The city got covered by a dark blanket,all the chatter and events happen at night. Evil attacks at night,more accurately Saito attacks at night. Ryu started patrolling in the city, looking for evil, or rescue people in need of help. His everyday cycle was the same, wake up, train, practice incantations, control his dark powers and when night shifts he patrols in the city,taking down criminals. Like a vigilante,in the shadows. Most of the time, when all the innocent people get saved . They all think it was a miracle or that they were just high.
But in reality,Ryu was the only miracle that saved them. Tonight was the same, like any other day. Take the bad guys down and go home. That's what Ryu thought. "Man, I start to get bored. I know it's a good thing to defeat the evil but I want a challenge, I wanna test myself, I want a real challenge." he said, dissapointed that Saito even tho he had a lot of power, still had weak minions. It's like something big would happen sooner or later.
As Ryu continues to watch the city from the shadows he noticed all the happy families, bonding together. Loving and caring for eachother. As he saw them spend time together, memories from his past life striked him. "I wonder what would've happened if that old bastard was a nice guy,I would've probably still be alive... Let's see, If I'm fifteen now.." He starts to calculate what age he would've be in his past life. "Wait, I died at fifteen in my past life. What a coincidence. So I would've been thirty years old right now. Wow... I would've have my own family by now" Emotions started attacking him bit by bit.
He slowly looks up in the sky."I hope you're doing well mom, I love you" then he looked down at the ground,looking down from a tall building. "Fuck you, you old bastard. I'm glad I killed you back then, hope you'll rot in hell." He then sighs and sits on the edge of the building's roof. As he was admiring the night view, he hears a kid crying for help. He then quickly actioned and jumped off that building heading towards the little kid. "Heyru" As he used his spell to make him float down. He runs towards the voice that screams,asking for help.
As he gets there he spots lots of gang mebers making fun of that kid and beating him up. Ryu saw around eight or seven gangsters but maybe more were hiding, who knows. He quickly dashed towards those guys and smoothly took all of them down. He either punched them or kicked them , his moves were synced. It looked so admirable. As Ryu continues to take those gangsters down he noticed that more are coming from behind. He tries to move fast and reflect all those attacks but he was too outnumbered.
One gangster jumped on Ryu putting him in a handlock, another one grabs his arms. And then one more gangster comes, that gangster stabs Ryu from the back. "Damn it...stabbed..." Ryu then falls down on his knees. "You're not that strong now are you? You vigilante. You thought you could do anything if you took down some of our guys?" Ryu then gets up, and continues to fight them. He still manages to land some hits but his attacks get slower as he was pushing himself while he was injured. "I'm losing blood, I can't go on like this" he said in his mind. As one of the gangsters lands the last hit. Ryu falls down,as his eyes were closing he sees a figure jumping down from a building.
Later that night Ryu wakes up completely panicked "The kid!" Then he notices that he is in a room,bandaged and healed. "Huh? Where am I?" A girl with long blonde hair,green eyes walked towards him. "I thought you'd sleep forever" She said quite worried. Ryiu then gets up and looks at her "Where's the kid?" "The kid is with his family now,don't worry." Ryu then feels relieved.
"Wait who are you?" He asked, completely unaware that that girl saved his life. "I'm the reason your alive right now yeah? I saved your ass back there!" Ryu then looks at her , not knowing how to react to that so he just simply says "Thank you, I owe you one" The girl then looks at him and replies "You do" she then chuckled softly. Ryu then smiled and asked "What's your name by the way, I didn't get to ask you" "My name is Ayumi, Ayumi Nakamura. And what about you young man?" "My name is Ryu Yamamoto, and we're about the same age. You can't call me young man you get it?" he said quite mad. "That doesn't change the fact that I'm stronger than you teheh" She chuckled. "Okay I took most of those guys down while you took down the rest. Plus I got attacked by surprise you get it?" "Yeah yeah sure, I was just teasing you don't worry." "Good"
"Ryu, I was thinking of something. I know I'm saying this all of a sudden but do you wanna partner up? And be friends? We can build our own group,We have the same goal. To take down Saito"
As Ryu heard the word "friends" he quickly gets a flashback of him and Riku's first interaction. Because of that friends/family thing he got murdered. That's why he prefers the solo way. He was scared of being betrayed again. "I'm sorry. I can't..."
Ayumi then says "I understand that you suffered a lot but please,trust me." Ryu then accepts her offer. "Fine,but I'll pick the name!" Ayumi then chuckled and nodds. "Our group name will be the Phantom Assassins!!!" "Hmm,not bad. Not bad at all, Good name. Starting from today,we'll be the Phantom Assassins."
With that Ryu slowly starts to find hope in others and believe in the word -friends-. With a new friend everything is possible. Maybe he will finally have someone to count on or someone to count on him. Someone that will care about him. And maybe, just maybe. He will gain happiness.
