Chapter 12 - The Journey ( Part 5 )

After that incident, they were forced to stay up late to clean the tent which was filled with water that came out of nowhere.

What is clear is that the water came from where Umar was sleeping.

Rico, who had realized that there was something strange with Umar from the beginning, explained to them.

"I was suspicious of him, how could he still be climbing at this hour wearing only a t-shirt without a jacket while the weather is cold like this, and what's even stranger"

"Since he slept in the tent, he never changed his sleeping position, while we played games for quite a long time,"

Rico explained to them.

After the tent was neat and clean again, they went back inside the tent with the clock showing 2 am.

The girls' team was already fast asleep after they heard the explanation about Umar.

They decided to go inside the tent and close their tent.

They were afraid that what happened to the boys' team would happen to them.

"Enough, no need to think. It's better if we just pray that we will all always be protected from danger and strange things again."

Hasan said asking his friends to sleep because they had little time to sleep and continue the morning climb.

When they started to fall asleep, Rico and Hasan, who had difficulty sleeping, realized that there was a sound like a snake outside their tent.

Rico woke up while praying in his heart, making sure that the snake did not enter their tent.

And what was even more worrying, the snake entered the girl's tent.

Realizing that Rico had woken up, Hasan also woke him up and turned on the flashlight to make sure the sound was noisy or not.

"Oh Hasan, this flashlight is so bright, what's wrong, San?"

Rengga asked who was disturbed by the flashlight Hasan was holding.

"I don't know why I have a hard time sleeping. Earlier it sounded like there was a snake outside, I'm worried he entered the tent,"

Hasan said to make sure of the sound again.

Shhh….. The snake's sound became clearer in their ears.

"Snake!!..." Rengga shouted in fear after hearing the sound.

Suddenly waking up Riki and Keenan who were already fast asleep.

"Snake? Where's the snake? Let's get out quickly, there's a snake."

Keenan, who was still a little scared, was shocked by Rengga's scream.

After they all got out of the tent, it turned out there was no snake and even the sound suddenly disappeared.

The incidents that happened in their tent were like nightmares, they became worried, restless and afraid of the strange events that would happen next.

The atmosphere at Post 3 was getting quieter and colder, only sounds were heard that were unclear from where, whether it was the sound of animals or sounds traveling through the leaves.

They were starting to get sleepy and tired. Their only hope was to sleep with any temptations, the climb could not be continued if they lacked sleep and were not in good physical condition.

They also fearfully re-entered the tent.

"Whatever happens, just ignore it. Maybe this is just their temptation to us.

Our position is higher than theirs, so we don't need to be afraid of them." Rico's words convinced his friends.

After holding back the sleepiness and extreme tiredness. Finally, they fell into a deep sleep.

While Hasan was still awake and looking at the conditions around him.

Hasan often suffered from insomnia, and staying up late had become his habit.

Hasan started to open his cell phone, look at the photos, and listen to music using AirPods.

He tried to distract his mind from hearing the strange things outside the tent.

While he was busy scrolling through the gallery on his cellphone, a smile appeared on his face when he saw a photo of Laras wearing her black hat and holding a cup of coffee when they were at Post 1.

"This girl is really beautiful," Hasan muttered in his heart.

Of the many photos he took, only Laras was the focus of his attention.

The heart cannot be lied to, there is a feeling of extraordinary love and admiration that Hasan has kept hidden for Laras all this time.

Who knows what kind of courage he should convey to the dimpled girl, it seems impossible for Hasan to even gather his courage, he has already given up.

Seeing his friends fast asleep and the time was already 3 am, Hasan decided to sleep too, because he felt the tent was safe.

"It's not bad to have 2 hours to sleep," He said while putting his cell phone in his bag.

Hasan also fell asleep.

Finally they fell asleep.

Without realizing it, time quickly passed, and the sun began to rise, they woke up at 6 am when there was the sound of shoes walking past their tent.

"It's already this hour , and they're still sleeping, what did they do last night?" said the climbers who passed their tent.

"Hey wake up, it's morning. Let's continue the climb to post 4 before it's too late" shouted one of the senior climbers to them.

Laras, who heard their screams, finally woke up and tried to wake Alya and Tissa.

"Alya, Tissa, wake up. It's already 6 am" said Laras while waking her two friends.

Meanwhile, in the men's tent, they were still asleep and seemed not to hear the climbers shouting at them.

"Not a single guy has come out of the tent yet, it's really weird."

Tissa said walking towards the guys' tent to try to wake them up.

Tissa called and shook their tent.

"Keenan, Hasan, Riki, Rengga, Rico. Wake up, come out quickly, it's almost noon."

Tissa said while shouting at them from outside.

Laras and Alya were preparing breakfast for their friends.

They made rice, cooked eggs, sausages made chocolate jam sandwiches, and made hot tea to warm their stomachs.

After various attempts, finally, Keenan was the first to wake up and open their tent.

The aroma of eggs being cooked by Laras could be smelled.

"We were really tired all night and had trouble sleeping, sorry for waking up late."

Keenan said walking towards the back of the tent to wash his face.

Then the others woke up.

"I've never felt this sleepy and tired while climbing and slept this soundly," Rico said, followed by Hasan's nod.

"Maybe because Ki Jaka guarded it last night, so our tent was safe and kept away from disturbances like that," Rico said smiling at them.

Hearing Rico's words. Keenan, Riki, and Rengga, who did not know who Ki Jaka was, became curious and asked Rico.

"Ki Jaka? Who is Rico? Your ancestral guardian?" Keenan asked Rico with a curious face.
