Chapter 2 - chapter 2

Dora got so excited as she stepped into the CIA headquarters at Newton City. Six years after graduation, she finally landed her dream job. The sleek, modern building seemed to hum with bee hive of metropolitan activities.. As she entered the office, a tall, handsome colleague approached her.

"Hey, you must be Dora. I'm Cliff. Welcome to the team." Dora smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, Cliff. I'm excited to be here." Cliff showed her around the office, introducing her to the rest of the team. There was Harrison, the stern-looking director; Ben, the quiet, report analyst; and Jenny, the bubbly, blonde receptionist.

Dora tried to make a good impression, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries. But she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The office seemed to be buzzing with activities and her colleagues seemed to be too busy to catch up with.. As she settled into her new cubicle, Dora couldn't help but feel like an outsider. She was determined to prove herself, but she knew it wouldn't be easy. Just as she was starting to feel overwhelmed, Cliff leaned in and whispered, "Hey, Dora, I hope you like working here with us?." Cliff rolled a chair close to her table. Dora nodded and flashed a smile on her face. Cliff and Dora chatted for a while before Cliff finally left Dora to familiarise herself with her work.

Weeks turned into a blur as Dora settled into her new role at the CIA. She was excelling at her job, but that someone was seriously admiring every inch of her figure. Dora noticed that Cliff was always drawing close and closer to her by the day than the rest of her colleagues in the office. Cliff, a handsome, vibrant young man of about 28 years old, who happened to be her colleague and supervisor, had been making subtle advances towards her. At first, Dora had brushed it off as friendly banter, but soon, she couldn't deny the chemistry between them. One fateful evening, as they worked late on a case, Cliff turned to her with a gaze that left her breathless. "Dora, can I ask something?." Cliff asked nervously. Dora dropped the mouse she was rolling on her desk and slowly shifted her attention from the computer that was in front of her to cliff.

"Sure, what's that?." Dora replied swiftly not being sure whether she used the right words. Cliff cleared his voice softly and muttered some words over Dora's ears. "Would you mind going out with me tonight?" Dora's heart pounded as she hesitated, her mind torn between professionalism and desire. But Cliff's piercing eyes left her no escape.

"Okay," she whispered, her voice barely audible. Later that night, approximately 9;45pm, Cliff and Dora met at Stalin night club in Newton city where they spent about an hour enjoying each others company. From that day on, Cliff and Dora plunged into a secret relationship between them. Their relationship went from stolen glances, whispered conversations to romantic dates at clubs and restaurants in the heart of Newton city. One night, as they sat on a rooftop overlooking the city, Cliff took her hand, his eyes burning with intensity. "I want to be with you, Dora. No secrets, no lies. Just us." Dora's heart skipped a beat as she gazed into his eyes, the city lights twinkling below them like diamonds. She knew it was a risk, but she couldn't resist the allure of their love. All through out their stay in the night club Cliff never removed his eyes on Dora. They held each other's hands and shared romantic moments together in the club until it was 10:45pm, Dora felt drowsy and asked Cliff to take her home.

Three days later, Cliff picked up Dora from her apartment for another date at the Berley restaurant. They actually decided to spend their evening at the restaurant. As they were enjoying a romantic dinner at Berley restaurant, laughing and chatting over a bottle of wine, their evening was disrupted when a young lady, looking about 24 years old, stormed into the restaurant and marched towards their table furiously.

"Cliff, you think you can just abandon me?" she spat, her eyes blazing with anger. "You think you can just move on to someone else and forget about me?" Dora's eyes popped out in shock as Cliff's face turned pale. "Uh, I think you've got the wrong guy," Cliff stammered.

But the lady was having none of it. "Don't play dumb with me, Cliff. I know all about your little secret. You're going to regret messing with me." Dora's mind raced as she tried to process what was happening. Who was this lady? What secret was she talking about?

"Listen, I don't know what you're talking about," Cliff repeated, trying to stay calm. But the lady just laughed. "Oh, I think you do. You're going to pay for what you did to me. And I'm going to make sure your precious Dora here knows all about it." With that, she turned and stormed out of the restaurant, leaving Cliff and Dora in an uncomfortable silence.

"What was that all about?" Dora asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Cliff sighed and rubbed his temples. "I don't know, Dora. I swear, I don't know what she's talking about." But Dora's eyes narrowed. She wasn't buying it. "Cliff, tell me the truth. Who was that lady?" Cliff hesitated, then sighed. "Okay, fine. Her name is Sophia. We had a...thing, a while back. But it was nothing serious, I swear." Dora's eyes widened in shock. "A thing? You mean, like a relationship?" Cliff nodded, looking sheepish. "Yeah, I guess you could say that." Dora felt like she had been punched in the gut. She couldn't believe Cliff had kept this from her. "Why didn't you tell me?" she demanded. Cliff shrugged. "I didn't want to hurt you, Dora. I didn't want to ruin what we have." But Dora was already getting up from her seat. "I think we're done here, Cliff."

The next morning at the office, Dora trudged into her office, still hurting from the previous night's events. But as she saw Cliff waiting for her, his eyes filled with remorse, her heart softened.

"Hey, Dora. I'm so sorry again for what happened last night," Cliff said, his voice sincere. "I know I messed up, but I promise to make it up to you." Dora looked at him, her emotions wavering. She loved him, and she wanted to believe him. "Okay, Cliff. I accept your apology," she said finally. Cliff's face lit up with relief, and he pulled her into a hug. "Thank you, Dora. I promise to be honest with you from now on." But little did Cliff know, Dora's trust was about to be shattered once again. As they worked together through the corridor into cliff's office, Dora's curiosity got the better of her, and she secretly scrolled through Cliff's phone. What she saw made her blood boil. Messages from Ellen, Sophia, and Clara, all gushing about their love for Cliff. Dora's heart raced as she realized the truth - Cliff was juggling multiple relationships, including hers. Without a word, Dora stormed out of the office, leaving Cliff bewildered. "Dora, wait! What's wrong?" he called out, but she was already gone. The tension was palpable as Dora confronted Cliff later that day. "You lied to me, Cliff. You're still seeing those other women, aren't you?" she spat, her anger and hurt evident.

Cliff's face fell, and he knew he was caught. "Dora, please listen-" But Dora cut him off, her voice rising. "No, Cliff. I've had enough of your lies. I deserve better than a cheater like you." And with that, she furiously turned towards the door to leave when she accidentally crashed into a woman at the door. Dora quickly apologized to the woman but that wasn't necessary at that moment when the woman was almost looking terrified and tensed up. She badged into cliff's office shouting frantically." There's a monster out there, I really saw it, it is coming to attack us!".. She cried on.
