Chapter 23 - Three Years Later

Inside my crib, I shook my head. I needed to seriously amend my plans for the future. The fact that I had to wait for months to increase my bloodline density, not to mention go through… that, was going to be insanely troubling.

For now, I need to stick with improving my mana manipulation. And rely on my training from the academy.

Eighty percent of transmigrators die in their first year. This statistic seemed even more horrifying now that it applied to me.

I need to keep my mana manipulation training a secret. Rule 7 of transmigration guidebook issued by the association instructed divers, especially those between five to ten years old to keep a low profile. To never behave out of the ordinary, showing abilities that shouldn't be common for a normal child.

I must follow this guidebook to its last sentence. I turned to take a look at the giant skeleton outside my window. I had been here for only a month, and I could already tell this world was far more dangerous than something in the red zone.

Slightly nodding at the skeleton, I promised myself. I will survive.

Time raced forward-seasons passed as days turned into months and months turned into years.

Right now, I, alongside my sister, was standing in front of a wooden door

We were actually supposed to reach here several minutes ago, but I had insisted we be late.

Punctuality wasn't very important after all, not when it came to me trying to educate her.

"It's simple, really, forcing us to come here every day, making us sit in the same spot for hours. It's all about control.

"Orion you are talking all weird again." My sister quipped, but i ignored her. It might be weird for a three year old to talk like an adult but I wasn't going to play the naive child act in front of another naive child.

"They do this to manipulate us into submission and make us a cog of this soul-sucking system. So that one day when we grow up, we remember who is really in charge."

"But Father is the king; he is in charge."

"That's not what this is about." I grabbed Myria's shoulder. Of course, I had to stand on my toes since she was considerably taller than me.

"This is about oppression." I gazed deep into her eyes. "This is about breaking away from these so-called societal norms and carving out our own path, becoming a person of our own."

Hearing me, Myra's face turned serious, and she hurriedly nodded, her long silver hair swaying behind her. She must really want this. Myra wasn't one of the most obedient for a six-year-old.

"Good", I turned around. "So you understand what you have to do?"

Myria nodded again. "I will barge inside, look Teacher Borin in the eyes, and tell him I am feeling faint, after which I'll leave and enjoy the rest of my day."

I nodded in satisfaction. It had been months since both of us had been forced to come and take hour-long lessons without a break; this little girl needed to have some off time."And are you ready to show your sick face?" I asked a final time to ensure everything was prepared.

"Yes, brother." Myria nodded." I actually stayed up last night and practiced in front of the mirror."

My hands that were about to push open the door paused mid-air. It's good that you are practicing sister, but I would appreciate it if you called me by my secret Royal Title.

Myria paused in hesitation and lowered her head. "Y-Yes, Supreme Commander of All Playtime."

Nodding in satisfaction, I pushed open the door and urged Myria to follow inside. I, too, follow behind. Looking at her confidently walking to tell her first lie to a teacher, I couldn't help but feel proud.

It had been three years since I came into this world, and I had already begun to shape its youth.

As for why I, a three-year-old, was joining a six-year-old in her lessons? It was because of a simple reason, I broke Rule 7.

I had spent my first two years quietly, learning this world's language and practicing my mana manipulation.

I had even managed to increase my bloodline's density to a complete 3%, experiencing one death after another. Mana Manipulation on the other hand had been a bit difficult to improve. Despite daily practice I had only managed to take it as far as level 3.

Yet, in the end, I had finally been defeated by my curiosity and boredom. The fact that My Blood Resonance Art had been showing me visions about that great war was no help.

So, in the end, I ended up subtly showing some of my arithmetic skills during dinner.

For some reason, Mother showed a fearful expression. Father, on the other hand, was overjoyed and instructed Myria's teacher to take me under his tutelage and teach me how to read and write for hours and hours and hours every day.

I would have already regretted this if it weren't for the Palace Library.

The room inside was similar to a miniature version of a classroom from my previous world. There was a chalkboard in the center of the wall with two desks in front of it. In front of the board stood a thin man with long grey beard.

"Ah, my lady, my lord. You are a bit late today." Teacher Borin chuckled.
