Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 First day

"Your desk is over there," Marcus said, pointing to a sleek workstation with a stunning view of the city skyline. "But first, you need to meet the CEO, Sebastian Carter. He likes to greet new hires personally. After that, one of the other secretaries will show you the ropes and outline your responsibilities."

Lilith nodded, excitement bubbling within her.

"Good," he said, straightening up. "Follow me; I'll take you to his office."

As they walked through the office, Lilith noted the various team members busy at their tasks, their focused expressions hinting at the fast-paced environment she had entered. Marcus led her to a pair of large glass doors at the end of the hall. The name "Sebastian Carter" was etched on the frosted glass, giving it an air of authority.

Marcus knocked gently and gestured for her to enter.

"Come in," she heard a deep, low voice that was both dangerous and alluring.

Taking a breath, Lilith pushed open the frosted door. As she stepped inside.

The office was spacious, elegantly furnished, and filled with natural light streaming in from the floor-to-ceiling windows, which provided a panoramic view of the bustling city below.

There were sofa sets near the windows, elegantly arranged around a sleek coffee table, offering a cozy space for meetings or casual conversations. To the right, a door hinted at a private office bedroom, adding an air of mystery to the office layout.

Lilith's attention was drawn to a man seated at one of the desks, rapidly typing on a MacBook without lifting his gaze. He wore thick-framed glasses that accentuated his sharp features. His messy, dark hair added to his allure, and his tanned skin contrasted with the tailored black suit that hugged his muscular frame perfectly. The way he focused on his work made it hard to read his emotions.

Without looking up, he commanded, "Prepare coffee for me, no sugar."

Lilith raised her brows at the abrupt order. It was clear he expected compliance, but she felt a spark of defiance. However, she quickly reminded herself that denying her boss's request wasn't an option. Excitement thrummed in her veins as she quickly walked out of the office to find the coffee machine.

"Excuse me," she said to a nearby girl working at her desk. "Could you tell me where the coffee machine is?"

The girl looked up, a bit startled, but quickly smiled and pointed towards a small kitchenette area at the far end of the office. "It's over there. Just press the button for the type of coffee you want."

"Thanks!" Lilith replied. She made her way to the kitchenette.

Lilith chuckled to herself, thinking about how the man at the desk seemed like a human doll, so polished and serious, enjoying his coffee without any sugar.

With confidence gained from her experiences in the installer world, she crafted the coffee to perfection, ensuring it was just right. The rich aroma filled the air as she made her way back to the office, her heart racing with anticipation.

When she reached the door, she hesitated briefly, recalling Marcus's words about making a good impression. Gathering her nerves, she knocked lightly.

"Come in," she heard him say, his voice smooth yet husky.

Lilith pushed open the door and stepped inside, holding the cup with both hands. "Sir, your coffee," she announced, placing it gently on his desk.

Finally, he lifted his gaze, and their eyes met. His deep, intense eyes behind the glasses seemed to pierce through her, making her heart race. However, he didn't say anything; his hand reached for the coffee, and Lilith's hand lingered there for a moment, their hands brushing against each other.

He took a sip of the coffee, his expression still unreadable.

After a brief silence, he finally spoke, his attention still partially on his MacBook. "Prepare my new schedule within the day. My old schedule is overlapping. You need to fix those issues too," he instructed, his voice firm and direct.

She nodded, eager to prove herself. "Of course, I'll get started on that right away."

"Good," he replied without looking up. "You can leave."

She walked outside and took a seat at her desk, the sleek surface feeling cool beneath her fingers. The office buzzed with activity, but her focus was on the task at hand. A woman with a tight bun approached her, her tired eyes heavy with dark circles.

"Those are some important documents," she said, her voice low and slightly raspy. "You need to fix that," she added, pointing at the old schedule of the CEO. "He can't afford any more overlaps." Without waiting for a response, the woman turned and returned to her own desk, leaving Lilith to navigate the paperwork on her own.

Lilith watched her go, noting the subtle slump of her shoulders. The woman looked thoroughly exhausted.

She shifted her focus back to the documents in front of her.

She turned on her computer and immediately began sorting through the documents. Her eyes scanned the papers rapidly, and the woman sitting next to her shot her a look of contempt. It was clear she disapproved of Lilith's speed and efficiency.

However, Lilith paid no mind to the judgment of those around her. She was focused, flipping through the papers with ease, and her fingers danced over the keyboard as she typed swiftly. Utilizing the already installed planner software, she crafted a one-week schedule that was both organized and clear.

Important meetings were highlighted in bold, while free time slots were left blank, making it easy to understand at a glance.

After finishing, she leaned back in her chair, satisfied with her work.

However, as she finished organizing the schedule, her intercom phone rang, interrupting her thoughts. She picked it up, and immediately, a low, dangerous voice came through.

"In my office asap."

She took a moment to collect herself, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear before rising from her desk.

As she approached the frosted glass doors, Lilith gave a soft knock. "Come in," he called in his deep, husky voice, and she stepped inside.

Sebastian was seated at his desk, the screens illuminating his focused expression as he typed away. He didn't look up immediately, leaving Lilith standing there, unsure of her next move.

"Close the door," he instructed, finally glancing up at her, his deep eyes assessing her.
