained fixed on the kaiju and the three figures behind it. "Those aren't ordinary creatures, Izumi. They're quasi-spirits—beings whose power rivals that of catastrophic-tier threats. They shouldn't be here. There's no reason for them to be on Earth."
My heart sank at her words. Quasi-spirits were supposed to be devastating to catastrophic-tier dangers—monsters that could annihilate entire cities if left unchecked. But these looked like mere girls. How could something so small be so powerful?
The kaiju roared, its massive form barreling toward us once again, but Mei was faster. She grabbed my arm and leaped out of the way, landing us another hundred meters back.
"Why are they here?" I asked, more to myself than to Mei, but she shook her head.
"I don't know," she admitted, her voice laced with frustration. "But we don't have time to figure it out now. We need to separate them. If they fight together, we don't stand a chance."
The quasi-spirits slowly advanced, their cold eyes locked on us, but their attention seemed divided between us and the kaiju. Mei's eyes flicked to the tunnel entrance in the distance, and I understood her plan before she even said it.
"We need to split them up," she continued, urgency in her voice. "I'll lure the quasi-spirits into that tunnel. I can't use my full powers in direct sunlight because of the curse, but once we're in the dark, I can fight them at full strength."
"And what about the kaiju?" I asked, already dreading her answer.
"You'll have to keep it busy," she said, her tone apologetic but firm. "I know it's intense-tier, but if we can take down even one of them, it'll make our odds a lot better. Your job isn't to defeat it—just stall it long enough for me to deal with the quasi-spirits."
A knot of fear twisted in my gut, but I nodded. I didn't have a choice. If Mei was going to stand any chance against those quasi-spirits, I had to trust her plan and do my part.
Mei patted on my head as a sign of encouragement.
The quasi-spirits stopped their advance, their eyes narrowing as they watched us. The youngest one, who couldn't have been older than ten, lifted a hand, and the floating catalyst beside her began to glow with a menacing light. The other two remained silent, their weapons hovering ominously beside them—a sword beside the teenager and a spiked hammer in the hands of the young woman.
Mei's eyes darkened as she took in the sight. "They're back," she muttered. "This isn't good."
"We don't have time to wait," I said, gripping my fists tightly. "We need to act now."
With a determined nod, Mei sprinted toward the tunnel, drawing the attention of the quasi-spirits. The kaiju roared in frustration, its massive form lunging after her, but I wasn't about to let it get away.
"Hey!" I shouted, charging forward to intercept it. "You're not going anywhere!"
The kaiju turned its gaze back to me, its eyes glowing with a fierce, unnatural light. I could feel its raw power radiating off it in waves, and it took everything I had not to buckle under the pressure. But I couldn't let fear control me. I had a job to do, and I needed to give Mei as much time as possible.
With a roar of my own, I lunged at the kaiju, hoping to distract it long enough for Mei to make her move. It responded with a swipe of its massive claw, narrowly missing me as I ducked and rolled out of the way. I could feel the ground tremble beneath me with each of its steps, but I kept moving, knowing that every second I kept it occupied was a second Mei could use to gain an advantage.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mei leading the quasi-spirits toward the tunnel, her movements quick and calculated. The sunlight limited her, but she was doing everything she could to draw them away from me and the kaiju. I just had to hold out a little longer.
The kaiju, however, wasn't going to make it easy. It lunged at me again, this time faster and with more force. I barely managed to dodge, and the sheer power of its strike sent shockwaves through the ground, nearly knocking me off my feet. But I couldn't afford to falter. I had to keep it focused on me, no matter how much it took.
Finally, with a last desperate effort, the kaiju unleashed a powerful attack, its claws glowing with an intense energy. I braced myself, knowing I couldn't dodge in time. But just before the attack could reach me, I saw Mei disappear into the tunnel with the quasi-spirits following close behind.
The kaiju's attack missed by a hair's breadth, and I took the opportunity to distance myself from it, drawing it away from the tunnel's entrance. My heart pounded in my chest, but I knew this was only the beginning.
The kaiju locked eyes with me, its gaze filled with an almost primal rage. I could feel the immense power radiating off it, a constant reminder of just how outmatched I was. But I wasn't alone—I had Mei, and she was counting on me.
"Alright, big guy," I muttered under my breath, clenching my fists. "Let's see what you've got."
And with that, the battle truly began.
**Mei's Side**
Mei's heart raced as she pushed herself to the limit, each leap taking her closer to the safety of the tunnel. "Why are quasi-spirits here on Earth?" she kept asking herself, the thought nagging at the back of her mind. She wasn't just facing any opponents—these were catastrophic-tier threats. And she was doing it under the sun, unable to use her full power because of the cursed sunlight that stripped her of her strength.
"Come on, Mei... just a little further..." she muttered under her breath, her legs burning from the effort. She glanced back to see the hammer-wielding quasi-spirit still on her tail, her speed astonishing for someone carrying such a massive weapon. Mei had to admit, the girl's persistence was impressive.
"You won't get away," the hammer-wielder called out, her voice carrying an eerie calmness. "It's futile to run, you know. We are bound by destiny to end you here."
"Destiny? Funny, I don't recall signing up for this," Mei shot back, gritting her teeth as she dodged a powerful swing from the hammer that cratered the ground behind her. Mei was quick, but the girl's strikes were precise, each one getting closer and closer.
The other two quasi-spirits were keeping their distance, floating above like grim specters. The one with the flying catalyst twirled her weapon, dark energy crackling around it. She seemed younger, almost childlike, yet her expression was that of someone far beyond her years.
"Are we really going to play with her like this, Arta?" the catalyst-wielder asked, her voice a high-pitched whine. "It's boring. Let's just finish it already."
