David sat alone at the dining table, the soft glow of the kitchen light illuminating his face.
It was around 2 a.m., and the house was finally quiet after the long day of celebration.
Most of the guests had either left or were asleep, but David couldn't seem to settle down.
His mind was racing, filled with fragments of conversation, the warmth of family, and, most of all, his grandfather's words.
He swirled the last bit of sake in his glass, lost in thought.
The old man's advice had hit him harder than he expected, stirring up feelings he usually kept buried.
The weight of time, of purpose, pressed down on him, making him question the direction his life had taken.
The sound of soft footsteps pulled him from his reverie.
David looked up, surprised to see Kaede walking into the room, her nightgown loose and flowing, her hair slightly tousled from sleep.
She didn't say anything as she approached, her expression unreadable, though there was something in her eyes.
"Can't sleep?" David asked quietly, his voice cutting through the stillness of the night.
Kaede shook her head, a small, tired smile tugging at the corner of her lips as she slid into the chair beside him.
Despite the slight intoxication lingering from the party, there was alertness in her gaze.
"Yeah," she replied softly. "I tried, but... for some reason, I just can't."
David nodded, understanding that feeling all too well. He took another sip of sake, then set the glass down with a soft clink.
In the silence that followed, Kaede sat close enough that their arms brushed.
The air between them felt charged, as if the unspoken tension from earlier was still lingering.
David couldn't quite place why she seemed so restless, but the atmosphere was suddenly very different. He could sense it.
Kaede, on the other hand, was struggling to maintain her composure.
Despite the guilt and confusion clouding her mind, her body was betraying her.
The events of the previous night kept replaying in her head—the kisses, the way David had stopped her.
The taboo nature of it all Snapped some sort of restraint in her.
It sent her pulse racing even now, and she cursed herself for being unable to calm down.
She bit her lip, feeling a heat rise in her cheeks.
Being this close to him, especially after everything, made her more aware of her emotions, her desires.
It was wrong, she knew that.
But the more she tried to push it away, the stronger the feelings came rushing back.
David could feel the tension thickening, though he remained quiet, unsure of what to say or do.
Something was clearly bothering her, but pressing her about it didn't feel right either, since he wouldn't want to be pressed like that.
He glanced at her, noticing how her breathing had quickened slightly, her eyes fixed on the floor.
"Kaede..." he started gently, unsure where his words were going.
But she didn't let him finish. With a sudden movement, Kaede turned to face him fully, her eyes locking onto his with a kind of intensity that made David freeze.
There was no mistaking what was going through her mind now. It was written all over her face—the desire, the guilt, the conflict.
Her hands gripped the edge of her nightgown nervously, and her voice came out shaky. "I... I'm sorry about last night," she whispered, though there was something in her tone that suggested she wasn't entirely just sorry.
David felt his heart skip a beat, and his mouth went dry.
He had brushed off the incident, not wanting to make things awkward between them.
"It's... it's okay," he replied cautiously, trying to gauge what she was thinking.
"You don't need to apologize. I told you already, I didn't want to take advantage of you."
Kaede's breath hitched slightly, and she looked down at her hands, fingers twisting nervously in her lap. "I know, but..."
She trailed off, biting her lip again. "I can't stop thinking about it."
Kaede took a shaky breath, her emotions welling up to the point where she couldn't hold them back anymore.
She looked at David, her eyes glassy with unshed tears, the weight of everything she'd been bottling up crashing down on her.
It was like a dam breaking, and she couldn't stop the flood of words that followed.
"I—I don't understand why I feel like this," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I don't know what's wrong with me. But I… I want to ... Sleep with you."
David blinked, utterly taken aback, his breath caught in his throat.
He opened his mouth to respond , but Kaede didn't stop, the tears in her eyes threatening to spill over as she spoke with raw frustration and confusion.
"I practically raised you," she continued, her voice rising with each word. "I watched you grow up, took care of you, and now—"
She clenched her fists, her knuckles white from the strain. "Now I can't stop thinking about you like this. It's so fucking sick, it's wrong, and I don't understand why I feel this way, but I do, and it's eating me alive."
