Chapter 42 - Fear Creeping In

Alvin the Trickster, the pressure on him increased exponentially as Madacan the monster kept thrusting his fourteen swords uncontrollably.

When Alvin the Trickster found an opportunity, he started running very fast, trying extra hard to land his first shot. The faster he ran, circling Madacan, the monster, the harder it became for the monster to keep up with Alvin the Trickster.

Upon noticing that he had achieved his intended goal, Alvin the Trickster leaped up forward, his hand stretched forward and pushed his golden sword into the heart of Madacan the monster.

When he landed on the ground, the monster was disintegrating into pieces as its face held a surprised face.

'I told you that I was going to be the new lord of this land.' Alvin the Trickster stated his glorious victory.

In the Gascan Universe inside the theater, Nathaniel was celebrating his win.

'I told you Morris, I just made myself three million five hundred thousand US dollars, let's go celebrate, drinks are on me!' Nathaniel announced happily, his excitement could not be faked.

Then a voice from Lexon the AI reverberated, 'Would you like to play again?'

No, thanks. Delvin left the quest. Opened his eyes to set them on the little girl he was with, she had fallen fast asleep and snoring cutely. He twisted his eyes on the horizon where the massacre was taking place. He could see people being forced onto the airships as other airships were already drifting off from the ground. It was a clear sign that they were leaving and taking hostages.

At Summer Camp Blue Hotel, the same fate had befallen on them just like it did in Lusaka township, because Summer Camp Blue Hotel was located in the northern region of Plagatoscal city. It was also in ruins, the land had become very desolate like a desert. Almost all the buildings have been dismantled. Mr James Parker hid in a Vault just like Fabrice Targan or General Martins. Earlier on, he had tried so badly over and over again to keep in touch with Jasmine, he had failed and, the same now, his mind badly in pain, fatigue dominating. All his calls kept failing, and he couldn't get through to her.

In his heart he hoped that she had found a way to get to the vault at Lusaka Blue Hotel and remembered the safety precautions he had run through her and took cover. He was on his knees earnestly, wishing, praying to his higher self to protect Jasmine. For Jasmine was his entire world, he didn't see the point of living if she was no more. Then he recalled that today, Saturday, was particularly Jasmine's first official date she went on, with Delvin. Upon coming to that realization with immediate effect, tears automatically welled up in his brown eyes. His face had already turned dark and pale.

Effortlessly, they streamed heavily like the might river of Amazon as he began to shiver uncontrollably like a person possessed with demons or devils. He calmed himself as another huge worry dawned on him, that of Rosemary Parker, his wife, not knowing what her status was. Or her folly, or the same dreadful omen that fell on Plagatoscal city also Had fallen to where she was?

He grabbed his phone from the table after crawling, for he was definitely powerless, he dialed her number and sent a call. Although he was very aware that it was almost impossible to reach her, because she was the one who had the right to call him and not the other way round because of her way of work. He tried several times. The call could not connect no matter what effort he put in.

When he zoomed on top of the phone's screen and found that there was completely no signal on the network bars. He picked up the satellite phone from his small locker. It, too, gave the same response. He sighed deeply, not knowing what to do or what he would tell his wife if she survived this blood massacre on doomsday.

The airships had disappeared by now. Only two remained, with about fifty Alien armies standing or waiting around without apparent purpose. Delvin carried the child in his arms and started running towards Death Driven Valley because it was time he had to check on Jasmine. He hoped all was well with Jasmine looking at the position of the cave if she did not try to force her way out. In Delvin's mind, it was a perfect hideout for her.

In about ten minutes, he had reached Death Driven Valley and a new record, set fourth from the fifteen minutes of his usual normal timeline. As Delvin entered the cave, he called out loudly, 'Jasmine! I am back?' He was calling like a husband who is from work or war, and is come home, he wants to meet his wife. He thought maybe she didn't hear, so he increased the pitch, 'Jasmine?'

