Avalor groaned, his head throbbing. Slowly, he opened his eyes, the dim light of the den filtering through his eyelids. He tried to sit up but a sharp pain shot through his head, forcing him to lie back down. He looked around, his vision blurry.
He saw Melissa, bound and gagged, struggling against her restraints. A wave of anger washed over him. Who could have done this? Who would dare harm his Luna?
Then he saw George. His stepbrother stood over Melissa, a twisted grin on his face. A chill ran down Avalor's spine. He couldn't believe his eyes. George, the boy he had raised, the boy he had considered family, had betrayed them all.
"Why did you tie her up?" He roared at him, his vein popping out on his head.
"Are you so stupid enough to not think of her condition?" He asked, shifting and struggling with the tight ropes used on him.
