Chapter 16 ~ class representative

The day after the intense test was filled with buzzing excitement in Class 1-A. The room was alive with chatter, as students gathered in small groups, recounting the events of the previous day's battles. Each clash, every quirk, and strategy was discussed with fervor, as they marveled at each other's performances.

Natsu lounged lazily in his seat, his feet propped up on his desk. He wore a wide grin, clearly enjoying the praise and chatter around him, though he barely engaged. As Sero approached, Natsu gave a thumbs up.

"Man, Natsu, that fight was insane!" Sero exclaimed, plopping down in the seat beside him. "I thought Todoroki had you for a minute there!"

Natsu stretched, letting out a long yawn before responding. "Eh, it was fun. That's what matters, right? All that strategy stuff? Too boring for me."

Kaminari leaned over from his desk. "You're seriously something else, man. How are you this chill after everything? That building was shaking!"

Natsu shrugged, completely unbothered. "The more the place shakes, the better. That means the fight's good."

Just then, the classroom door slid open, and Aizawa-sensei walked in, his usual tired expression on his face. The room went silent as he stepped toward the front, his presence enough to quiet the students.

"Alright, settle down," Aizawa said in his usual monotonous tone. "Today, we need to decide on a class representative."

The room instantly erupted in murmurs again. A class representative? Some students looked excited, others indifferent. Natsu, however, immediately groaned.

He slumped over his desk, burying his head in his arms. "Ugh, boring... why do we need something like this?" he muttered loudly enough for the others to hear. "Count me out. This is such a drag."

A few students laughed at his blatant disinterest, while others, like Iida, sat up straight, clearly already prepared to take this responsibility seriously.

Bakugo clicked his tongue, crossing his arms. "Who cares? It's just a stupid title anyway."

Mina, on the other hand, bounced in her seat. "This could be fun! I mean, who doesn't want to be the class rep? It's a position of power!"

As the chatter continued, Aizawa's patience quickly wore thin. "Enough," he said, his eyes narrowing. "We'll do a vote. Each of you will write down the name of the student you think is best suited for the role. No more talking."

Natsu let out another exaggerated yawn, resting his head on his arm as he lazily scribbled something on his paper. "This is a waste of time..."

The students, one by one, wrote their choices and handed the slips forward. There was an air of curiosity as the results were tallied, some wondering who would get the most votes.

Aizawa took the papers, glanced at them briefly, and then said, "With five votes, Natsu Dragneel is your class representative."

The room went dead silent for a moment. Everyone turned to look at Natsu, who was still half-asleep on his desk, completely unaware of what had just happened. Kaminari was the first to burst out laughing.

"Natsu!? He doesn't even care!"

Mina gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. "No way! Natsu got the most votes?"

Natsu blinked awake, staring at Aizawa with a confused expression. "Wait... what? What do you mean?"

Aizawa sighed. "You're the class representative, Natsu. Congratulations. Now, for the deputy representative—"

Before he could finish, Natsu waved his hand dismissively. "Yeah, no thanks. Not interested. That's way too much work for me."

The entire class stared at him in disbelief. Kirishima raised an eyebrow. "Dude, you're the class rep! You can't just say no!"

Natsu stretched again and stood up, yawning. "I can, and I am. It's too boring, and I'm not gonna do stuff that isn't fun."

Aizawa's eyes narrowed in clear annoyance. "Natsu, this isn't optional. You've been chosen by your classmates. It's your responsibility."

Natsu, unfazed, glanced around the room lazily. His eyes eventually landed on Iida, who was sitting upright, hands clasped, looking slightly disappointed but as dignified as ever.

"Hey, glasses guy," Natsu called out, drawing everyone's attention to Iida. "You want this job, right? You're all about rules and order. I give you all my votes. You're the class rep now."

Iida's eyes widened in shock. "Me? But—"

Natsu, without waiting for further protests, turned and headed back to his seat. "There you go. Problem solved."

The entire class erupted in murmurs again. Mina Ashido glanced at Iida with a kind smile. "You'd be a great class rep, Iida. You're organized and responsible."

Iida stood up from his seat, clearing his throat as he adjusted his glasses. "Natsu, while I appreciate your confidence in me, I don't think it's fair to take the position you earned—"

"I didn't earn anything," Natsu interrupted, already reclining back in his chair. "You do it. I'm just here for the fun stuff."

Aizawa pinched the bridge of his nose. "This is exactly why I wanted a vote," he muttered. "Alright, fine. The class will vote between Momo Yaoyorozu and Midoriya for deputy representative. Iida, if the class elects you next time, you can take over for Natsu. For now, Natsu remains the class rep."

Midoriya, seated quietly throughout the entire exchange, looked flustered. "I-I wasn't expecting to get votes...!"

Yaoyorozu, ever composed, smiled politely. "Well, Midoriya, it seems we're both up for consideration."

As the class discussed amongst themselves, Bakugo's voice rang out from the back. "Tch, this is ridiculous. None of you idiots are fit for leadership. Especially not that sleeping moron."

Natsu waved a hand lazily. "Whatever, boom boy. You're just mad because you didn't get any votes."

That lit a spark in Bakugo's eyes, his fists crackling with tiny explosions. "What was that?!"

Before things could escalate, Aizawa quickly stepped in. "Enough. We'll settle this with a quick vote. Choose between Yaoyorozu and Midoriya for deputy class representative."

The ballots were cast once again, and after a few moments, Aizawa tallied the results. "Yaoyorozu is your deputy class representative."

Momo nodded gracefully, though there was a clear glimmer of pride in her eyes. "Thank you, everyone. I'll do my best."

Midoriya smiled sheepishly. "Congrats, Yaoyorozu. I know you'll be great."

With the vote settled, Aizawa looked over the class once more. "Alright. That's enough for today. Remember, this role carries responsibility. Be ready."

As the students began to chatter once more, some laughing and others discussing the new leadership, Natsu remained at his desk, utterly uninterested in the role he had just been given.

"Responsibility?" Natsu mumbled to himself, stretching his arms. "I don't need that... as long as there's more fun stuff coming up, I'm good."

And so, the day ended with Natsu unknowingly at the helm of Class 1-A, the future looking both exciting and uncertain.