Her words came faster, spilling out in a torrent of emotion she'd been holding back for too long. "You're my nephew, David. You're supposed to be like a son to me, and yet here I am, sitting here, wanting something I shouldn't even be thinking about! I don't know what's wrong with me!"
Tears streamed down her cheeks now as she looked at him, her face contorted with frustration, guilt, and something deeper, something she couldn't quite name.
"I just want to feel something again," she choked out, her voice breaking. "I don't know why… I don't know why it's you. But I can't stop. I can't stop wanting you."
David sat frozen, his mind buzzed from the intensity of her confession.
He didn't know how to respond, didn't know what to say to her in that moment, incest was bizarre situation to him.
The room felt suffocating, thick with the tension between them, and Kaede's sobs filled the silence.
"I hate myself for it," she whispered, her voice hoarse now from the tears. "I hate that I feel this way, but I can't help it. I'm so confused, and I just… I just needed to tell you."
She looked down, wiping at her tears furiously, ashamed of the feelings she had finally let out.
David's brow furrowed as the tension between them seemed to grow thicker, more palpable.
'I think those feeling come from her clearly unstable mind '
His mind raced as he tried to figure out what to do, how to handle this without making things worse.
Kaede, however, was done overthinking.
She'd spent the entire day wrestling with her guilt, her desire, and the taboo of what she wanted.
But now, in the stillness of the night, with him right here, all those emotions came crashing down on her at once.
The line between right and wrong blurred.
David's heart pounded in his chest as Kaede's words sank in.
He could feel the weight of her emotions pressing down on him, her desperate plea echoing in his mind.
For a moment, he just sat there, speechless, caught between the deep affection he had for her as the woman who had practically raised him and the undeniable tension that had surfaced after last night.
He closed his eyes, trying to steady his breath. "Kaede," he said slowly, his voice low and steady despite the storm raging inside him. "This... this isn't right. You know that. We both do."
She looked at him, eyes wide and filled with a mixture of desperation and guilt. "I know it's not right," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
"But I can't help it, David. I can't—" She swallowed hard.
"I don't know what I'll do if I don't just... get this out of our system. Just once, David. I swear. One time. I don't want to feel like this anymore."
David shook his head, struggling against the urge to give in, to cross that line he knew would change everything.
"Kaede, you're saying that now, but this won't make things better. It's only going to mess us both up even more."
Kaede grabbed his arm, her grip surprisingly strong as she leaned closer, her tear-filled eyes locking onto his.
"Please, David," she practically begged. "It's just one time. After that, I'll stop. I just need to feel something that isn't this gnawing emptiness. I can't do it.."
David's jaw clenched.
He knew he should keep resisting.
He knew what the right thing was. But as her words poured out, something in him began to crack.
Deep down, the part of him he'd ruthlessly buried started to stir again.
Last night had awoken feelings in him he never thought he'd have toward her, and while he'd forced himself to ignore it, the way his heart had gone doki doki hadn't completely disappeared.
His resolve was cracked.
He sighed, closing his eyes for a long moment, knowing that if he said yes, nothing would be the same after tonight.
But hearing her voice so broken, seeing her so vulnerable, twisted something inside him.
The instinctual male part of him that was attracted to crazy was overpowering the rational part with the "I can fix her "
"Kaede," he said softly, his tone almost pained. "If we do this, there's no going back. You realize that, right?"
She nodded quickly, tears still streaming down her face. "I know. I know... but I can't take this anymore. I just need this, David. Please."
David took a long, shaky breath.
He knew this was a mistake, a line they shouldn't cross.
But, against every rational thought, his walls were breaking down.
He couldn't leave her like this, not when the part of him he'd tried so hard to ignore was starting to feel the same pull.
"Just once," he finally whispered, almost as if trying to convince himself.
"Just this one time, and we stop. After this, we stop."
Kaede nodded again, a mixture of relief and something else flashing in her tear-filled eyes. "Yes," she whispered back, her voice barely audible. "Just this once."
And with that, the restraints between them snapped.
