Anastasia didn't walk away as Jamie had expected. She walked towards Jamie, smiled at him and dropped a soft kiss on his cheek.
Jamie's eyes widened.
With bright eyes, Anastasia pulled away from him. "I'm ready," she said with crazy energy, speeding her arms apart for him to compliment her casual look.
Jamie let out a long breath. "Let's go,"
It took everything in Jamie not to hold her closer to himself and kiss her roughly. The sudden kiss stunned him.
Robb gritted his teeth in secret. He forced a smile when Anastasia looked at him. Nodding lightly, he wished her good luck.
Anastasia naturally took Jamie's arm and walked out of the dining with him. Jamie held on to her, his heart screaming for the first time.
The emotions made him disgusted, and he was about to throw up due to the rush of it.
Anastasia forcefully parted their hold the moment his chauffeur opened the door for them to get into the car.
Jamie let her go. He gave his now empty hand a side glance afterwards. His feelings returned to normal, but more empty.
"Your brother said the same." Anastasia started, looking out of the window as the car started. "Would you call him a liar?"
"I won't," Jamie replied without hesitation. "You're free to believe what you choose to," his jaw hardened.
Anastasia turned to him. She studied his handsome features for a long while. Shaking her head, she kept her mind open. "I won't make any rash decisions without evidence."
Jamie turned to her. Their eyes locked, and tiny emotions flashed in his eyes. He broke their eye contact before she could penetrate his soul.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Jamie's company, a towering structure that exude power and wealth. The sleek, gray building seemed to stretch up to the sky, its imposing facade commanding attention.
The MacQuoid logo emblazoned on the top gleamed with a sense of prestige and success. As the driver opened the door, Anastasia's feet seemed rooted to the spot, her eyes fixed on the majestic building.
Meanwhile, Jamie strode confidently into the company, his stride purposeful. Anastasia's gaze lingered on the building's grandeur, her smile a testament to her awe. This was the epitome of her dreams, a far cry from her father's company. The sheer scale and opulence of Jamie's company took her breath away, its grandeur a reflection of his success and influence.
As Anastasia gazed up at the building, she felt a sense of pride and admiration for Jamie's accomplishments. The man she has always admired turns out to be a husband she hates.
With a deep breath, she stepped out of the vehicle and onto the sleek, gray pavement. The driver offered his hand, assisting her as she emerged from the car. Anastasia's eyes never left the building as she took her first steps towards the entrance.
As she approached the glass doors, they slid open with a soft whoosh, revealing a spacious, elegantly appointed lobby. The interior design was just as impressive as the exterior, with polished marble floors, gleaming steel accents, and a soaring ceiling that seemed to stretch up to the sky. Anastasia's eyes widened as she took in the sheer scale and luxury of the space.
"Miss Ellie is around. She's in your office," the receptionist reported to Jamie, her voice dripping with an air of importance.
Jamie's jaw clenched immediately, his eyes flashing with a hint of anger. Anastasia noticed it, her curiosity piqued.
"Send her away," Jamie growled, his voice low and menacing.
As they approached the elevator, Anastasia's heart pounded in her chest. She could feel the tension between Jamie and her, the air thick with unspoken secrets and unresolved issues.
"Jamie, who is Miss Ellie?" Anastasia asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jamie's eyes flashed with a warning, his jaw clenched in a tight line. "No one you need to worry about," he replied. His voice calmed as he spoke to her.
As the elevator doors opened, Jamie strode out, his long legs eating up the distance. Anastasia followed close behind, her eyes fixed on his broad back. They walked through the winding corridors, the sound of their footsteps echoing off the gleaming marble floors.
Finally, they arrived at Jamie's office, a sprawling space with a stunning view of the city. Anastasia's eyes widened as she took in the opulent decor, the gleaming steel accents, and the soaring ceiling.
But her gaze was quickly drawn to the woman who walked in almost immediately, without knocking. Miss Ellie, Anastasia presumed.
"Jamie," the woman said, her voice husky, as she smiled at Jamie. "Your receptionist almost sent me away. That arrogant bitch." She cursed, her voice dripping with authority.
Anastasia's eyes narrowed as she took in the woman's striking features, her raven-black hair, and her piercing green eyes. Her blue dress hugged her body perfectly, and her curves could make anyone turn to take another look at her.
Anastasia took a step away from Jamie. She didn't measure up to the woman who just walked in. A sudden wave of insecurity washed over her when she drank the woman figure in.
Jamie noticed Anastasia. He read her body language. "Ellie, this is Anastasia," he said, his voice curt as he took a step backwards and held Anastasia's hand. "My wife."
Ellie's eyes flashed with surprise. "You got married?"
"I am," Jamie replied without hesitation. "Two months ago," as he spoke, his hand ran down Anastasia's back to calm her.
Ellie smiled. She stepped towards Anastasia and stretched her hand out for a friendly handshake. Anastasia's instincts went on high alert as she shook Ellie's hand, her grip firm.
Jamie fixed his piercing eyes on their hands. He didn't allow the handshake to last for two seconds. He gently pulled Anastasia's hand off.
"Ellie, you shoukd leave," He said, his voice firm.
"I came here to know why you're ignoring me," Ellie replied, her eyes never leaving Anastasia's face.
Anastasia's eyes narrowed. She flashed Jamie a sideways glance. His expression remained straight, and she frowned seeing he had no plans to reply.
