Chapter 5 - Town Hologram

It only took George a few minutes to reply, 'sure, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try out our luck one more time!'

Both were in high spirits, as they commenced walking. The town was about thirty minutes from Lusaka Blue Hotel.

On another continent, inside Zoom Association Multi Cooperation Base Four, a senior scientist was busy working with samples of test tubes which contained blood, urine, stew when the computer system he was using showed a match in DNA on the display.

It's Togota. He opened a green file on the table. It had pictures of a baby who apparently disappeared without a trace. He flipped the photos quite fast, his face beaming with excitement about his breakthrough. He came across a page with codes and components that could complete their experiment.

He passed the file to his fellow scientists. They went through the file rapidly, eyes wide open, it simply suggested they could not believe what the eyes witnessed. When they had finished, they jumped up and hugged each other tightly.

The senior scientist entered the codes on a huge touch keyboard about two meters in length and one meter in width.

Shortly, the hologram brought up Delvin's pictures when he was fifteen years and the updated picture at twenty-one. His name popped up, age, city and his current location.

Back in Plagatoscal city, Delvin and George were chatting, laughing, fantasizing about what they might buy and do when they got the money. Without even realizing the distance, the two were in town.

Unfortunately, the person they wanted to see was not available, the shop was closed, Delvin's entire hope of making his life easy was shut down.

In bitter anger, he exclaimed, 'God-damned!' He slammed the steel door so strongly, a banging noise erupted and covered their vicinity.

'This was my last hope of making our movement easy tomorrow.'

He stood respiring heavily. George, too, was conflicted, but he held his emotions firmly and dared not fight himself.

With a comforting resonance. 'Take heart Brother, we have so made it this far, the same will certainly do tomorrow. Come on, let's get going. We have a long way home.'

He listened attentively to Georges' advice and suggestion. He was silent for thirty seconds, he breathed in and out harmoniously. His nerves cooled down.

In a low tone he came out, 'I guess you are right. Let's go.'

As they made a few steps, the Town hologram turned on. Straight away, Delvin and George paused, they knew what was coming next.

A man appeared on the hologram, he was kind of charming, nearly in his sixties, 'Attention everyone!'

The man on the hologram paused to give people a chance to collect themselves.

Delvin and George moved closer to the hologram. They knew that whenever the hologram popped up there was important news from the military. More people drew near to the hologram.

The man on the hologram was very huge, his face was quite rough, his chin was smooth. He wore a combat with main stars on his left chest, he was definitely a military personnel.

He then resumed speaking, 'Good evening everyone? My name is General Martins.'

He paused for a second, then resumed, 'The ZamCorp Base One is currently recruiting technicians in the following fields. Electrical engineers, Electronic Engineers, aircraft engineers, and anything related to aviation engineering. Come and apply at ZamCorp Base One. Thank you for listening, and goodnight.'

The moment he cut his speech, the hologram turned off. Delvin was struck with exuberance about what he had just heard. He covered his mouth with his right hand. He could not hold his emotions while standing, so he sat down and pressed both hands on his mouth. Tears began streaming into his cheeks. He was out of words, people watched with astonishment at the drama unfolding, yet Delvin was lost in his dream world.

George dragged his friend out, 'Wow! Your long awaited dream has come to pass. This is your opportunity, brother, to soar high.'

Delvin had been hoping, praying and wishing for an opportunity to be a part of ZamCorp. He believed that the moment he stepped into that building he would say bye to his poverty, at the same time become a powerful figure, and be able to defend himself if his past came to find him. Now there is an opening, it was an unbelievable scene for him. He mastered his strength as he verbalized.

'Yes, I have been waiting for this moment for such a long time. Thank God it's here, it seems like the Universe is playing tricks on me. Am I dreaming, George?'

Georges' eyes were also getting wet, he was full of contentedness and satisfaction for his friend. He politely remarked, 'No, brother, it's all real, I will get to witness you rising to glory. I will be cheering for you.'

With a thousand thoughts jumping up and down in Delvin's mind, 'I have to go there now, brother, please escort me?'

Without even wasting time, George came out with a powerful, energetic vocal, 'Yes. Let's go, Brother.'

ZamCorp Base One was on their way home from town. They walked very fast, like trained soldiers.

One hour later, they stood at ZamCorp Base One entrance waiting for their turn.

ZamCorp Base One was a very huge facility. It covered about an area of five thousand meters by five thousand meters. The entrance itself had about five gates. Each gate had a different function.

Delvin and George just stood at the front of the first one. There was one security guard who guided all those who were applying. Before the front gate to the left there was a small gray machine, which looked like an ATM machine. It consisted of only two buttons, the red and the green one. This is the machine Delvin was instructed to go to and press the green button.

It produced a ticket which had a code number. He grabbed the ticket, went back in the queue, and he had to wait for his number to be called. About twenty-five minutes later, an automated voice reverberated, 'Number twenty-four?'
