East Blue, Kingdom of Goa, Mount Colbo.
One old man, three young people.
...
"Have you considered it? Will you follow me to Naval Headquarters?" Vice Admiral Garp asked, looking at the three teenagers before him.
The three were Finn, Ace, and Luffy.
Ace is Garp's adopted grandson, while Finn and Luffy are his biological grandchildren.
Finn is a time traveler, but he's also a native of this world, born here with memories of his previous life. He is two months older than Ace.
However, Finn is frustrated as his system keeps loading and has been stuck at 99% for a long time.
"Ding! The system is loaded. The god-level selection system is being bound..."
As a voice echoed in his mind, Finn was overjoyed.
"Finally, it's done! My day is coming!"
"Grandpa, you know I don't want to be a Marine. Marines are too restrictive. My dream is the sea, and I prefer an unfettered life," Ace said sincerely.
Luffy grinned, raising his fists. "I'm the man who will become the Pirate King! I just—"
Duang!
Pro-grandchildren tend to be a bit stubborn~
Before Luffy could finish, Garp's punch sent him flying, stars dancing around his head.
"Damn it! I'm so mad!" Garp shouted, his face flushed. Seeing Luffy's stubbornness reminded him of his son, Dragon, who also chose a path of rebellion.
Then, Garp turned to Finn, his last hope.
Before Finn could speak, Ace chimed in, "Grandpa, big brother won't go either. He wants to be the One Piece!"
"I am the One Piece!" Luffy protested vehemently.
Duang!
Garp's iron fist of love struck again, smashing Luffy to the ground and leaving another large bump on his head.
"See, this is what happens when you aim to be the One Piece."
Garp grinned widely, showing his big White Fang, and looked at Finn with a mock-threatening expression.
Finn wasn't paying much attention to Garp at that moment because a system message popped up.
"Ding! The god-level selection system is successfully bound!"
"Ding! Please choose."
"1: Decline going to Naval Headquarters. Reward: Junior Moonwalk."
"2: Remain silent. Reward: Intermediate Moonwalk."
"3: Head to Naval Headquarters joyfully. Reward: Advanced Moonwalk."
Finn looked at the options and smirked. Clearly, they didn't want him to become a pirate.
With no comparison between the different levels of Moonwalk, Finn decided quickly. "Grandpa! I'll go with you. I want to be a Marine!"
"Ding! Congratulations, Host. You've received the Advanced Moonwalk!"
All the information about Moonwalk instantly filled Finn's mind, along with muscle memory, as if he had used it countless times.
Garp's eyes lit up with excitement. "Finn, are you serious?!"
"More real than pearls!" Finn affirmed.
"Ahaha! Finn, you're truly a good grandson! This is fantastic! You're setting a great example!" Garp was thrilled.
Ace looked shocked. "Brother, isn't your dream to be the Pirate King?"
"Well..." Finn sighed. "It's because of Luffy, this stubborn brother! There can only be one Pirate King. If both of us aspire to be One Piece, we'd end up fighting each other sooner or later. To ensure he becomes the Pirate King, I'll settle for being a Marine King or something."
Marine King...
Ace rolled his eyes.
"Besides, if the three of us become pirates, it would be troublesome if we get caught in the future. As a Marine King, if you get captured, I can rescue you."
"Isn't grandpa around? Even if we get caught, grandpa can get us out, right?" Luffy asked innocently.
Garp was furious. What a ridiculous idea! If he didn't see Luffy's head swollen with bumps, he'd be tempted to punch him again.
Finn shook his head. "Luffy, that's not how it works."
Seeing Finn's sensible reasoning, Garp felt a bit better.
"Luffy, you have to understand that grandpa is getting old. If I want to protect you all the time, I need to be the Marine King before grandpa's time comes!"
"Brother, what you said makes sense," Ace admitted.
Garp's heart was full of old blood. "Damn it, I think I'm going to burst now!"