"Patience, Qupa," Arta, the hammer-wielder, replied. "She'll tire soon enough. And then, we strike."
Mei's mind raced as she heard them conversing. "Qupa, huh? So that's her name..." She tried to piece together a strategy, her thoughts interrupted by another attack. A flying sword slashed through the air, missing her by mere inches. The teenager holding the sword—Kuki, if she had to guess—watched with cold, calculating eyes, her face devoid of emotion.
Mei veered sharply to the left, evading another strike. "Almost there... just a few more meters..." she muttered, but she knew it wouldn't be that easy. Arta was still hot on her heels, and the other two were getting more aggressive with their attacks. Mei could feel the energy surging behind her as Qupa began chanting again.
"Spirit Art: All is Ash," Qupa intoned, her voice chillingly serene. The beam of blood-red and black energy that shot out of her catalyst was enormous, its sheer force shaking the ground as it tore through the air. Mei's heart leapt into her throat. "No time to think, just move!. Demonic arts level 30: Zap" the moment she chanted it ,she instantly zapped to the corner dodging the deathly beam.
She leaped to the side, feeling the heat of the beam as it scorched the earth where she had just been standing. "Damn it, that was close..." she gasped, barely keeping her footing as she landed on a nearby rooftop.
"You're quite agile, aren't you?" Arta's voice was almost admiring. "But how long can you keep this up, I wonder?"
Mei didn't respond, too focused on reaching the tunnel. Her only hope was to get inside and use the darkness to her advantage. The curse wouldn't be as strong in the shadows, and she could finally turn the tables. But first, she had to survive the next few minutes.
**Izumi's Side**
I could hear the kaiju's heavy footsteps behind me, each one shaking the ground like an earthquake. My heart was pounding in my chest, every instinct screaming at me to keep moving. "I can't stop... one wrong move and I'm dead," I kept telling myself. The kaiju was relentless, its monstrous presence filling the air with a palpable sense of dread. It had intelligence, cunning even—something I hadn't expected.
"Why the hell are you after me?" I shouted over my shoulder, not expecting an answer. But to my shock, the kaiju actually responded.
"You... are in my way, human," it snarled, its voice dripping with contempt. "I will crush you like an insect !"
Great, I thought to myself, I just pissed it off even more. I ducked and rolled to the side as the kaiju's massive fist came crashing down where I'd been standing just moments before. The impact left a deep crater in the ground, the force of the blow sending debris flying in all directions.
I scrambled to my feet and kept running, my breath coming in ragged gasps. This thing wasn't just strong—it was fast, too. I could feel it gaining on me, its enormous presence looming closer with each passing second. I had to think of something, and fast.
Before I could react, the kaiju darted toward me, its speed far beyond what I could keep up with. The moment its flaming fist connected with my body, I felt the impact like a freight train, sending me flying across the street. My body crashed through a house, tearing through walls and shattering everything in its path. Pain shot through me, but there was no time to register it—survival was all that mattered.
The kaiju was on me in a second, closing the distance with terrifying speed. I barely managed to roll out of the way as its flaming fist smashed into the ground where I had been. The house behind me was split in two, the intense heat scorching the air. *"Thank goodness no one's inside,"* I thought briefly, my mind already racing for the next move.
*"I have to keep moving… if I stop for even a second…"* I didn't finish the thought, pushing myself to my feet and sprinting away as fast as I could. But the kaiju wasn't going to let me escape. It chased after me, its speed unmatched by anything I'd ever faced. I felt like prey in the eyes of a predator—every step I took was matched by its monstrous pace.
As I ran, the kaiju suddenly appeared in my path, its massive form blocking out the sky. There was no time to think—only instinct. I raised my arm to block the incoming attack, not even considering using any demonic arts, but the moment its fist collided with mine, sparks erupted from the impact. Lightning surged from my body, level 4 and level 3 forms activating simultaneously without me even willing it.
*"Lightning?"* I thought in surprise as the energy crackled around me. The force of the blow still sent me sliding back, my feet digging into the ground to keep from being thrown again. But something had changed. The lightning wasn't just a defense—it was a counter.
The kaiju roared in frustration, and I took the opportunity to parry its next attack, using the lightning to deflect its blows. Every time our fists collided, more sparks flew, and I could feel the power growing, becoming easier to control with each strike. *"I can do this,"* I told myself, even as exhaustion began to set in. *"I just need to hold out… just a little longer…"*
But the kaiju was relentless, its attacks unceasing. My body ached from the constant impact, my energy draining faster than I could recover it. I knew I couldn't keep this up forever, but I couldn't afford to lose either. Mei was counting on me.
In a desperate move, I remembered something from a manga I'd read—a protagonist who used lightning powers to boost his speed. *"If he could do it, maybe I can too,"* I thought, focusing all my remaining energy into my legs. The lightning flared around me, and with a burst of speed, I dashed away from the kaiju, leaving it momentarily stunned.
The world around me blurred as I sped away from the kaiju, the city turning into a whirlwind of colors and shapes. I didn't look back, didn't dare slow down. I had to get away, had to find some place where I could regroup and come up with a plan.
But just when I thought I was in the clear—*slam!*—I was knocked out of the sky. The kaiju had anticipated my move, diving from above and crashing down on top of me with terrifying speed and power. I felt the air leave my lungs as I was slammed into the ground, the force of the impact sending shockwaves through my
body.
My vision blurred, my thoughts scattered. The last thing I saw before everything went dark was the kaiju's blazing eyes, filled with malice.
Why is going to happen next , will be win this fight ,will i survive?
