The night wind howled as Trevor and his father continued to run through the narrow streets of Uchiha Village. Trevor's cold sweat dripped down his forehead as his Sharingan remained active, making everything around him appear sharper and more defined. However, despite his keen eyesight, his body felt weak. This body, still young and unaccustomed to the Uchiha clan's powers he now possessed.
"What mission... What do I need to do?" Trevor whispered softly. The system had informed him that the danger was far from over.
[ Additional Mission: Survive for 10 minutes against an Akatsuki member. ]
[ Reward: +5 Strength Points, +2 Intelligence Points.]
[ Warning: Failure will reduce status by 10%.]
"It's impossible to survive for 10 minutes against Akatsuki! Even the strongest ninja would hesitate before taking on an Akatsuki member, especially if it's Itachi Uchiha."
"Kazuki, you must get away from here," his father's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. The man was visibly exhausted, having run without pause. "I'll distract him, you must go.."
But before Trevor could respond, the sound of footsteps grew louder behind them. Itachi. The figure in black robes with a red aura stood a few meters away, his gaze as cold and unreadable as ever.
Trevor shuddered. With Sharingan Lv. 1, he could see Itachi's movements, but it didn't mean he could avoid or counter Itachi's deadly attacks. Itachi simply stared at them, as if waiting for something.
"Itachi Uchiha..." Trevor whispered, his voice barely audible.
Suddenly, his father shouted, "Run now, Kazuki!" He raised his sword and charged forward without hesitation.
"No!" Trevor wanted to stop his father, but it was too late. In an instant, Itachi disappeared from where he stood and reappeared behind Trevor's father. A swift attack sent the man crashing to the ground with a loud thud. His father's sword flew out of his hand and clattered to the cold earth.
Time seemed to freeze. Trevor stood stock-still, his body trembling as he watched the scene unfold. His father lay motionless, unable to rise.
[Time remaining: 5 minutes.]
Trevor gazed at the screen in front of him with desperation. Five minutes left before he had to survive against Itachi again, but how? He knew that even without Sharingan Lv. 1, he couldn't defeat Itachi.
Suddenly, an idea struck him. "If I can't fight back, I'll distract him." Trevor scanned his surroundings quickly, searching for something to help him. Then he spotted it - a discarded kunai explosive lying near the entrance of a destroyed house. It might be enough to slow Itachi down or give him more time to escape.
Without hesitation, Trevor sprinted towards the kunai and grabbed it. But before he could move further, Itachi reappeared before him, his gaze cold and unyielding.
"Damn! I'm too slow..." he thought.
But he couldn't give up now.
"Well then, system," he whispered inwardly.
"Use all my points!" he exclaimed without thinking twice.
For a moment, his body felt lighter and faster. Without waiting longer, he hurled the kunai explosive at Itachi and leapt to the side to find shelter behind the nearest wall.
The massive explosion boomed, destroying part of the surrounding buildings and creating a thick cloud of smoke. Trevor knew that the explosion wouldn't harm Itachi but would at least give him some valuable seconds to escape.
"This is my chance," he thought aloud.
Trevor started running with all his might, his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to get as far away from Itachi as possible.
The next few seconds felt like hours as Trevor ran through the narrow streets of Village, dodging rubble and battling ninja in the vicinity. Behind him, he could feel Itachi's chakra drawing closer and closer. Trevor knew that Itachi could catch up with ease but seemed to be playing slowly, giving Trevor an illusion that he had a chance.
The system suddenly spoke again.
[ New task available: Survive for 1 minute more. ]
[ Reward: Basic fire technique.]
"They're really testing me..." Trevor whispered softly as he continued to run with ragged breaths.
Before him, the road ended at a cliff overlooking a dense forest below. There was no place else to run. This was the end of the road.