There was again no response. Now his heart became troubled, it was getting conflicted, it began to thump extremely fast, fear creeping in. He walked faster than he does most. The moment he had reached the furthest, he discovered there was nobody, just darkness, the stones of the cave welcomed him with coldness.

He shouted, 'Jasmine?'

Not believing his eyes, he hurried outside thinking maybe she had gone outside and was just nearby recuperating. There was indeed nothing he could do now, his knees grew weak, as he squatted down onto his knees and wept like a child, the child still in his arms sympathizing with him.

He blamed himself for leaving her. The more a thousand questions continued popping up, and consuming him, he realized it was not going to help that much. But Mister Parker came in the picture. He thought, if he had survived the massacre what would he tell him, or how would he live without her?

She was his world. Where was she, dead or taken captive? He tried to listen to his heart, which knew all things, he did not believe at all that she might be dead, captured maybe, that was what his gut was telling as of that moment. He decided to stop crying and was ready to take actions. Aliens involved in the killing or capturing Jasmine are going to have to pay a hundred-fold punishment.

He looked at the child who had tears in her eyes, 'What is your name dear?'

As he cleared the tears from her eyes. 'Anna.'

She said gently. He exhaled out hot breath from the bottom of his bosom, trying to cool down his temper as much as possible.

'Well, mine is Delvin.' The girl's face lightened up though it looked very pale pinkish.

Delvin comforted her, 'Anna, don't be afraid you are safe with me, it looks like it's just you and me now, remaining here on planet earth, so we are going to take the alien airships and go and rescue the captives, our friends and families. No one can do that apart from us.'

The child nodded her head as if she was an adult who understood what was on the line.

Delvin went on, 'How old are you, Anna?'

'I will be turning ten years old in three months from now.'

'That is great news to hear. Is it OK if I call you my friend?' Delvin asked smoothly, but was curious to know what was going to be her response.

'Yes, but I will call you my hero because you saved me.' Anna responded nonchalantly.

Delvin made a dim smile, although his face was gloomy. He was impressed with the intelligence of this cute little girl. After listening to her, he vowed to do anything possible in his power to protect her, and if she wanted to be trained by him, he would do it all heartily, make her the most deadly weapon that ever existed on earth.

As for now, he needed food for both of them. Especially the little girl Anna. 'Anna, let's first get some revenge and then get ourselves something to eat. Is that fine with you?' She nodded her head.

Inside the vault, Fabrice Targan could see that the war had ended and there were no more fights nor an alien army loitering around. He was able to see with some of the cameras not destroyed or covered in dust or stones. The vault had been built underground, so he pressed the key button for it to resurface on the ground. While he wondered what he would meet out there, or if there were any survivors.

In the other vault where General Martins was, he was undoubtedly not certain what remained in the Plagatoscal city, or when to resurface. He wasn't aware of the happenings. If he has to resurface, it will be guess work and a risk move. He tried to contact the other three ZamCorp bases. He did not get through, even the people outside the vault within Plagatoscal city, and that meant including his wife, for whom he didn't know what her fate was.

Delvin was now near the two airships. He hid with Anna behind a big rock.

'Anna, listen to me carefully, if anything comes near you. You scream my name and I will be here in a second to be your hero once again. Do you hear me?'

She nodded her head, followed by a cute, sweet voice, 'Yes.'

Putting on the serious face of an adult. Delvin smiled appreciatively, 'Good girl, I will go chat with those bullies. If they don't behave themselves, I will beat them up. You just hide here and don't look or watch whatever will be happening there. Alright?'

'Yes, Delvin.'

Delvin patted her back, as he started walking into the lions' den. Amazingly, he had no plan set up in place. He was going to go on a suicide mission. The minute he had reached the airships and the aliens saw him, he raised his hands up as a sign of surrender. The enemy army was surprised that one human had survived and surrendered himself. They dropped their guard.
