Chapter 8 - My Grandson, What Kind Of Monster?

Bogart was stunned!

If word got out about this, Mr. Garp's reputation could be ruined. Bogart shot a wary glance at Garp beside him. Sure enough, the old man's face darkened immediately.

"You kid, repeat what you just said. How did this person get here?" Garp's large hands cracked as he clenched his fists, his iron will evident in his raging expression.

"I snatched her!" Finn replied nonchalantly, patting Nami on the back. "Is there a problem?"

"Of course, there's a problem!" Garp fumed. "You want to be a Marine! How can you go around doing something as outrageous as a pirate would? It's ridiculous! Let her go immediately!"

"I don't see the issue. Dad goes around recruiting people to join the Revolutionary Army, and you don't give him any grief. But when I recruit just one person, you're all over me. Isn't that a bit unfair?"

"Besides, I'm taking her to join the Marines. That's a good thing. You're stopping me from doing good deeds, yet ignoring Dad's misdeeds. Grandpa, that's just not fair!" Finn said, looking at Garp confidently.

Garp was momentarily speechless, though still furious. It was true that his son Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, was "recruiting" people daily. And while Finn's methods were rough, his intentions were good. But that didn't make it right.

"No! If you want to be a Marine, you can't go around snatching people! Let her go!" Garp insisted, his tone firm despite his usual laid-back demeanor.

"Grandpa, are you saying that Marines can't recruit people?"

"Of course not! Marines can't kidnap people!" Garp's voice boomed with anger.

"Oh, I heard pirates can recruit people. Maybe I should become a pirate! If I become the Pirate King, I can recruit people freely!" Finn mused, rubbing his chin. "Yeah, I've decided! I'm going to compete with my brother for the title of Pirate King!"

"The old man will break your legs first!" Garp roared, raising his fist to strike Finn.

"Vice Admiral! Please calm down!" Bogart quickly grabbed Garp, trying to restrain him.

Garp blew out his mustache in frustration, his nostrils flaring with anger. "You little brat! I dare you to say that again!"

"I won't~" Finn shook his head.

"Hmph! I thought so!" Garp snorted, thinking to himself that Finn had finally come to his senses.

"No, Grandpa, you're getting up there in age. I'm afraid I might accidentally stress you out. Since I've decided not to become the Marine King, you've got to stick around for a long time. Otherwise, who's going to rescue my brothers and me when the Marines capture us?"

Pfft! Bogart spat out his drink in disbelief. Was Finn really worried about stressing out his grandfather, or was he deliberately trying to push his buttons?

"You little brat! I'm going to teach you a lesson today!" Garp was beyond furious. He shoved Bogart aside and began stomping his foot.

Shave!

"Come taste Grandpa's loving fist!" Garp's figure blurred as he turned into an afterimage, appearing beside Finn in an instant and throwing a punch.

Boom!

The punch hit nothing but air. Garp's face changed—his usual target was gone!

He looked around to see Finn had moved, as if by the wind, to another spot.

"Haha, Grandpa! I've learned Shave too!" Finn laughed, looking over at Nami.

"How can you use Shave!?" Garp was both surprised and delighted.

It was nearly impossible for anyone to escape Garp's fist, but Finn had done it with ease. Clearly, Finn had not only learned Shave but had mastered it.

"I've seen you use it a few times, Grandpa. I just figured it out," Finn said with a grin, revealing a set of bright, white teeth.

Garp's eyes nearly popped out of his head. What kind of prodigy was his grandson? If Finn joined the Marines, he'd be Admiral material. If he became a pirate, he'd be a future Emperor. No, Garp couldn't let Finn go down the wrong path. He had to bring him back to Naval Headquarters, no matter what!

Bogart was at a loss for words. Finn had mastered Shave just by watching it a few times? This was raw talent at its peak.

At that moment, Nami turned to Garp. "Master Vice Admiral, don't be too hard on him. Even though he 'snatched' me, he saved our entire village. I'm willing to go to Naval Headquarters with him. I also want to be a Marine."

When Finn defeated the Dragon Pirates, Nami's opinion of him had changed. Though he could be domineering, he was a good person. Moreover, he hadn't kidnapped her for any shameful reason—he just wanted her to be his navigator.

A navigator—that had been Nami's dream since childhood. If she left with Finn, she could fulfill her dream of becoming a navigator. And not just any navigator, but one on a warship.

Seeing that Finn was even willing to clash with his grandfather to take her along, Nami felt an inexplicable happiness. After all, what girl doesn't like feeling valued?

Leaving with Finn would not only fulfill her dream but also resolve the conflict between grandfather and grandson.

Why wouldn't she do it?
