With his heart racing, Luca spun to see the monstrous creature that had been at his back. Its form almost seemed to take on a grotesque amalgamation of limbs and eyes, each watching him intently. Psyros' voice then turned urgent in his mind: "Alright, kid, keep cool. Pull out your sword and enchant it with my power."
Luca grunted, pumping all his energy into his sword. The ordinary blade expanded in size and adopted a mild blue hue. Firmly clamping onto his now-improved weapon, Luca defended himself, expecting the beast to attack. Instead of an attack, though, the creature spat a thick strand of silk onto him, pinning him against the wall.
"Not good," Luca growled, fighting the web with tangles. Extreme effort eventually allowed him to finally cut through the silk with his sword and ran for cover behind a nearby boulder. His mind flashed on a hopeless dash for the teleportation circle. Drool fell on his shoulder, and he looked up to find the monster peering over his head.
It sprang, pinning him to the ground. The huge fangs were inches from his face as his breathing came in ragged gasps, staring into the eyes of death. Then everything went black.
When he awoke, he saw Psyros in full form standing over the defeated monster. "How.how is this possible?" Luca's voice shook.
Psyros looked equally perplexed. "I-I don't know. It was instinct. I somehow emerged from your body."
Luca's eyes had widened. "Does that mean we're not bound?" Before Psyros could answer him, he was sucked back into Luca's body. The rush of power which came with it was too much for Luca to handle, and he collapsed in agony, crawling to the teleportation circle, sobbing for help as everything went black again.
