Chapter 44 - The Plan of "Using Poison to Treat Poison"

In a perilous situation, the Sage Rat understood that only a clever plan could change the tide. He decided to adopt the method of "using poison to treat poison," a risky strategy in which he would sacrifice one life to save others in the future.

With a heavy heart, the Sage Rat dodged the chaos around him and fled the battlefield. He ran to a high vantage point, where he could carefully observe the ongoing conflict below. While watching, he knew he needed to identify a character who could serve as a scapegoat, and quickly spotted an injured rabbit. This rabbit was not only severely hurt but also unable to help its allies or defeat the enemy. It had betrayed its comrades and hidden in a small corner, as if fate had caught up with it when it was attacked by a small group of foxes. Now, the rabbit lay struggling, facing excruciating pain.

The Sage Rat couldn't contain his emotions. Tears streamed down his tiny face as he thought of the rabbit's fate. But at that moment, a familiar voice echoed in his mind—it was Encyclopedia Ball. The sphere warned that sacrificing many lives could lead the remaining survivors to realize the cruelty of their actions and reassess their wrongdoings.

The Sage Rat understood that this might be a good opportunity to change the situation. Despite the pain in his heart, he decided to be the indirect factor that would lead to the rabbit's death. He needed a perfect trap to lure the attacking foxes.

Quickly, the Sage Rat ran to the injured rabbit and made noises to attract the attention of the other foxes. As the foxes approached, he had prepared a trap made of vines and sturdy branches. The trap was cleverly designed with tightly bound vines, so that once a sufficient weight was applied, it would activate.

When the foxes began to attack the rabbit, the Sage Rat would trigger the trap. He aimed for the strong branches above, and when the foxes attacked, the trap would be activated. Encyclopedia Ball, using its power, would fly high and hit the branches, causing the vines to tighten. The result was a horrific and tragic scene where the rabbit was left hanging, along with the two foxes caught in the Sage Rat's trap.

At the battlefield, all the animals stopped, looking at the lifeless body of the rabbit, suspended in the air. The two foxes were also struggling, trapped in the snare. This image left all the creatures present in shock, as the harsh reality of the battle they were engaged in suddenly became clearer than ever.

In that moment, the Sage Rat knew he had performed a terrifying yet necessary act. He might have sacrificed one life, but he hoped that this would make all the animals realize the brutality of the conflict and seek peace.
