Once the ceremony ended, Lin Xiao Feng and An Nuan were taken to the restroom for a quick break. Later, they were going to come out again to meet their guests.
Lin Xiao Feng stood up straight as he listened to the wedding planner's words. While An Nuan was looking distracted, Lin Xiao Feng was listening with focus. As the substitute groom, there were many things that he was unaware of.
Once the wedding planner left, only the newlywed couple were left in the room.
Lin Xiao Feng observed his newlywed wife briefly with a mixed feeling.
He was happy that An Nuan had become his wife. But unlike other brides, there was no trace of happiness on An Nuan's face.
"Are you alright?" Lin Xiao Feng asked.
An Nuan raised her head and finally met Lin Xiao Feng's gaze. A forced smile appeared on her lips. "I'm fine. Just relieved that everything is going smoothly."
The light in her eyes flickered.
She now has become Lin Xiao Feng's wife. From now on, she could no longer return to Pei Zhi Yi's side. The realization made her both sad and relieved at the same time.
An Nuan blinked a few times as she forced herself not to think about Pei Zhi Yi again. But then, she was worried that Pei Zhi Yi and his family would soon look for her to make trouble.
"An Nuan."
"Hmm?" He raised her head to look at Lin Xiao Feng again.
"What are you planning to do after this?" Lin Xiao Feng asked. "I know that you are looking for a substitute groom to avoid your ex from coming to you again."
An Nuan felt a dull pain in her heart as she heard Lin Xiao Feng referring to Pei Zhi Yi as her ex.
"But, do you have anything planned?"
It was then that An Nuan remembered that she did not have a proper conversation with Lin Xiao Feng regarding their marriage.
She looked around the room and finally, her eyes fell on the large sofa at the side. "Lin Xiao Feng." She paused to point at the sofa. "Let's sit down and talk."
"Alright." Lin Xiao Feng nodded. He followed An Nuan and sat next to her.
There was a long silence in the room.
Lin Xiao Feng waited for An Nuan to speak first, knowing that she might need some time to arrange her thoughts.
Too many things happened today and An Nuan was probably overwhelmed by the sudden decision she made earlier.
An Nuan played with the lace on her dress. She closed her eyes and let out a chuckle. "Actually, Pei Zhi Yi and I planned to go on a honeymoon in T Country. It seemed that the tickets and the hotel payment would go to waste."
"You can still go," Lin Xiao Feng said. "You could take this time to calm down."
An Nuan looked at him with a complicated gaze.
"If I'm not wrong, I believe that your ex will come to look for you," Lin Xiao Feng pointed out. "You could take this chance to avoid him for a while."
The light in An Nuan's flickered. She thought that Lin Xiao Feng's suggestion did not sound so bad.
At this time, she was not ready to face Pei Zhi Yi. She knew how persistent Pei Zhi Yi could be and she was too lazy to deal with him at this moment.
"You could ask your friend to accompany you," Lin Xiao Feng continued. "Take this chance to compose your thoughts and figure out what you are going to do next. Don't think of anything else other than yourself. As for what happened here... I will take care of everything. I promise you that I will help you." He paused to think if he had missed anything. "I will cover the expense of the new flight tickets as well as your spending money for your vacation. Just go and play around as much as you like."
A faint smile curled on An Nuan's face. "I can go on this honeymoon with my friends but Lin Xiao Feng, you don't have to pay for my expenses. I still have my money." Her heart warmed as she thought of Lin Xiao Feng's consideration.
"I want to. An Nuan, you are now my wife. We are legally married," Lin Xiao Feng pointed out.
An Nuan's heart trembled. She remembered that she had put down her signature on the wedding certificate earlier.
Lin Xiao Feng was right. They were now legally married.
"I know that we both had our reasons for this marriage," Lin Xiao Feng continued. "But as your legal husband, I intended to fulfill my responsibility to you. Providing you with a safe place to live and giving you spending money is part of my responsibility. You know very well about what I do. I can't afford to have other people talk badly about me."
Lin Xiao Feng did not feel good about using his career growth to reason with An Nuan. But this was the only reason he knew to make An Nuan listen to his arrangement.
An Nuan chuckled. "Alright then. Someone is planning to give me money. How can I reject you?"
Lin Xiao Feng's eyes softened upon hearing that An Nuan was not going to argue with him about this.
A thought came to his mind, making him realize that there were so many things that they could discuss.
Lin Xiao Feng shifted his sitting position so that he would be facing An Nuan. "In front of the elders, let's act like we are a proper married couple," Lin Xiao Feng suggested.
"That is what I have in mind. Lin Xiao Feng, I don't want my parents to worry about me."
Her father's words as he handed her to Lin Xiao Feng in the wedding hall echoed in her mind.
"I know. I promised your father that I would take care of you. An Nuan, I don't like to break my promise."
His words made An Nuan smile again. She could tell that choosing to marry Lin Xiao Feng as the substitute was a good plan."
