Chapter 1 - The Mysterious Package

"Hey, Mom! I'm home!" Dora trudged up the walkway, her backpack weighed down by textbooks and her mind preoccupied with the math test she had just bombed. She pushed open the creaky front door, calling out to her mom as she entered. Her mom, busy in the kitchen, poked her head out, a curious expression on her face. "Hey, sweetie! Welcome back. I got a surprise for you." Dora's eyes lit up as she dropped her backpack on the floor.

"What is it?" Her mom gestured to the kitchen counter, where a small, unmarked package sat. "One of your classmates dropped it off while you were out. Said it was urgent."

Dora's curiosity piqued, she approached the package cautiously. It was wrapped in brown paper and tied with yellow colored ribbons, with no indication of who sent it or what it contained on its surface. A shiver ran down her spine as she picked it up, feeling an odd tingling sensation in her fingers.

"Mom, who gave this to you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Her mom's expression turned serious. "That's the weird part. He didn't leave a name. Just said it was important and that you'd know what it meant." Dora's mind raced as she turned the package over in her hands. What could it be? A prank from a classmate? A secret message from a friend? Or something more sinister? With a deep breath, she carefully unwrapped the yellow ribbons and paper, revealing a small, unmarked box inside. Her heart raced as she lifted the lid, revealing a dark, velvety interior. And that's when she saw it. A small, glowing object that seemed to pulse with a mysterous energy. Dora's eyes widened in shock as she felt the room spin around her. What was this thing? And why did it feel so... dangerous?

Suddenly, the lights flickered, and the air grew thick with an eerie silence. Dora's heart pounded hard as she realized that there seemed to be something strange about the package. Dora's eyes scanned the gift box again, this time more thoroughly. And that's when she saw it - a small note, almost imperceptible, with a name scribbled on it: "Cloe". Her heart skipped a beat as she realized the truth. The gift was sent by Cloe, the weird boy in her class. The one who always wore black and had an aura of mystery surrounding him. Dora's mind clashed with questions. What did Cloe want with me? Why had he sent me such a strange gift? And how did he even know my name? She felt a shiver run down her spine as she gazed at the gift box, now seemingly ominous in her hands. "What was Cloe upto? And what did he want from me?" With a sense of trepidation, Dora tucked the gift box into her bag, her eyes scanning the package for any other written message but never saw any. She had a feeling that Cloe was upto something. Dora's eyes popped up as she pulled out the gift box and opened it again, her fingers trembling slightly. Inside, she saw a beautiful necklace, unlike anything she had ever seen before. It was made of a strange, glowing metal, and it seemed to pulse with intermittently. But as she examined the necklace more closely, she saw something that made her heart skip a beat. Etched into the metal, in a language she couldn't understand, was an occultic symbol. It looked ancient, sinister, and yet... mesmerizing.

Dora felt a shiver run down her spine as she gazed at the symbol. She didn't know what it meant, but she knew it couldn't be good. And yet... she couldn't help but feel drawn to the necklace. It was as if it was calling to her, whispering secrets in her ear. Despite her reservations, Dora found herself putting on the necklace. It felt heavy, yet strangely comforting, like a warm embrace. She gazed at her reflection in the mirror, and the glowing metal seemed to pulse in time with her heartbeat.

"What are you, Cloe?" she whispered to herself. "And what have you gotten me into?" Dora couldn't explain why, but as soon as she put on the necklace, she felt a sudden wave of drowsiness wash over her. It was as if the glowing metal was emitting some kind of hypnotic energy, drawing her into a trance-like state. At first, she tried to fight it, but her eyelids grew heavy, and her legs felt like lead. She stumbled and staggered, her vision blurring, until she finally collapsed onto her bed. As she lay there, she felt herself being pulled into a dark, abyss-like void. She tried to scream, but her voice was silenced by some unseen force. And then, everything went black. In a trance, she saw herself lying in her bed, the necklace still clutched in her hand. But something felt off. The room seemed different, the shadows cast in strange, ominous ways. She sat up, her heart beating fast, and that's when she imagined seeing it. A figure, standing in the corner of her room, watching her.

"Cloe?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. But the figure didn't move, didn't speak. It just kept watching her, its presence seeming to fill the room with an unspeakable evil.
