Chapter 41 - Harry Black Theory

Ottery St Catchpole.

The Lovegood Family House is an eccentric residence located on the outskirts of the village of Ottery St. Catchpole, near the Weasley Burrow.

Built in a cylindrical shape and with an unconventional style, the house reflects the peculiar personality of its inhabitants.

The interior is filled with intriguing magical objects, extravagant decorations, and editions of The Quibbler, the newspaper edited by Xenophilius Lovegood.

At this moment, in one of the house's rooms, a beautiful girl was lying casually on her bed, her eyes fixed on the curtain of light. However, small flickers of distraction indicated that her mind wandered through scattered thoughts.

She had pale skin, long, messy blonde hair, and striking light blue eyes that gave her a dreamy expression.

Luna Lovegood.

Only this girl possessed such features in the wizarding world.

"Incredible... It seems Narguilé was actually right..."

Her ethereal voice carried a faint tone of surprise when, suddenly, a golden beam of light emitted by the Comparison Room struck her head.

Maybe because of the lack of reaction or simply because she didn't want to move, Luna remained dazed as the knowledge of the Beast Control Method filled her mind.

She blinked slowly, her expression returning to its usual state of calm.

According to the information transmitted, Beast Control Magic allowed the user to form contracts with magical creatures.

This contract not only established a master-servant relationship between the user and the creature but also enabled the sharing of one of its abilities.

The number of creatures with which a contract could be formed was directly related to the user's mental power.

As Luna studied her new magic, her father, Xenophilius Lovegood, knocked on the door. Storing away her thoughts, she responded and opened the door for him to enter.

"So, Luna, did you receive any incredible rewards?"

Xenophilius's interest in strange things was only slightly less than his daughter's, and the rewards from the Comparison Room certainly intrigued him.

Luna saw no reason to hide anything from her father and clearly explained all the details about her new Beast Control Magic.

After listening, Xenophilius did not show surprise. Instead, his face took on a somewhat solemn expression. After a few moments of silence, he looked seriously at his daughter.

"Luna, don't be like Harry. Even if asked, say nothing about your magic."

For the first time, Luna sensed the seriousness in her father's voice. Nodding lightly, she promised to keep her magic a secret.

She was intelligent, after all, a true Ravenclaw. She understood well the consequences of exposing such a rare power to the wizarding world.

Just as Xenophilius had predicted, in the chat group, several people questioned Snape and Luna about their rewards.

Although many could deduce approximate effects, nothing was more valuable than hearing directly from those involved.

Snape, as expected, completely ignored the questions, while Luna remained indifferent to the curiosity of others.

When they realized they would get no answers, the group's interest gradually faded.

The grand golden curtain of light began to dissipate, and the black curtain of light once again shone intensely.

[After leaving the Potions Room, Harry Black had not walked far before noticing Hermione waiting for him near the stairs. Upon seeing her, an involuntary smile appeared on his face.

Hermione also smiled, and together they headed toward Professor Flitwick's Charms class.

As soon as the class began, Harry Black's first impression of the professor was that he was an extremely kind and dedicated person, teaching each student with great patience and attention.

At first, Harry Black worried that the first-year Charms lessons would not be of much help to him. However, to his surprise, Flitwick presented magical theories in a far more accessible way than any of the books he had purchased in Diagon Alley.

Soon, Harry Black discovered that Professor Flitwick's theoretical knowledge of Charms was miles ahead of many renowned authors.

And, without a doubt, he himself would benefit greatly from it.

When Professor Flitwick allowed the students to ask their questions, Harry Black immediately raised his hand. Hermione was very surprised to see that he actually had a question about the professor's explanation.

Flitwick, in turn, was visibly pleased to notice Harry Black's interest.

"Very well, Mr. Potter! Tell me, what question would you like to share with all of us?"

Harry Black did not respond immediately. He reflected for a moment before finally asking:

"Professor Flitwick, why haven't wizards practiced their magical power from a young age?"

The professor seemed not to fully understand the question and tried to clarify it.

"Mr. Potter, are you referring to the dangers of learning magic at a young age?"

"No, professor. I'm talking about the practice of magical power itself."

Flitwick's interest was piqued, and he gestured for Harry Black to stand up and explain his point more clearly.

Without hesitation, Harry Black stood up and began speaking with clarity:

"Professor Flitwick, it is general knowledge that magic in wizards awakens between the ages of five and seven, usually as an involuntary response to intense emotions. This happens because, at that stage of life, our emotions are not yet fully controlled, and magic instinctively responds to them."

"At the moment of awakening, a wizard's magical power is still immature and malleable, like a piece of clay that can be easily shaped. Children experience emotions more purely and intensely, and their magic is directly influenced by this. For example, if a wizarding child feels extreme fear, their magic can manifest to protect themselves before they even realize it. If they feel anger, they might end up using their power to cause harm around them."

"I think of magic as a new limb of the body. In the beginning it is weak and noticeable, like when a baby discovers its own hands and feet, so it is easier to control. But as a wizard grows, their magic becomes stronger and more robust. The problem is that, just like a muscle that has never been trained, the longer it goes without practice, the harder it becomes to control."

"That is why I believe that if wizards practiced magic control from childhood, before it became a "resisted muscle," they could develop a much more refined mastery over their magical power."

As he waited for Flitwick's response, Harry Black noticed that the room was noisier than usual. The Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students collectively furrowed their brows, seeming to reflect on his words.

He then noticed Hermione staring at her own hand, distracted. Harry Black managed to catch part of her murmurs:

"It's true, it used to be a lot easier..."

When he turned his attention back to Flitwick, he saw that the professor was deep in thought. However, upon noticing Harry Black's gaze, Flitwick straightened up and beamed, seeming even more delighted.

"That is a beautiful theory, Mr. Potter. As for the reason behind it... I must admit, I am not entirely sure. Would you like to discuss this matter with me in your free time?"

Harry Black's eyes flashed, and he quickly agreed. The opportunity to discuss magical theories with Flitwick was something that truly interested him.

"Furthermore, for the excellent theory proposed by Mr. Potter, I award you ten points!"

The atmosphere in the room returned to normal, and Flitwick resumed explaining various theories about magic, while Harry Black, along with the Ravenclaw students, took the opportunity to ask more questions.

When the lesson ended and Harry Black prepared to leave, Flitwick called him:

"Mr. Potter, I have noticed that you have a great interest in spellwork. If you wish, you may come to my office so we can discuss the subject further."

Harry Black was surprised before smiling and accepting the offer. He really wanted to debate some more complex topics with Flitwick, which would not be suitable for everyone to hear.

After bidding farewell to the professor, it was time for lunch, and Harry Black went to join Ron and Neville.]
